24 Best Coffee Shops in Gaithersburg

“Celebrated my birthday at Empress Coffee & Cocktails with my girls, and it was everything! The food and drinks were incredible -- we tried so many dishes and loved every bite. The Persian pizza (a house favorite) was full of flavor, the soup and grilled cheese combo was pure comfort, and the turkey + havarti sandwich, bacon egg croissant, and margarita pizza were all delicious and perfectly done. The drinks? Just wow. The espresso martini is an absolute yes! We also loved the butterfly margarita, lava-shak martini, and Malibu sunset -- all beautifully crafted and fun to sip. Plus, they offer a nice selection of wines and juices to purchase. Shots were order as well. Had too much fun didn't take pictures of all the food and drinks. The space itself is perfect for a girls' day or night out -- stylish and cozy with beautiful lighting and thoughtful décor. We especially loved the artwork of the girl with the pearl earrings -- such a fun and elegant touch! We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves, which made the whole evening feel extra special. Huge shoutout to Sam, the owner, who was such a warm and welcoming host. Highly recommend this gem for a celebration or a chill hangout. Can't wait to go back!“

“This is my 1st Valentine’s dinner date. We had a pawsome 🐾 time here. It’s the best dog-friendly restaurant in the DMV area. This place is so welcoming paw 🐾 fur babies like me, people are very friendly, the atmosphere and the vibes is so uplifting, food is delicious, and their signature coffee is the best! “We had bobapop catering with sealed drinks and self serve stations for 140 people after our wedding ceremony! It was great to work with Sam to set everything up and the drinks were delicious. We can highly recommend for Bible tea catering at events in the DMV!!“

“Cute small shop, coffee is good it tasted well and didn’t hurt my stomach after drinking. Only thing was there was a weird smell in the shop like a bathroom but nothing too heavy. Other than this it was a sweet place and sweet lady was friendly“

“Best Baristas in town- ESPECIALLY my man Oscar- he makes my mornings!!“

“The drink was absolutely delicious! The staff is always so kind, attentive, and friendly. I come here all the time because, in my opinion, this is the best bubble tea in the area. Everything is always so good, and the service makes the experience even better. Highly recommend!“

“Just wanted to write a great review for Alex at the drive thru on Friday morning July 10th, he kept great energy and was very patient with the my family in the car while we didn’t know what we wanted! Which I know could be annoying … lol. But he was happy through it all and even told us we looked like a fun car! Anyways thank you for the good laugh in the morning (=“

“Met a colleague for a coffee and was impressed with the decor and atmosphere. This will be a regular spot for me.“

“great Barista! very attentive and it was perfect.“

“We’ve been regular customers since well before Neal’s moved to its current location. The bagels are delicious (more New Yorky and flavorful than others in the area) and always fresh. The sliced turkey breast, Nova, and chicken salad are some of our favorites. Lots of other tasty menu items too. Highly recommend!“

“Our server Mr. John was very great. Even when my card declined, he was nice enough to use his own money to pay for my drink. Tables were prestinctly clear and very sparkling because John wiped it down. Very very good employee please give him a raise. If you ever see him here please give him a big tip for me my card declined so I couldnt tip him. He is the type of person to give 100 bubble teas to the homeless and not make me pay for them. Even when we were playing a game and he was our replacement mock fake player he won even though he was working hard. he was working hard and not hardly working for sure. 😧😂☺️😂🙃👏🙃“

“Which Starbucks ?“

“Excelente sitio para desayunar y compartir sus ricos dulces con toda la familia.“

“Having been to many boba shops across Texas and the DMV, this one stands above the rest. While the drinks, especially the fruit teas, taste amazing, it's the freshness and attention to detail in these drinks that really capture my attention. This location also sells Carmen's, which has some of the most creamy ice cream and rich Italian ice that I've ever tasted. The shop itself is very well-kept and the staff were super warm and welcoming. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a yummy dessert or just a quick refreshment.“

“This store has the BEST employees & customer appreciation! It is such a joy to go through the drive thru - multiple times weekly! - to get my daydream refresher and be greeted by the same consistently pleasant employees. There is one young man who has the best smile and always wishes me a wonderful day - regardless of how haphazard or chaotic I appear :) Seriously, if you want great customer service - and FABULOUS daydream refreshers - this is the store to come to. Thanks to all of you! You make my morning SO much easier!“

“Love this place been coming here for decades. They turned the McPlay place into a more mature outdoor seating area.
Two Cash Registers, Long ago were the tanks of CO2, now Roberts O2 does Bulk delivery with a tanker truck and house into the side of the building, like In air refuelling but not as cool. 20250925“

“Great coffee, nice selection of snacks and sandwiches. Friendly service.“

“I recently visited this bakery and had a wonderful experience. The bakery was clean, warm, and beautifully arranged, with the delicious smell of freshly baked items creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment I entered. The display counters were filled with a wide variety of cakes, pastries, cookies, breads, and desserts that all looked fresh and beautifully prepared.

The quality of the baked goods was excellent. Everything I tried tasted fresh, soft, and full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the pastries and cakes, which were perfectly sweet, moist, and made with high-quality ingredients. The bread was also fresh and had a wonderful texture and taste. It was clear that great care and attention went into every item.“

“This review is for Kathy and the store manager. I went to order a cake in person and they helped me despite of being slammed by regular orders. Kathy took time to make sure my order is right. I appreciate her and this store team working together for their customers. Their dedication and customer service speaks especially in contrast to the shady grove store that just sent me away and said they can’t do it.
I feel like the moral is good in this store. Keep up the great work!“
