“Went there to celebrate my birthday. Sushi was very fresh and perfectly prepared. The slices were excellent, which made the fish delicate, tender and without too much dark pieces which have more fishy taste, no tendons/skin/muscle to make it difficult to chew. It was a delightful experience! The amount of different fish/seafood species was surprising. A special place to go to celebrate, if you love sushi. We paired it with a nice bottle of Italian Sparkling, which was an excellent recommendation by our server.“

“I visited this spot for the first time for my nephew's birthday. This is the best sushi I've had in DC. Everything on the menu is on another level. The freshness of the fish is evident from the first bite. Highly recommend the chef's island. The sea bream was also fantastic. The quaint ambience and dedicated staff makes this my new favorite sushi spot. It really is phenomenal.“

“Went for dinner at opening time and there was no wait and restaurant was basically empty which I like. Immediately greeted and sat and provided menus. The service was outstanding, maybe due to how busy the establishment was at the time, but nonetheless outstanding!! Our waitress was very kind, attentive, and pleasant. The food was all soooooo good. Started with the soft shell crab which when delivered to the table had a small flame in the middle;great presentation!!! The fish was very fresh , and you could see the chefs making all the sushi to order which is great. Toll sizes were normal size about 8 pieces and all were delivered at once which I like. The restaurant is a little smaller with about 15 ish tables so I'm sure it can fill up quickly when busy. Desert was also great ❤️. Loved the presentation again as the flatware was very cute as you can see in the photos. Best sushi I have had in Virginia so far ❤️❤️❤️. Prices were reasonable for the amount of shushi and sake that we ordered and would def go back. Must try
Parking: Underground parking garage that is used for the Harris teeter as well. Lots of parking which is great“

“Terrific quality, some unusual and tasty preparations I've not seen elsewhere. Some of the best I've had in the entire area.
Intimate and peaceful space, a place at which I'd like to be a regular. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered individual pieces, leaning toward specials on the blackboard and what the chef suggested (e.g., Japanese Red Snapper, Hamachi belly). The stars of the evening, IMHO were the house-smoked mackeral (the smoke went really well), seared scallop (wonderfully delicate texture of the fish, a creative slicing/presentation technique, and a new dimension to the flavor from the sear), and the seared Oh Toro (fatty tuna, scored and seared giving it an absurdly meaty taste -- and very different from the unseared Oh Toro we had to compare).
Definitely looking forward to going back.
Update 8 years later, 2024: Still outstanding, and the "Calamari Pasta" blew me away: cooked tentacles topped with a quail yolk, with uni underneath and -- surprise! -- a truffle. I can't recommend this dish enough.“

“You're not seeing double. I love the garden roll, and my husband loves the rainbow roll! Forget anything that I have said about any other sushi place on the East Coast. Cafe Sushi Garden not only has the very best rolls that we have ever eaten, but it also offers rice bowls, sandwiches, and pretty much something for everyone. Set back from Wilson Boulevard at the corner with North Pierce, this small, impeccabile, unassuming restaurant is perfect if you and a couple of friends prefer a sushi counter, grab and go, or outside seating. The people who work here are charming, generous, and constitute the other main reason for going back again and again. They contribute to exceed expectations.
Update: The last time we went, our favorite rolls were significantly smaller. Whereas this had become our favorite place for sushi rolls, I am not sure now. We will probably give the restaurant one more chance.
Parking: Two hours free parking off Pierce“

“A little slice of Japan. Since leaving a few years ago I have been missing Japan. This place took me right back. Sushi, ramen takoyaki, everything was perfect and delicious. Kids chopsticks so my littles can practice. We will go back.
Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating for my children who were reasonably well-behaved as they were very excited for this special treat.“

“Our visit to Zeppelin was absolutely breathtaking! From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with the most exceptional hospitality by Ari and the rest of the staff. The atmosphere of the restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind, paying tribute to the Golden Age of the Great Passenger Airships. But the real standout of our experience was the food. It was absolutely divine. We began our meal with the Edamame and Miso Soup, both of which were the perfect starters and set the stage for the rest of the meal. The Seaweed Salad and Cucumber Sunomono were also refreshing and bursting with flavor. For our main course, we decided to indulge in a variety of dishes from the KushiYaki (Japanese Charcoal Grill) menu. The Ebi Shumai and Beef Harumaki were both cooked to perfection, while the Takoyaki was a fun and tasty snack. But the standout dish was the Okonomiyaki, with its tempura, red ginger, okonomiyaki sauce, and mayo creating a truly unique and flavor-packed experience. From the sushi bar, we sampled a variety of rolls including the Negitoro Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Rainbow Roll. Each one was expertly crafted and perfectly balanced in flavor. We also tried the Sashimi Sampler, which was a fantastic way to try a range of different fish. For dessert, we couldn't resist trying the Green Tea Ice Cream, which was the perfect way to end the meal on a sweet note. Our experience at Zeppelin was truly extraordinary! The food was delicious and the hospitality we received from Ari and the rest of the staff was top-notch. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a truly unique and memorable dining experience.“

“Good quality dishes. I especially found the small plates to be excellent, which are what I most strongly recommend, such as: sake and green grapes, spicy cucumbers, and the duroc pork belly bun. The sushi itself is good quality that is on par with other well-rated sushi places in the area.“

