“I went to Taj AL-Yemen simply because it was open early and did not realize the space they took over nor how much variety they have.

1st this was a very famous breakfast spot in Hamtramck before the change of owners and I'm happy to say it still is. Very steady stream of workers coming in for a quick bite or grab coffee and something to go.

2nd the variety is wide and it's all very very good. I ordered fosoulia with egg, chicken galaba but it was too early for tandoori bread. I also got a mango lassi (yes I have to order it everytime I see it)

When I arrived I first drove past remembering the old spot then I double checked GPS. The inside layout of the restaurant has been redone, lots and lots of seating. You still have the doughnut counter but the I noticed Burek, whenever I see Burek I have to order it they have feta and spiced beef. It's super fresh and still warm at 7:15 am.

There's another hot food case, lots of choices but I saw the East African/Western Arabian (Arab/Swahili) style sambosas (yes with the B!) and of course I had to get 6 of those with the spice shake.

Additionally they have the same Arab/Swahili style sesame + honey crackers so I had to get some of these as well.

FINALLY I'm looking and they have the tastiest looking Saffron Rice and it was too fresh to pass up and a medium size box also had to come with me.

Now when I say I bought a lot of food I really mean I bought a lot of food. With tip it was only $70 and I'll be eating for days.

So happy to have found this gem in Hamtramck that opens up super early on my 2nd day of vacation. There's too much good food, the doughnut also look amazing. I'd say you have to go for the samBosas alone.“

“Not only is the food amazing, but the service here is unparalleled. Through a mistake of my own, my order was actually not placed when I thought it was. Even after figuring out it was my fault the wonderful staff here rushed my order through very fast, and were apologizing to me even though it was my fault. That’s not the type of service you get just anywhere. And the food? The Chicken Mandi was literally “fall off the bone” tender. The rice was cooked to perfection and you can tell their sauces are made fresh and in house. All of this for the most reasonably priced middle eastern food around. One thing is for sure, the Yemeni brothers and sisters who work here take pride in their work. 10/10 recommend.“

“This place is awesome. The service is incredible. But the food was even better! The interior of it takes you back to a simpler time. Family owned and operated. The server was the sister of the cook. The coney dogs didn’t stand a chance. Fries were so crunchy and delicious. While there, the folks sitting to the left of me ordered breakfast. I’m definitely coming back just based off of how good their hash browns looked. 10/10. Definitely coming back!“

“I went to the Middle Eats on Eureka Rd in Southgate after the gym. My doctor put me a pretty restrictive diet due to my diabetes. I admit I was kind of apprehensive walking in because it’s been a real chore to stick to it when I have to eat out. I walked in and a young lady named Kayla R was at the counter. I apologized to her saying I need to ask questions about my order and I’m on dietary restrictions. She was incredibly nice and understanding. She asked me what I could and couldn’t eat and even made suggestions on how to make my meal that would comply to the restrictions. She even said she could make a phone call to find the exact ingredients of the sauce if I wanted her to. I was so impressed. In the end I got a bowl that complied to the dietary restrictions and it was very good. The other employees were also making suggestions and when I apologized for being a pain they all said they were happy to help. This wasn’t my first time there and it definitely won’t be my last. I can’t express my gratitude on how they all went totally out of their way to accommodate me. Thank you Kayla and staff!“

“At a recent family birthday celebration, I needed appetizers at the last minute. I went to the right people for help! It was no problem for Kal and Ann! They cheerfully made fresh batches of delicious hummus (two varieties) which came with chips and pita bread. I served that, along with two kinds of their fabulous soup, to my dinner guests. Everyone complimented the delicious food Kal and Ann prepared. If you haven’t tried KAL’s Lunch Bowl, located in the Royal Oak Farmers Market yet, I recommend it. “Came to the food court sad and tired after I missed a return date on my clothes, guy called me over for a sample of his shawarma and I really liked it. He then threw a piece of bread on the ground because a bird had gotten in the food court and the bird swooped down and ate it. I ordered a chicken shawarma wrap with hummus and it tasted like probably one of the best shawarmas I’ve ever eaten, the bread pair amazingly with the freshly made hummus aswell next time I’m at Oakland mall I’ll definetly head over to golden chicken, made my day much better.“

We also ordered the kids grilled chicken and fries meal and the chicken is A1 delicious soft and seasoned perfect... All of their food is very authentic and delicious with great portion sizes. “Just moved to the area & tried them for the first time about a month ago and They have the BEEEESSSSTTT chicken shawarma EVEEER. Every time I get one it has the right amount of everything. Literally portioned perfectly. Garlic sauce in every bite, pickle and the right amount of chicken. You can tell it’s all white meat as well. I don’t too much care for dark meat in shawarma. Last night me and my boyfriend got a platter right before closing and it was fresh and hot !!! They have fresh puff bread too. Man o man was it amazingly good. My ONLY complaint is that I wish they put more shawarma chicken/steak.. they were a little stingy with that but other than that it was delicious. I eat here weekly now 😩😂😂“
