“I’ve been buying and drinking Schuil coffee for years. I live only minutes from the store location but I’ve ordered it online and bought it in the supermarket as well. My favorite is going into the store though. All of their coffee flavors I’ve tried, and it’s countless, have been high-quality, dimensional in flavor, and fresh. “I recommend everything! This is like finding a rare gold coin in your pocket change, or a Monet at the Salvation Army thrift store. Or stepping into Paris from the sidewalk in southeast Grand Rapids. Go slowly! Each nibble fills you with bright, exotic sensations. We go for the scones, cookies and madeleines. Today we tried the financiers, ginger passion fruit and s’more. Yes, it’s a fusion of French and American, but it’s how they’d do it in Paris.“

“I had their pour-over coffee and was impressed by the beautiful fruity notes that came through. What I really appreciated was that they use a machine for the pour-over process, which ensures both speed and consistency in taste - you get the same excellent flavor every time.

The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, and the staff are genuinely friendly and attentive. For those driving, there's convenient parking available in the back with space for about 8 cars.

“We did a private tour of Grand Rapids Coffee Roasters. It was a group of 4 and lasted 1.5-2 hours.

When we arrived we were welcomed warmly. Craig and Stephanie (I think?) offered us a glass of their cold brew to start out. It was delicious!

Craig walked through everything you could possibly think of related to coffee including:
- Types of plants
- Harvesting styles
- Extracting the “beans” (pit) from the cherry
- What “cupping” is
- The buying of the beans
- Showing us the raw “beans” and letting us feel and smell them
- Discussing the quality of the product
- Discussing roasting and differences
- Discussing the brewing methods etc
- The tour also includes selecting raw beans and roasting them and taking them home
- Craig also discussed the history of GRCR and his visiting of various farms
- A demonstration of the perfect pour over
- Each person received a gift bag with a pen, sticker, coffee mug, and 12 oz bag of the coffee that we roasted.

It was a lovely personal tour. Craig answered all of our questions and was extremely patient. We had a lot of questions! I highly recommend doing the private tour if you are able.“

The cafe has had a lot of cozy improvements and updates made recently which makes it even more lovely to spend time at. My personal favorite order is an iced vanilla latte and it is truly the BEST vanilla latte I've had, ever. The house made syrup is divine. Our barista, Keegan, was so kind and took great pride in every detail. I loved the décor and how they showcase their employees.
