this is because you are used to eating at restaurants that use fake ingredients and artificial flavor enhancers, as do most in the country, so sorry but you have no idea what real food tastes like. Ama makes real food, intentionally and wholeheartedly. They partner with local farmers, cook with real ingredients, and create a menu that will leave you feeling satiated and wonderful, as my friends and i did even after we ate through the menu AND ordered 4 desserts at the end.

“The Haymaker is a great cocktail bar and has some of the best and hardest working bartenders in DC. When we arrived, the bar counter seats were almost full. Three cocktails in and the whole place was packed with 90/95% having cocktails, our refills still came quickly. Why only 4 star? They have changed the food menu and not for the better. The dumplings are still great. We also had the quesadilla. My wife liked it, I thought it was generic. We both thought the loaded tots were a major fail, the 'load', what little there was of it, had all fallen off and was in the bottom of the bowl. The draft beer choice is also weak, with Goose Island being their premium beer. I hope they change up their menu for the better.“

“We were apartment hunting in the area when we stumbled upon this bar and decided to grab a couple of drinks before our next tour. We ended up having such an amazing time! “Let me start off by saying that my son and I had an excellent time watching Bit Brigade! We purchased the premium seating which in my opinion is only really premium If you can get lined up against the railing upstairs. There are some tables there, but you really can't see the band below from said tables. So basically you're paying extra to be able to go upstairs and hopefully get a spot by the railing or have access to some extra tables. Luckily there were some nice people next to us that let my kids sit up front so they can get a good view.
We got a pizza and it just wasn't very good and the fry portions they give were pretty lame. I do however recommend the pickled veg or smoked olives. The bar service was very attentive and quick so I did appreciate that.
Acoustics were great! The bass sounded great and the drums hit nicely.
This isn't really a problem with Pearl Street Harbor itself, but with any place in that general area - but parking was horrendous and getting there was extremely stressful.
Overall a really fun experience and now that I have a better lay of the land, I will likely be back again!“

“When you think of a speakeasy… this place looks like what comes to mind. Down a flight of stairs leading to oversized doors you find yourself stepping back in time and greeted by a skilled bartender sporting a handlebar mustache. Great for an after dinner drink or to just hang out with friends.“

“If you're looking for a simple and perfect bar experience, Last Call is the place to be. It's not over the top or crazy impressive—just a good, solid bar, which is hard to find in this area. Everywhere else we went, the drinks were expensive, with just one tab and four people drinking. City prices are always so high!

The owners of this bar aren't trying to make a crazy amount of money, which is refreshing. We actually got to enjoy drinks without feeling broke by the end of the night. Thank you, Last Call, for being an approachable bar scene.

We had so much fun playing all the different games, who knew tic tac toe with an axe spin could be so competitive and so fun!

“I’ve been there twice. The first time the Crocker fish was so good. I was telling everyone about it. I went there today and ordered the croaker and okra. The fish didn’t have any seasoning on it at all. So I had to use the hot sauce packs. The first time I didn’t use it. The hot sauce is nasty as well. It’s a bloody red looking color. A cheap brand. The okra and fish both fried correctly just no seasoning. I’m not sure if it’s different cooks or what. For $17 they have to be consistent with the flavor. I’ll try again, if it’s not seasoned again, I will just go for the drinks. Nice crowd and speedy service.“
