“Frequently meet friends and have some of the best brunch in the city. Always busy but for a reason, and the service and hospitality which are already top notch, do not suffer. An example of this is when they bring you your food they remember who ordered which plate. This is one of those underrated hospitality things they do that other establishments don’t reach. I will always be back :)“

“Our favorite restaurant no longer serves Manhattan style clam chowder and we are nothing less than heartbroken. We didn't realize that our favorite thing there wasn't popular enough to retain as a menu item when Leo's changed hands. We can live with the smaller lobster tails, but this is really hard for us to take. Cry.“

We were very happy with everything from the time we entered to the time we left and here is why…

1. Staff - all that we interacted with were very kind, nice, helpful, and attentive. Our waitress was well versed in the menu and did a great job. We enjoyed having her serve us.

2. Food - today we went right for the entree (skipped apps) and could have been more pleased.

My chicken strips and tots were done to a crispy golden perfection that I just loved with the BBQ sauce they served. Highly recommend.

My wife said her burger was excellent and the loaded tots were so good she could have had them just on their own.

And the prices were very reasonable yet, worth it.

3. Atmosphere - a sports bar with many TVs for fans to watch the game (myself included) is a perfect atmosphere for me but when you go to converse with others, it’s always perfect when nothing over powers your conversation.

By this I mean the TVs were not blaring and neither was music. It was a calm easy going feel where we both could enjoy great conversation without saying “huh? Can’t hear you.”

All in all, we may have waited a few years before trying Big E’s on Beltline in Grand Rapids but better late then never. We will be back and recommend it to anyone interested.“

“The best Pinapple shake, great burgers and chicken stripe. Have had their onion rings too. So worth it. I make it a point to getting their twice a month. For my own little reward. I have 2 other now that also enjoy coney island. So it's not just my taste bud enjoying their scrumptious ness. I do like their customer service too very warm and welcoming. Give em a try.“

“Had a fantastic time. Showed up without a reservation on a Friday night. We got seated immediately near the salt water fish tank.

Servers were incredible. Personable, upbeat, made suggestions, even spent a few minutes telling us all the fish's names (Shout-out to Insane Clown Posse, Flapjack, and Spaghetti)

The drinks were great. They are tiki drinks, so you know they are way too crushable for how much rum is in them.

I got the Szechuan pork bowl, veggie spring rolls and both were great. Pork bowl was such a unique flavor and everything melded together perfect.

The spring rolls were some of the crispiest I've ever had.

And the atmosphere was nailed. It felt like your grandparents 60s basement.“

“We are here today for lunch. We are in town for States for Hockey and staying next door. By far the best restaurant experience I have ever had in my life. Fast, very friendly service. We got the salad/pizza bar and my son wanted a specific pizza and the made it right away fresh and hot and came to our table to tell us when it was ready so he could go get some. He’s picky and sometimes hard to please with food and no restaurant has ever been this kind an amazing to him. We have been places that won’t even bring refills in seven time. This restaurant was on top of everything! It was a great experience and we will definitely be back as we frequent Grand Rapids with 3 kids in hockey.“

“We came to try out the city sen restaurant. My husband had the mushroom goat cheeseburger. He said it was juicy and flavorful --no condiments necessary. I had the beef quesadillas. although this was on the shareable menu, it was quite large enough for me as a meal. The food was good, but it was the little amenities that made it very special --the unique silverware, carafe of ice water and pleasant ambient music in a modern setting made it a very special place for our date. It was fun to people watch through the open air windows. ( they fold close to keep in the AC if needed )Alex the manager shared with us some things we want to come back for, live music, etc. definitely planning to go back!

Wheelchair accessibility: The restrooms are quite large with low sinks and wide stalls. Although they are on the lower level, the elevator is also large and quite quick.“

“Tupelo Honey easily became one of my favorite restaurants when it first appeared on the scene here in Grand Rapids. Since then, I’ve been a regular and have been treated as such. I’ve enjoyed their rotating menu, though I’m very sad to see so many of my favorites go, but I can look forward to new options. Over time, they’ve been accommodating for me and my food restrictions, and I’ve been able to enjoy the atmosphere with it being so conveniently located downtown. It's an easy go-to for a casual meal before or after an outing. Of course, I must give a special shoutout to the servers who are always very kind and knowledgeable, especially Charles. I have Tupelo Honey to thank for many celebrations, birthdays, and relationships I’ve built over time :)“

Grand Rapids is growing... amphitheaters, soccer stadiums, yeesh. Any thriving city deserves a good comedy club, and a lot actually don't have one. This place is bringing in amazing comedians, and the atmosphere is electric! Good food, great staff, amazing times.“

“I had so many amazing & positive experiences with Portico over my wedding weekend. We hosted our cocktail hour for our wedding at the Portico and it was nothing short of incredible. The food was amazing, the staff was attentive, kind and flexible, and the space was perfect.
We also ordered breakfast take out for the bridal party on the day of the wedding, and it all turned out perfect. The food was hot, delicious and the perfect thing to have on the day I got married! I loved the breakfast sandwich so much that I ordered it to my room when I woke up the day after my wedding. The restaurant is in an awesome location and helped us have an amazing wedding weekend!
