“Yesterday was my first time there, myself and a party of five. One member of our party arrived and had the table reserve the wait was 30 minutes, took that long for the rest of us to arrive; when we did we were seated rather fast. The crab bomb stole the show, best any of us ever had. Second runner up the crab soup also the baked potatoe was well portioned and was not dried out. The haddock was fried to perfection, and the cake dessert oh my, I ordered dessert to go, When I later dugged into the lemon pound cake each morsel was delicious, as if it was home made. Over all an excellent dining experience, a little pricey but was worth every single dime, we will return.“

“Food choices were amazing and my server was top notch!! There were so many options on the menu. Can't wait to go back. I had the crab dip and the Kona Steak Skewers for apps. Along with Seafood Ravioli as an entree. Oh, the Jameson Whiskey cocktail was delightful as well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“This is probably the best pasta I’ve had in DC. I’ve been here twice for dinner now, and the pastas were all great. We got a few smaller portions - the alla norma, taglioni, rigatoni, and agnolotti - all were good. We also tried the sfincione [we are both Sicilian], which was OK but not really a sfincione. Good wine selection and great espresso martinis too. Will return.“

“My friends and I went to Motorkat today after attending a play in Olney. Mikey was our server and was a stellar server. He was friendly yet professional. We came in with an appetite. We started with the smoked salmon and artichoke dip. The portion size was nice, and the chunky texture and flavor fit well with the Saltines. Next was the pistou salad, roasted sunchokes and the pork belly with creamy grits. The pistou salad was artfully plated and was soo good. The roasted sunchokes came with a miso ranch dressing and sesame seeds. It was so good and the mixed textures worked well. The pork belly sat on a bed of the creamiest grits I've ever had. The pork belly was tender, and the smoky tomatoes were a great paring and provided just enough acidity to cut through the richness of the dish. Still hungry, we ordered the flank cut short ribs and broccolini. The grilled broccoli were lighly tossed with chili garlic sauce, peanuts and basil. Divine. The flank cut ribs were Cumin scented and accented with a tart cucumber salad. They were fork tender and very flavorful. Our only disappointment was the scallion Pancake with pickled vegetables. We felt that overall then presentation was nice, but the Pancake was a bit thick and was a bit charred on the bottom. The pickled vegetables overpowered the pancake.. Out meal ended with mango sorbet. Overall, we loved the service Mikey provided, and all the staff was gracious. I highly recommend this spot for dinner. Thank you!“

“My husband really wanted some fish so we tried this place. The fish is fresh they clean and cook it. Order ahead because the lines are long and so is the wait. He said the fish was ok but needed more seasoning. The fries were great!
Parking: It was crowded and parking was slim I found a parking space right in front but people were pulling up in the street and parking next to parked cars and picking up their food. It could cause a problem especially doing rush hour.“

“They give you a lot of tasty food. In today's financial climate it's good to get value for your dollar and Mid Atlantic Seafood does just that. In addition, their food is well seasoned and very tasty. No matter if you get a sandwich, a soulfood entre or seafood you definitely will get a meal that tastes good, but you get value. I recommend Mid Atlantic Seafood to everyone.“

“Everything about this place was A++. Not sure how this place has not come up for me or my husband before but came here Tuesday night and we’re officially deeming this our go to spot. Everything was delicious and legitimately the best Mexican restaurant in DC and the best Margaritas in town.
1. The fajitas (chorizo, chicken, steak) had amazing flavor including the side of refried beans, steak was tender, didn’t skimp you on the veggies.
2. The chicken tamales did not disappoint - you can tell they care about their masa, and the chicken inside was juicy, not dry like many places.
3. The frozen margaritas were freshly made it isn’t just a bunch of syrup. I actually wasn’t going to get one but Oscar put my concerns at ease and pointed out it was still happy hour.
Such a relief to find a spot where you can count on food being delicious, where the vibe is chill and the people are great! Thank you Oscar, Diego, and Chris!“

“Returning to Washington from a France worn down by its own melancholy — a nation led by a presidential couple seemingly disconnected from l'esprit de grandeur — was a relief. The Monocle, nestled just a short pas de géant from Capitol Hill, felt like an antidote. Walking through its doors, I immediately felt transported, like one of the CIA operatives from Lioness Psy-Ops, covertly meeting allies in a safe haven of quiet luxury. Opened in October 1960 by Connie and Helen Valanos, The Monocle has seen more political deals sealed over its crab cakes than perhaps in the chambers of Congress themselves. As the Washingtonian noted, “The Monocle is a better restaurant than it’s given credit for,” serving dishes like “pan-fried Chesapeake Bay oysters baked in a light curry sauce” that feel like culinary diplomacy at its finest. What strikes one immediately is the duality of the space: half public house, half refined eatery. In the restaurant's more elegant quarters, I chose a glass of Sancerre, its mineral brightness pairing effortlessly with the signature crab cakes — plump, golden, and loaded with chair de crabe so sweet it could make a New Englander weep. A red wine-braised New York strip followed, its sauce reminiscent of the old-world simplicity one finds in France’s brasseries, yet undeniably American in its confident presentation. The maître d’, Nick Selimos — a fixture here for nearly three decades — greeted every guest with the kind of warmth that makes even the most hardened lobbyist feel comme chez soi. “There’s nothing more satisfying,” said John Valanos, the owner, “than having someone say, ‘We’ll come back ourselves.’” And come back they do — senators, staffers, and curious tourists alike. Sipping a digestif, I glanced at the black-and-white photos adorning the walls — Kennedy, Nixon, and other Washington titans. It’s said JFK dined here regularly during his Senate days. As The Washington Post humorously observed, "Intentions are spoken here, alliances formed, and deals sealed," all over dishes that balance simplicity and sophistication. Leaving The Monocle, I felt reconnected to the vibrancy of Washington, its pulse steadied by the legacy of places like this — where history, gastronomy, and a touch of joie de vivre blend into something unforgettable.“

