“Showed up just before nine on our way through town. The place is quiet and unassuming, the facade is definitely worn, but the food is exceptional. It came out fast, piping hot and was delicious without exception. If you're looking to eat it in the car like we did, remember to ask for utensils.My only complaint is that we're three hours from home and can't make it a regular haunt.“

That hotpot was smokin and I thought I choose a milder one but it was excellent in taste for me. “This was the most authentic, delicious, Chinese food I've had since visiting China back in 2007. It brought back so many memories, I could have cried. I had the black vinegar peanuts, red chili sesame dumplings, and the minced pork noodles. I can't wait to go back. This is food I'll dream about.“

“Absolutely delicious food! I first came here six years ago for my husband’s birthday after hearing about the restaurant from a foodie. It’s an unpretentious spot with incredibly good food. We ordered 10+ different dishes that first time and loved everything, especially the dan dan noodles and the pork bun. Nothing can ever compare to their Dan Dan noodles no matter how many times we order them from different restaurants!

We moved far away after a few years, but when we came back to visit friends this month, this was the first restaurant we wanted to return to. The food was just as delicious as it was six years ago. Highly recommend!“

“Mostly self-serve service (order on tablet, pickup food at counter, toss away trash and put away tray yourself). Food is super unique and delicious, highly recommend as I've never seen another place that offers this cuisine. Intriguing flavor combinations. Good portion sizes for the price - come hungry or expect to take leftovers. Seating setups are also very interesting, the place is cutely decorated but there's some wonky chairs/tables.“

It is recently under new management and the way some items are prepared has changed, but still very tasty -- just a new twist on an old favorite. The one thing the new management needs is someone who knows their way around a bar. The people there this week had a very limited range of knowledge about drinks (gin on the rocks got a blank look), but once you explained they happily made a very acceptable drink.“

“Hhheeeyyyy FF. Dropped in for one thing and one thing only. Had a mad taste for a carryout steak and Cheese. This spot met my pilot. Hot, juicy, the extra mayo and onions complimented the steak and the soft roll. Fries were crisp and hot. This is an (RTS) Return to Spot.“

Let me tell you. First thing first. Customer service was top notch. The lady looked out by taking my order even though they are closed on Sunday. Except for Catering orders.

“Yesterday was my husband and I first time actually ordering from this carryout. I was craving a steak and cheese and my husband reminded me of Jerry Chans, which save us a drive because usually we would go Uptown NW DC to order our steak and cheese subs. We drive pass Jerry Chans almost everyday, but what throws us off is the fact that there is always vagrants around that area.... Anyway we called in our order and when we arrived I introduced myself to a nice lady that works there name Jane. Very pleasant lady. “The place is calm and the service is good they are very politely people but the only complain is that the food was better before I dont know if they had change the cookers or the recipes but lately I bought a wings with French fries and beef broccoli and shrimp lo mein so the rice of the beef broccoli which was for my wife was very dry hope the manager watch this message and solve this problem.“

“We liked this place and ordered vegetable fried rice and wings for pickup. Everything was very good, price was reasonable and the rice amount was ok for a large size order. Only thing I would say that they could have fried the rice little longer with little bit more soy sauce, then it could have been like authentic New York China Town style.“

“I was browsing through Chinese places and I came across Lucky Star. I must say, that this place exceeded my expectations. In the past, Ive tried other Chinese places and the concerns I've had were the food isn't hot its always warm or cold and that the taste of the food decreased. So I gave lucky star a try and I got the Steak & Cheese sub with an order of fries. Upon receiving my food, the lady who is always at the counter is so kind and she greets you with a friendly attitude and she even recognizes returning customers which is also a plus. Also, the food is. fresh and hot when you receive it and the food even tastes delicious!. So, if you're looking for a chinese place to go with great food, I recommend Lucky Star.“

“I ordered on UberEats yesterday after seeing a TikTok review on them. 10/10 would recommend. I ordered 4wings with mumbo sauce, shrimp egg roll, and shrimp and broccoli. Everything was bomb. Best mumbo sauce in the city hands down. I could tell by the color it was going to be fire! Wings were seasoned and good. Shrimp and broccoli was torch. Shrimp egg roll actually had a nice amount of shrimp. Everything was so goood. Only carry out I’m going to from now on.“

“To go order large Shrimp Egg Fu Yung with Xtra onions and bean sprouts. When I tell y'all that I tasted one onion and no bean sprout! That's exactly what I tasted zippo! Basically those two things missing makes this dish very bland!“

“We’ve had a hard time finding a go to Chinese restaurant in the area. We’ve ordered from here a few times, most recently moo goo gai pan and triple delight. Food was cooked to perfection (meat was tender, veggies were both soft & crispy), but lacks some of the typical Chinese veggies like water chestnuts and baby corn. Good balance of vegetables and meat, large portions.“

Beef broccoli good- not the best I’ve had but certainly good and beef seemed fresh- small place a bit of a wait time but staff was nice, I was offered a free soda for my wait. However, I do have some concerns about the location. It seems to be a bit inconsistent. Some days it's great, but other times I find myself hesitating to go there. I think it's something worth considering.“

“My go to chinese carryout place. Best place for chicken wings or other chicken pieces to eat as well and the fried rice. I tried fried rice from dozens of other carryouts and nothing comes close to their rice. Steak and cheese is the best and others dishes are great as well. Only problem is it's cash only other then that food is great.Btw ask for the hot sauce if you get fried chicken. The sauce is strong but goes well with the chicken!“

“Ordered off doordash I’m pregnant and I got the Singapore chow mei, a four piece wings and fries and shrimp fried rice when I say the Singapore chow mei was amazing I had substitutions and the followed it to the tea so thank you for that & everything else !“

“On my way into DC, I got takeout from Panda Express. On the way back home, I stopped at Wok-A-Holic in Union Station. The latter was decidedly much better—Wok-A-Holic’s orange chicken and broccoli chicken were far superior to Panda’s serviceable but bland orange chicken and broccoli beef. The fried rice was just okay, but overall I was pretty satisfied with the quality of my quick takeout meal.“

“The soup is amazing!! The soup does have a hint of lemon flavor, with orzo rice, chunks of chicken, carrots, and other vegetables in it. The pork chop meal is really good, especially when Ms. Karimi submits my special request!! The orzo rice is extremely soft, very good, and flavorful. The roasted potatoes are dangerously good and seasoned well. On Gyro Wednesday the gyros are $6.00. The tzaiki sauce is excellent to the taste, and pairs very well on the Greek salad, pork chops, and best with the roasted garlic potatoes!!!

Parking: Pay extremely close to where you park, and when you park due to the varied parking restrictions in the city.“
