“I’ve been here a few times and every time I’m there it never disappoints. The food is always big portions and whether you want to share or not it’s overall good. Staff was super accommodating and I forgot to make a reservation and they just added another table for me and my friend to sit down at. Highly recommend to book in advance and also eat their food ?“
“New Hong Kong Snack House aka NHK is a borderline religion or drug addiction in food form to people. They are soo successful that being open for breakfast or dinner is not necessary. The hole in the wall interior always brings back memories and honestly, I hope it never changes. Staff is attentive, friendly and the customers are a mix from business men to high school students to foodies. I have been raised on the food here since I was a child and always thought of it as my secret spot until I realized almost everyone I know went there.Spare Rib Rice, Shrimp Dumpling and Fried Peking Perogies are the only items I order and make sure you try the hot sauce. I can't explain why but it's such a perfect combination of sweet, salty, savory and borderline umami. If it's your first time, try the Beginners Plate to set yourself up for adventurous orders in the future.I highly recommend New Hong Kong to anyone with an open mind, heart and stomach haha. It's at times a hit or miss based on expectations, but you'll be hooked once you get past the exterior and concentrate on the food.“
“We’ve ordered from here twice in the past month and definitely will be again! Food is fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. Great portion sizes and wonderful service. The construction outside has been awful, I imagine it has put a damper on their business so don’t let the little bit of inconvenience scare you away! They are well worth it.“
“I cannot share about the service or atmosphere as we've only had delivery, but we will try it one of these days. We decided to order this for our Christmas dinner to save me all the work. Nice treat. This does not have the massively extensive menu of most Chinese restaurants but that is fine cuz those are overwhelming. This place is also less greasy and sugary than most. It felt very healthy which was lovely. A couple dishes slightly disappointed in that they were too basic for our liking. Like the chicken with vegetables we expected to have a sauce. It had something but not your typical. In hindsight, though it felt bland at the time, I'm glad I can go back and order that and know it isn't dripping in sugar. The ginger beef was amazing. Best by far.We ordered 7 dishes which was loads for our family of 7 and produced enough leftovers for another full meal.Overall I loved the food and would recommend. It isn't a greasy spoon. Fantastic food.“
“Just buried away two huge plates of tasty delicious food. As a first time customer I was unsure to try this place. I highly recommend anyone who loves Chinese food full of flavor and perfectly cooked. I will def be back ! Thanks for a great first experience.Vegetarian options: Perfectly cooked veggies.“
“Super & good food I travel from Toronto to visit & delve but I visit this place food is amazing ?lady in front desk she speaks good English also very easy to understand and friendly try every one I am very picky person to give reviews 5 stars“
“Nice place to eat. Tasty and cheap food. Big portion. We took combo and noodle soup, it's good that I didn't take one more dish because Iwe were full and even took combo leftovers home. Host was quite busy so it took a while to pay bill, but it's not a big deal.“
“If you want a unique dining experience I highly recommend this spot. I came across it quite accidentally while trying out new Asian food spots. Its very similar to a "Hot Pot" restaurant in that your order consists of a platter of ingredients served cold to be put into a piping hot boiling broth bowl brought to your table. You put these ingredients into your hot pot followed by their hand pulled noodles. It's a neat way to eat and the flavour of the noodle soup is delicious. You can order any add ons you like that are noted in the menu. I will add that you order using a barcode at your table.... Scan and order.... No server to take your order.... Kind of neat and reminds me of some airport lounges. They offer a chili oil sauce at your table which is clearly made in house so if you like to spice it up this is a nice touch. Service was friendly, food was good and the atmosphere was standard. The space is clean. If I had any suggestions to the owners it would be to just take a bit of extra time when a newbie like me comes through the door to explain the philosophy and process of how things work.... I had to ask. Great spot and I will be back.Parking: Spots on site“
“If you are gluten free and visiting Winnipeg you absolutely have to try this place. I haven’t found breaded chinese food I can eat anywhere else. So, so good!As a side note, there’s no dine in, so the portion size in my picture is my own and much less than what they give you. We still have leftovers a few days later!“
