We ordered 10+ different dishes that first time and loved everything, especially the dan dan noodles and the pork bun. “This is the best takeout Chinese I’ve had in Maryland period. The Mongolian beef, Szechuan beef and crispy beef are all fantastic. The Mongolian beef especially is my favorite with a wonderful charred flavor. Also the dishes come with rice and the rice is cooked to perfection, not mushy at all. “We've been eating here for over 20 years and it has always been good. It is recently under new management and the way some items are prepared has changed, but still very tasty -- just a new twist on an old favorite. The one thing the new management needs is someone who knows their way around a bar. The people there this week had a very limited range of knowledge about drinks (gin on the rocks got a blank look), but once you explained they happily made a very acceptable drink.“

“This is a nice reminder of what authentic Chinese food taste like. We tried slices beef with peppers, spring rolls, egg drop soup, and chicken fried rice. Everything was piping hot and well flavored.

The only thing to be modified is the time it took to take drink orders and the order of food delivery (the preference is for appetizers to come out before the meal but asking the customer if all is desired together is good).

The venue is spacious, the light is well balanced and it has nice music playing juat enough to set the scene for authentic cuisine. We will definitely be back when we return to DC.“

“I love this place. No it doesn’t have the best ambiance being in a strip mall and the interior probably needs work. But they aren’t selling a dining experience, they are essentially takeout only which means they are selling the food.

The food is solid. I am a very picky eater, and I’ve returned to this place many times. It’s authentic and flavorful. They also give you large portions and they are not expensive. I used to drive to Columbia just for Singapore noodles because I didn’t know where else to get them done well.

So far I’ve had the singapore noodle, general tso, combo rice, and steak and cheese sandwich. i really enjoyed that steak and cheese! but i don’t like crinkle fries which is what they serve.

In the past, Ive tried other Chinese places and the concerns I've had were the food isn't hot its always warm or cold and that the taste of the food decreased. So I gave lucky star a try and I got the Steak & Cheese sub with an order of fries. Upon receiving my food, the lady who is always at the counter is so kind and she greets you with a friendly attitude and she even recognizes returning customers which is also a plus. “I was genuinely impressed when I attended a yelp event there recently. I thought the decor fit the space perfectly. There are a lot of seats and they did a great job not having it feel crammed. Everything was very on theme from the lighting to the walls you really felt transported.

The food was fantastic across the board. One of my absolute favorites was the cheesesteak eggrolls. Cheesesteaks are one of my favorite sandwiches, and this was such a fun twist on it. They were crispy, flavorful, and just really well done.

Their donuts were another highlight. They were incredibly fresh and light, which made them dangerously easy to keep eating. Definitely the perfect thing to overindulge in.

I also have to mention the broccoli. I know that sounds random, but the way they cook it is fantastic. It still had a great crunch while being packed with flavor, which is not always easy to pull off. We tried a shrimp and broccoli dish, and honestly the broccoli alone made it one of my favorite bites of the night.

We sampled quite a few dishes during the event including the crab rangoons, Singapore noodles, fried rice, and two different types of chicken wings. I tried the wings with the wok sauce and they immediately reminded me of Korean fried chicken. They had that perfect crisp with a slightly sweet glaze that worked really well.

Even though we were there during a special event, the service was still excellent. Everything came out smoothly and the team was very attentive. Toward the end of the evening the owners came out and personally thanked everyone for visiting, which was a really nice touch.

The roasted potatoes are dangerously good and seasoned well. On Gyro Wednesday the gyros are $6.00. The tzaiki sauce is excellent to the taste, and pairs very well on the Greek salad, pork chops, and best with the roasted garlic potatoes!!!