“I went to Hen Quarter Prime for Brunch on a Sunday and the food at the buffet was great, the only thing I wish was the crab legs were steamed instead of being on ice. But I understand that is difficult to do for a buffet setup. Z gave amazing service, my cup for the bottomless mimosa stayed runneth over. I will definitely be returning.“

“Got fried croaker dinner with red potatoes and brussel sprouts. Enough food for 2 days. Red potatoes cooked to perfection. Sprouts seasoned perfectly without being salty. I fortunately, the fish was disappointing, greasy, small (2 pieces). Didn't enjoy either, picked through it and trashed it. I won't attempt anything else like that again.
Staff was friendly.“

“Everything was really good, we got wings and red snapper (I ordered catfish but didn’t understand me) the wings were fresh and crispy, I got lemon pepper wet and the fried rice was great. There’s a bit of a language barrier, they mostly speak Spanish, but other than that 10/10“

“This was my first time at this place and I was not disappointed! However, I may be a little biased. I'm located in Savannah, Georgia and I'm a huge blue crab connoisseur. The crabs weren't bad but I probably prefer them a little more seasoned and I'm so accustomed to Old Bay here so the new seasoning was different not as salty .... If needed I could relocate and be ok“

“Great customer service! I sent a FB message last night asking about getting crabs for today. They responded this morning apologizing that they did not have crabs because the season was winding down. A short time later they sent me a second message that they would be getting a couple bushels later in the afternoon and asked if I would still like to place an order. I really appreciated their reaching back out, it made my Dad’s Birthday.“

“I can not believe this place. So first it has an indoor and outdoor place to order. The customer service was amazing. I was greeted and helped as soon as I walked in because they're were several people taking orders. Not only that but the Crabs were done already. I've never seen that before. It was like all she had to do was put them in a bag. They were still warm 15 minutes later when I was able to eat them. They were so so good too. I paid $20 for 1 dozen and I swear there were like 16 in the bag. This was super convenient as I was delivering a truck to Giant and could eat on My Lunch break.“

“I was on the hunt for the ideal restaurant that offered a city vibe but was conveniently close to home. I lucked out and snagged the last reservation, as they were fully booked for the evening. The atmosphere was spot-on as soon as I walked in. We were seated quickly once a table became available, and after the drinks and food arrived, I understood why reservations were so hard to come by! The menu felt familiar, but the flavors in each dish were a refreshing surprise, with everything cooked to perfection. Our waitress was fantastic, and the entire staff was welcoming and attentive.“

“I had the chance to stop by Seafood Boss today and try their food! Everything was so good! The seafood salad is definitely a must have and one you absolutely can’t leave without! The Henny Wings were juicy and flavorful without being overpowering of alcohol. Also, don’t forget to try the fish and shrimp and well! Very tasty and crispy! Will definitely be returning and bring others to try it with me! Oh, and the STAFF was WELCOMING! I felt like my business was wanted here and they actually made sure you didn’t leave without being satisfied!
Thanks Seafood Boss ?“
“Backed by Clyde’s reputation (and finances), Cordelia did it right. Stefano took care of me at the bar and is a seasoned professional. Explained the restaurant’s approach, menu, and fun facts plus chatted with me appropriately throughout the dinner. Their happy hour is unparalleled and I got a decent rum punch cocktail (not pre-made) with 12 delicious oysters, a hamachi crudo (that was wildly on point), and jumbo raw shrimp for well under $100. Couldn’t recommend this spot enough and will return.“

“I had a pretty good impression overall of checking out this seafood restaurant. It is a family-run business. A quaint 2nd-3rd generation Asian family who has been running this gem ?. Good for them!I went with the crab cake platter which included 2 sides. I picked the coleslaw and french fries. The crab cake was good ??. I loved the crinkle cut fries! The cashier, the daughter of the own I presume, was uber friendly and knowledgeable about things. We talked for a bit. One of the things, I talked with her about was the newly instituted 'Better Bag Bill' in Prince George's County ? (since January 1, 2024.) The new law has enacted that applicable restaurants/businesses are allowed charge a minimum of 10 cents/ paper bag or reusable bag bought by a customer at checkout. I am for the bill ✅, but one of their regular customers (an old school, younger Black lady) was not, so she griped about it whilst she go her to-go order ??.Overall, however, I do have two cons: 1) I wish the crab cake was FRESH and not from frozen ??. I'm all about quality and not convenience - and 2) that coleslaw side was too SMALL as a side. It should equal the size of the french fries I had in my order ??♀️. Those are my thoughts. If I'm in the area I'd pop by or tell a friend, it's a cool spot especially good conversation which I appreciated ?. Cheers!

“Tried this spot today. The food was excellent, customer service was good. I visited during the day when it wasn’t crowded. Shrimp fried rice had flavor and I love the fact it had fresh onions in it. Fish was crispy n tasty, I just wish seafood spots would fry their fish in seasoned cornmeal like they used to back in the day. Cornmeal is key when it comes to frying fish n shrimp. If they did that this place would be the #1 spot in the area. I’d definitely come back when my cravings hit again.“