“The food is amazing!! Highly recommend - super authentic and everything we ordered (we pretty much ordered everything off of the menu) and the lamb soup and the pancake is a must try for winter weather. The restaurant is a bit hard to find as (I think it just opened up?) it was a kbbq before. But it’s def a hidden gem and recommend 200%. Portion is beyond generousParking behind the building and easy accessVery authentic. The spicy beef noodles are perfect. It’s spicy enough. The stewed beef is really amazing. It’s fat and flavorful. The lamb soup is perfect in winter. The pancakes are absolutely thin and crispy. The tenderloin is the kind at the school gate. I haven’t eaten it in a long time! The portion was huge. I ordered everything and even left some of it unfinished.Highly recommended, much more enjoyable than eating hot pot“
“First visit today.I had number 26. It was "Spicy Chicken something" I think. Let me tell you it was amazing and a massive proportion for $12.99. I stuffed my self and took just as much home with me in a takeout container. Of curiosity I counted 21 patrons in the short 30 minutes I was there. The staff was friendly and prompt and very busy but no one waited very long for anything. I am very impressed and I will return and bring friends. A fantastic place to eat. The food was amazing that I had and the large dishes of things constantly coming out of the busy kitchen all looked amazing too!“
“I had gone here as a child, decades later I wanted to try Good Earth again. We ordered the special chow mein, rice dish, breaded ginger beef, and some egg rolls. The ginger beef was very good with good flavors. The chow mein and rice dish were cooked well and had good flavors, but the flavors were weak and could have used more powerful seasoning. The portions were huge. We had left overs for days. Our server was great and was incredibly nice. If I lived in the area I would go back.“
“We moved a year and found this place for our Chinese food nights. OH MY!!!! It IS the best we’ve ever had. Quality ingredients and portion sizes are great. Im a foodie and organic eater and other mag, there food is very clean and fresh. Highly recommend! You won’t be disappointed.“
“The food we ordered was always great! Awesome flavours! Our favorite is the walnut shrimp! We get it every time! So halt to finally have tried it, they are now our favorite place to order from. The owners are awesome people! One day we'll dine-in there.“
“Great food, reasonably priced. Our asian friends recommended it to us (that alone should say it all!) and we were pleasantly surprised! We get takeout here at least once a month. This place is a hidden gem! Check them out!Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options.Dietary restrictions: The staff are great I assume they could accommodate some dietary restrictions.Parking: If you are doing takeout theres usually a spot near to stop in quickly.Wheelchair accessibility: I dont think its wheelchair accessible as there are 2 stairs right as you walk in. However the staff are great I would imagine they would bring a take out order outside for you.“
“I think this the 10th time our family has ordered from Dragon River. All the items ordered always come fresh, hot and tasty your paying top dollar for a high end foodie experience!7. Shrimp Dumplings Very well made perfect on all levels!Come with small container of chili oil to kick the heat up to enhance the over all experience of a party in your mouth.14. Deluxe Wonton Soup One of my favorites perfect all year round!55. Sweet-and-Sour Pork is very good will not disappoint very impressed with this dish so happy I got to experience it!90. Dragon River Fried Rice excellent add on to complete the meal!If you buy more than 3 to 4 dishes they usually included white rice to complete the order.“
“Thought we'd give a new Chinese restaurant a try since our regular one is under renovations. Ordered food for New Years, and let's just say that this restaurant might become our new go-to. If you're looking for some really good Chinese food in South Winnipeg, then give them a try. You won't be disappointed.“
“Authentic Chinese food from the northwest of China. Good fast service and fair price.I love the Xi’an cold noodles and the stir fried green beans. The green beans is one of my favourite dishes anywhere and anytime. If you like spicy food, this is the place I will recommend. I can’t eat too spicy food so just ask for light spicy level.“
“One of the best chowmein and chicken balls I have eaten! I have tried many restaurants around but this beat evryone of them in the food tasting, the service offered and the quick food making time! I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking to eat chinese food!“
“Definitely recommend the breaded shrimp. The dry bread veal and the chicken balls. I usually don't eat chicken balls, but they're chicken balls are good with actual big pieces of chicken. Been there a few times and I think it's our new favorite restaurant for Vietnamese.“
“They don't have dining in so I thought it would be misleasing to rate the atmosphere. They were super friendly and patient when I couldn't remember which noodle dish I was wanting to order hahaha. Great food and affordably so. Definitely would go back again! Generous with their fortune cookies and soya sauce packets, and even surprised us with free extras!Wheelchair accessibility: I don't recall seeing a button for either the outside or inner door. There isn't wheelchair friendly parking either. However they do offer delivery, so if that's affordable to you and you have mobility issues, I would definitely recommend giving them a try that way.“
