I picked up three items this morning at Morning My Day. The choices were plentiful and tempting. A coconut braid-not too sweet, just perfect for early morning with coffee or tea, a curry pork sung bread that was absolutely hands down delish-heated it in the oven for 5 minutes and ate it with hot sauce, and a purple yam flower bun-delicious but know that the bread consistency might not be what you're used to? It's a very moist dense dough. The lady had a genuinely welcoming smile. The shop was easy to find. I found parking quickly. There is one table, maybe two. It's more of a carry-out place. I will be back.“

“Celebrated my birthday at Empress Coffee & Cocktails with my girls, and it was everything! The food and drinks were incredible -- we tried so many dishes and loved every bite. The Persian pizza (a house favorite) was full of flavor, the soup and grilled cheese combo was pure comfort, and the turkey + havarti sandwich, bacon egg croissant, and margarita pizza were all delicious and perfectly done. The drinks? Just wow. The espresso martini is an absolute yes! We also loved the butterfly margarita, lava-shak martini, and Malibu sunset -- all beautifully crafted and fun to sip. Plus, they offer a nice selection of wines and juices to purchase. Shots were order as well. Had too much fun didn't take pictures of all the food and drinks. The space itself is perfect for a girls' day or night out -- stylish and cozy with beautiful lighting and thoughtful décor. We especially loved the artwork of the girl with the pearl earrings -- such a fun and elegant touch! We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves, which made the whole evening feel extra special. Huge shoutout to Sam, the owner, who was such a warm and welcoming host. This shop is in Rockville and there’s practically a bubble tea spot on every corner, but this one is worth your time and money. Kevin, the owner, is a super sweet older Chinese man who takes true pride in his teas. You can taste the love and effort. “I am not an egg person. I chose this location cause I saw they had a non egg bagel option. When there, they were out of one of the ingredients so I had to get an egg bagel. BUT IT WAS DELICIOUS. They made me an egg white version of the sandwich which is OFF MENU. Very accommodating and again soooo good even though I generally dislike eggs.

The coffee was delicious. Which is my number one thing.

It was a very cute cafe. It got HOT though because they roasted the coffee beans right there in front of you. Which was also pretty cool to see.

Service was pretty slow. But overall good. Especially considering I ordered off menu.

“6 years after my first review, 7.5 years since I first darkened the door on my way to a job interview, and this continues to be my favorite place in the DMV. They have other locations now that are bigger and fancier, but the OG is homey, friendly, and perfect. The coffee and other drinks are delicious, the food is lovingly prepared by magicians in the tiny kitchen, tables are regularly cleaned, and the counter staff is always courteous and helpful even when swamped by the brunch rush. The over-medium eggs in my go-to huevos rancheros are always perfectly cooked, the slaw on the pupusas is a bright and crunchy accompaniment to the cheesy masa goodness, and the banana pudding made me a convert after not liking banana desserts for decades. When I've been able to tear myself away and order other things I've never been disappointed. They put just as much care into takeout orders as eat-ins. Yes, the prices are bougie, but I've never felt like I didn't get my money's worth in comparison to similar establishments. The hot chocolate was creamy and chocolatey and it was also the perfect temperature. I recommend adding whip cream as it really elevated the flavor with the contrasting temperatures. My friend got a turkey and cheese crepe and a caramel Frappuccino, both of which were very tasty. The savory crepe was super yummy and the caramel Frappuccino was sweet and frozen/creamy.