“A beautiful restaurant boasting an amazing and attentive staff, Sushiko provides an excellent culinary experience with high quality sushi especially of note the fresh wasabi which I highly recommend to those with a proper taste for it as it elevates each and every dish. The Hamachi crudo while a small dish, was so flavorful and well put together I had to order it a second time. The grapefruit added acidic components to the dish while also attributing to the texture while the ponzu sauce provided A wonderful savory palette.“

“#DCGourmet
Well, DCGourmet now endorses a third sushi joint in the DC area, vs previously only two. A friend invited me here, and I am so glad we went! Lovely, calm and clean atmosphere plus super fresh and artistic, symphonically harmonious sushi. I even loved the miso soup, which is an item I usually skip, but took a chance this time. It was hot, flavorful, DELICIOUS, and unlike any miso I’d ever had before.
DC area sushi usually disappoints. I assure you this place pleases to the nines. It has 4.8 stars for good reason. Come see for yourself!“

“The food was delicious, the owner and staff were very kind especially with our 13 month old who about 45 minutes in was getting very stubborn and wanted to walk around.
I would highly recommend the laksa, which was my favorite dish out of the 5 we ordered. The lamb satay came second. Ask for some extra sambal, it wasn’t too sweet but the perfect amount of spice!!“

“After driving over an hour away to meet an old friend and she canceled literally when I parked lol, I told myself I had a taste for sushi since I hadn’t had it in a while. Searched sushi in the area that this gem popped up.
I have to say it was a bit difficult to find. After walking around for about 15 minutes, I saw some men walk into a building and walk down some stairs so I decided to follow them. Only then did I find this place. That is really my only complaint, but not enough to take a star away.
It’s a cute, quaint little place and the sushi was absolutely amazing. Their miso soup was also really good ! 10/10 recommend if you’re in the area!“

“One of my favorite sushi spots for lunch when the mood strikes. The location is unassuming and if you aren't looking for it you will walk right by. Not the cheapest option but the quality of the fish speaks for itself. As far as sushi, I can only speak to the nigiri and sashimi but the various types I have had all have been fresh with good texture. The beef udon bowl was light and a great soup without being heavy. This place is only open for lunch so if you can swing it, it's worth a try.“

“I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was here. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and the food was excellent! I highly recommend their white tuna rolls and bento boxes. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very pleasant and somewhat traditional, which in my book is a big plus.
This has definitely become a favorite spot for my girlfriend and I to eat at. I wish I could find more japanese restaurants like Yiku.
Parking: The spots near the shopping mart are pretty full, but the spots closest to Yiku usually have some openings.“

“Love this place immensely. Service was top notch and food is SO GOOD. I got the spicy salmon roll and the Ninja Turtle specialty roll and neither disappointed. Probably the best spicy salmon roll i’ve had, ever. Period hands down, no competition. Ambiance is great-standard sushi bar spot.

“We went for the summer restaurant week. You get a cold and a hot appetizer, assortment of sushi and a dessert. We opted for the soft shell crab and shabu shabu ramen, both were delicious and served hot out of the kitchen. Sushi is top quality and decadent of course. Hojicha pudding is uniquely toasty and silky.
Not all RW deals are worth going, but I’d recommend the selection at sushi taro for the quality and the value of the food.“

“Nagoya Shushi is one of the best sushi restaurants we have found in the DC area. “Very authentic sushi. Best sushi in DC. I got seated right at 5:30. The ambiance is amazing. It feels like I am eating in someone's house if that makes sense. The spotify playlist they have is calming. I think this place is a hidden gem. I had crunchy shrimp roll because of TikTok and it did not disappoint. And some temaki rolls. I had a wonderful waiter as well.“

“Salmon with citrus roe. I’m a fan. The shopping center left me questioning the idea of buying sushi from a 7-11. This though is a separate business. I took it to Clara Barton’s house in case it wasn’t good and I needed a nurse, but it turns out not only is she not here right now, but the sushi was excellent.“

“Totally underrated sushi restaurant! I lived in Japan for the better part of my adult life and every time I come to Maki Bar (at least once a month at this point) I'm impressed by the size of the cuts of sashimi, the amount and flavor of the tempura shrimp udon (my go to order!), and all my friends and family I've brought have been equally blown away. Their special rolls have all tasted great too. The Salmon Special is the photo I've attached and was a dream for a salmon lover like me! Can't recommend them enough!“

“My coworker has been going to Sushi House a few times a week for the last 6 months. Yesterday I decided to go with her for the first time and am glad that I did. Having grown up in Japan, I know good sushi and this is it. The value for money spent is great, and the sushi tastes amazing. I always get the shrimp tempura as the first thing to try at a sushi restaurant to try to see if anything else is worth having, and I can't wait to move on to their nigiri next visit! “Solid sushi and Japanese food spot. The sushi is always great, the Japanese fare is hit or miss. The dining area is small and basic but also clean and functional.
Parking: It's a strip mall so plenty of parking around, though you may have to walk a bit.
Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is a bit tight and there are no automatic doors. If you can get inside it shouldn't be hard to cozy up to a table or the counter.“

“We were pleased to find this restaurant: It is a bit out of our way, and due to road construction, we had to do some doubling back. I recall that the sashimi was fresh and the portions generous, but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor, perhaps because it was not served with a side of rice. I would return and try it again. Pictured are the sushi chefs, a wall inside, a sushi clock, and the outside of the restaurant.
Parking: There were several parking places in front and we had no trouble finding a spot.“