“Best tasting I’ve had! One thing I had was the Sweet and Sour chicken balls. There actually was the most meat for the size compared to many other places. They will look sizeable but there isn’t much meat in them. Super friendly service and want to make sure you enjoying your meal. Waitress as well as the manager will come and ask. ?“
“I've gone several times and can recommend this place! I have gotten it once where it was not that good but it seems to have been a one off.Definitely recommend the deluxe Wonton soup and the vegan veal.Vegetarian options: Lots of veg/vegan options“
“We had a dinner last evening and the food was delicious and delivered on time. The manager Robert was so helpful in suggestions for our buffet.Very generous portions.Marigold has always been very good food and very reasonably pticed. We will certainly be ordering again. The Enclave 2006“
“Food was great if you are into noodle soup dishes. Soup came out hot and very flavorful. Also the dumplings dish were very good as well. Service was quick and very friendly as it wasnt as busy when i visited the restaurant. Highly recommend this place to give it a try.“
“It take out only now. But the food is so good. The combo A didn't even make it home. We ate it on the way. And had the chicken fingers and frys when we got home. The honey dill is so good.Parking: Right behind the store is a large parking lot.“
“It's a hole in the wall you go to to get chinese takeout. It doesn't pretend to be anything else, and they do what they do extremely well. The portions are large and well priced, they have free delivery within 3 miles, the food is always piping hot even when its -20° out. Definitely our new favourite.“
“Golden Dragon has been our "go to" place for chinese food for decades. Last Friday, we hosted a party and they provided all the food. It arrived piping hot, on-time and we got a lot of complements from our guests on the quality of the food.“
“The menu offers a selection of congee, noodles in soup, rice rolls and much more. Very good congee and noodles. the Lo mein come with a bowl of soup which you can dip the noodles in and it will be tasted even better. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, everything tastes good.“
“Had the Beef Pho Soup and Garden Salad Rolls. Full of great fresh ingredients and really filling. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was very quick to refill drinks. Will definitely be visiting again with family and my friend that I highly recommended this great place to eat.Parking: There are ~8 parking spots on the property with possibly additional 10 spots along the streets.“
“I've read these reviews so many times. I was nervous about eating here. We were both pleasantly surprised at how good and fresh the food was. The chicken balls were large chunks of chicken with minimal breading. The shrimp in all the dishes were a good size and fresh. The deluxe wonton soup tasted great.“
“Favourite Chinese food restaurant. Delicious and big portions. We have been ordering takeout for over 10 years. They are always busy. Highly recommend.Vegetarian options: My wife gets the mixed greens with tofu. We share the mushroom fried rice.“
“We would usually order from a restaurant on academy called Hi Ball. They are closed for a month so we started looking elsewhere. We are mostly disappointed with the quality and quantity of food from most Chinese food restaurants so we don’t like to explore very much when ordering Chinese. The Tang Chinese food is the best Chinese food I have ever ordered. We ordered 8 dishes total. The quantity of food per dish is generous and perfect for the price. The quality of the food is easily the best I’ve had ever. The ginger beef came dry with a sauce to poor over yourself,. It wasn’t sugary or thick, it was clearly home made by an authentic chef, as was every dish. The vegetables were gigantic in every dish. The food was literally steaming hot on the table. When my friends picked it up, they were so kind and added an extra dish in for free because it wasn’t ready to the minute of what was requested. I will only be ordering from here from now on when Chinese is on the menu.“
“Very good pho ngl. didn’t expect it to be good tbh, because it was the only one open. I guess I was very wrong. Had a very calm atmosphere, portions were very big with good quality to match. The menu was not too small, or too big. First time eating here, definitely coming back with a couple “
“This buffet is far from typical buffet style food!It was some of the best I've ever tasted by far.Fantastic service.Restaurant was very clean and inviting.Fresh and delicious, I went 3 times this week! The price is unbeatable.THIS IS A MUST TRY.“
“They sell dim sum all dayIt's order off the menu (no carts) but that's generally how it is in Winnipeg. The good thing is that means everything is usually fresh when you order it.There was only one server at the restaurant when we went who served the entire place. She was a bit over whelmed as it filled up.The ha gow (shrimp dumpling) would be my recommendation. Most items honestly were good, I can be picky and my shrimp dumpling thoughParking is available in a medium sized shared lot.“
“We placed an order online and they called to confirm everything- which was fantastic because we selected something that we thought was chow mein but was not - and the lady on the phone kindly made sure. However, the noodles and Winter chicken were okay in my opinion. The ginger beef though was super tasty and would definitely recommend and come back for that!“
