“From the moment we arrived, our experience was nothing short of amazing. The food was outstanding—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was warm, friendly, and fun, making it the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. On top of that, the location is fantastic, with plenty of activities nearby to enjoy before or after your meal, which really added to the overall experience. The highlight of our visit, however, was our waitress, Ashley W. She went above and beyond in every way. Ashley anticipated our every need before we even had to ask, showing an attentiveness that is rare to find. She was friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable about the menu, which made ordering so much easier and more enjoyable. Her positive energy and genuine care turned what was already a great dining experience into something truly memorable. Ashley is, without a doubt, the main reason my family and I plan to return. Her service left such a lasting impression on us that we would gladly make the trip back to Michigan just to eat here again. It is rare to come across someone who takes so much pride in their work and makes every guest feel special, but Ashley did exactly that. She is an absolute asset to this restaurant, and we cannot thank her enough for making our visit exceptional.“

“We really enjoyed our visit to SavannahBlue! Most of our party came from Lansing and it was worth the drive!

Definitely going back again for date night or something! I booked a table to celebrate my mom’s and my husband’s birthdays! From the reservations, to the food, drinks, and service, everything was great! I should have taken pictures of everyone’s food but we were ready to eat!

They even brought our cookie skillets for the birthday man and lady! Monet (I hope that’s the correct spelling) handled our table and she was so amazing!

The only cons were the stair situation and the payment policy for a part of 10 or more which they do notify you of when making a reservation. We made it work but it just wasn’t favorable!

The pictures are mine and my husband’s meals, but I also tasted the catfish, yams, Mac and cheese, risotto, greens, Parmesan grits, and one of my favs the Crab Dip omg! 😍😍😍 I can’t wait to go back!“

“Detroit soul is possibly the best meal from start to finish I've had in years. Walking in you notice how delicious everything smells, how clean everything is and how friendly everyone who works here is. The food is top notch. The breadding on the catfish fritters made my mouth water, the greens made me want to write home, the mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and the meatloaf was so tender and tasty. Then the dessert! Peach cobbler that made me make obscene noises, the creamy vanilla scoop and the amazing red pop sorbet were bursting with flavorful perfection. I highly recommend going here and trying everything.“

“This place is absolutely insane! 🤩 First-time customer, and I was blown away. The customer service was some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Everyone was so friendly, and they were genuinely excited to let you taste everything. You can tell they are very confident in what they serve.

No place in Detroit has prices like theirs, and the environment is very clean. I definitely recommend giving them a try!

“Exceptional service with waitress Jenelle and food was wonderful (catfish, greens, candied yams, dressing). The catfish was seasoned and fried to perfection, moist and meaty on inside and golden brown and crisp on outside. The decor is a little worn and needs refreshing but food and service certainly uplifts the experience.“

“Now listen up!! I’m from the south! North Carolina born and raised. I was only here for the summer. I’ve been craving soul food! NOW let’s me tell you. I got the fried catfish with candied yams, Mac and cheese, additional side of collards and a piece of cornbread! CATFISH HAD out of this world seasoning and the perfect crisp to it. The collards I loved and YAMS boy oh boy. The only thing is the Mac and cheese could’ve been seasoned more but overall everything was a 10/10. “Had a taste for Soul Food. I was traveling 75N through Detroit and wanted to find an authentic place right off the interstate. When I got my food and had a side of hot sauce that I didn't specifically request, I knew this was the real deal. Took me 10 minutes to get there off of the interstate. Most people probably place their order online and pickup because there is no in person dining. Option 2, which is what I did, is to walk up to the window and order. My food took about 20 minutes to get ready. I ordered 2 plates. Each plate comes with 2 sides. The serving size is large so you definitely get your money's worth. I'm from the South. The food reminded me of home. Altogether between both plates I tried fried porkchops, meatloaf smothered in gravy, collard greens, yams, Mac and cheese, and cornbread. I will definitely stop here again.“

“Had out of town guest, went there on a Sunday for lunch, first the hostess look like she just woke up and throw on the first thing she saw. Second our waitress arrived with an ATTITUDE slam our water on the table and threw our straws down and walk away didn't speak or introduce herself. Third a very sweet young lady came to serve us name STACIE she was very attentive, she stop us from leaving with her friendly attitude. Food was great, I come back if STACIE still there.“

“I went to Velle's Grille yesterday for dinner in the hope of supporting a black owned business. I have no regrets. I had the Turkey Chops with Mac & cheese, collard greens and a side of yams. Good portion sizes. Everything was hot and seasoned perfectly. My meal was delicious. My husband had chicken wings with baked beans and macaroni. He also ordered a burger. He says the burger was delicious and the sides were on point. He woke up and ate the chicken for breakfast and he says we gotta go back lol. Overall we are definitely giving this place another chance.“

And they have so many manu items that I cant wait to go back and try. Nobody in Detroit makes Salmon croquets served with rice and gravy 😋 (my preference over grits)👌with scrambled eggs as good as J's does. “I recently dined here with my significant other; 12/28/25 just as an “wind down “ intimate dinner prior to the end of the year. I had frequented Savannah Blue a few times, however this was my guy's first time. We both ordered the salmon with grits which was well prepared and seasoned to perfection; very delicious. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The music level was a bit loud. We had to talk loudly to hear each other. Our waitress, her name escapes me, was very attentive and friendly. He recently stopped chicken and will only eat turkey. ive made so many turkey dishes the last few months since him stopping chicken and i know hes getting bored. “I ordered a catfish and chicken wing ding combo and the chicken drum/flat were literally less than an inch long each. I couldn't believe they would serve a portion of that size. The remainder of the food was seasoned well. My husband and I went back, terrible decision, July 27th. We ordered food at 1230 and we got our food at 150am when the place closed. We asked for our table to be cleaned-never happened. The staff were rude at closing, the music was shut off and lights turned on in the middle of a song without warning. Staff started yelling, "Get out, you need to leave!" We were still waiting on our food. Staff yelled that phrase to us and we told him we have been waiting on our food fir over an hour. They were still trying to make us leave without our dinner. We eventually received our food and left. It cost $40 to get in, there's a drink minimum and 20% gratuity on food. We will not be returning and if anybod6asks about this restaurant, I will discourage them from patronizing this business.“

“I could eat at celebrities bar and grill everyday! The lamb chops are great with the celebity sauce a must try you won't be disappointed. I normally get turkey chops with a side of mac n cheese and a side of yams and they never disappoint. They know what they're doing with the food so give them a try if you never had it you'll be glad you did. Only thing I wish they would change is taking orders over the phone again because it can be a nice little wait sometimes to get your food after you order in person depending on how busy they are.“