“I really like this place. And I like supporting small businesses like this - they're nice people. Two tips for anyone new - the crispy ginger beef is very ginger-y, just excellent. Too many places the ginger beef is chewy or meh, but this is crispy and flavourful. Second of all, there's an item on their lunch menu, #16, noodles and chicken with black pepper sauce. It's surprising - lots of black pepper in it, very peppery flavour, not typical Canadian-Chinese cuisine, but really interesting and tasty.“
“Excellent Chinese food! Try the wonton soup or the mushroom egg foo young, terrific! Discount for pick up and free item for spending over $48. I've being ordering from them for years, will not go anywhere else! Definitely worth it!The reason I didn't give it a five rating is that the portions have become a little smaller. Yes, I've noticed! Still, Don't hesitate to try! You will be impressed!“
“Great unique place! Some tips if you're a first timer. Drinks are at the back with extra cutlery, bowls, sauces, and ice cream. Order small because you can keep ordering stuff. If it's a date night, I recommend sharing 1 soup (if you like the same soup)Highly recommend this place“
“Excellent dishes that were generous and flavourful and delivered hot at a very reasonable wait time. Great choice for gatherings. Staff are also very friendly. My favourite dishes are the eggplant with garlic and black bean sauce, two kinds of mushrooms and vegetables, and the vegetable fried rice. Looking forward to ordering again soon! ?Vegetarian options: Many options made with tofu/bean cake, vegetables, mushrooms, rice and noodles. Several items are listed as vegetarian.“
“We tried the chicken sisig and batchoy soup which were both tasty and delicious. Its a tiny little place and you wouldn't necessarily expect much but the food is excellent. Can't wait to try the other items on the menu. Only thing is the menu appears quite small but what they do serve does not disappoint. Looking forward to going back!“
“Ignore the first Review from 2015 for this Restaurant, Dragon Palace, 3060 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. The food and the Service at Dragon Palace has been very good for many years. Our last meal, December 28th, 2023 was fantastic. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, the meat was tender and flavourful, the proteins (shrimp, chicken) were not over breaded. They were light and crispy. The Won Ton soup was the best we'd ever had. Light, flavourful broth with seasoned pork, chicken and plenty of vegetables. The pork filling in the Won Tons was perfect. As for Service, the lone Server, who was running between other customers, working at the front and answering the phone, still provided prompt and polite service. It would have been nice if she had more help, but this was on a Thursday evening, so possibly a lower traffic time where the Owner felt only one person was needed? Regardless, no complaints about the service and hospitality we received. 5 Stars!!“
“I ordered delivery, they made a mistake on the price but phoned me back to say they had. I said no problem, thanks. When the order came they had doubled the shrimp and tripled the lemon chicken. What a pleasant surprise and nice thing to do! The food was amazing as always. Best Chinese food! Thank you Plaza!“
“I gotta say, this place has some of the best consemme soup ever!! Staff is very friendly, and they are so generous when you get rice with your meal!!! My small rice is overflowing, I love it. This soup is my favourite, especially on days when I don’t feel well so thank you for making my day!“
“Price is good, service is great. Everything is fresh and sizzling. Went here because my partner has great memories from going here with his grandparents (who have sadly passed away). Being here and food from here is nostalgic for him.The only downside is that they don't have great vegetarian options. Excluding me, most of my side of the family is vegetarian, so I am unable to bring my family to enjoy food here. Would love to carry on the tradition if they added some more vegetarian options.Vegetarian options: Not for a vegetarian person. Quite literally no vegetarian options that taste decent. But that's most Asian restaurants.I'd recommend adding some battered fried cauliflower, it's delicious and can be combined with so many sauces, even non vegetarian love cauliflower bites“
“We ordered take out & everything we had was delicious. The ginger beef & chicken balls were my favorite (and of course the fried rice) the meat was good & everything tasted authentic. Very friendly service, with fair prices. It will be out new go to Chinese restaurant in NK. Thank you comodo for the wonderful dinner.“
“I have eaten from this place at least 35 times. Each time the food is Amazing. I've had many dishes. Each dish is made with care. This Palace! Makes excellent food. This is the best place on HENDERSON Hwy. You need to try this place. I have never had bad food once. It's really that good! From the pictures you can see how well it's made. NKs best food.“
“This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to when we are in the south end area of the city. The variety of food choices are amazing as well as the dishes themselves. The ingredients used are always fresh, well plated, and always delicious. The atmosphere was always welcoming.“
