“Went to FrameBar yesterday for the BirriaBar pop-up with chef Eddie Vargas. Food was excellent and a great value for the amount of food at the price point. I loved that the chef was making the rounds in the dining room to ensure every customer was satisfied. The birria platter and quesabirria were both great, as well as the salsas, queso, and aguacates. Lastly, the bar had good Mexican-inspired drink options, with the smoked Oaxacan old fashioned being my favorite for both taste and presentation. Great work all around.“

“I visited this past Valentine’s Day weekend and visited again this past Saturday night. I didn’t have a reservation but still got seated very quickly. It was a hot, muggy night and the hostess said she had a seat on the patio which I was fine with. I had a magnificent server, Florence, who was kind, thoughtful to recommend a drink to the person I was with and even when our drinks were brought out within a short time, apologized for the delay (which wasn’t necessary). I wish I could give a review on the party next to us because they were extremely rude, not only not giving consideration to others being on the patio but were also incredibly rude to Florence. One woman in particular was grandstanding in front of this group and demanded to speak to a manager. Florence and the Manager were both composed and dignified in spite of a rude patron that was looking to get her bill comped (for a party of nearly a dozen people) going so far as to threatening to have everyone at her table write a terrible review. I have worked in the service industry and so have so many people I know and love so this situation had me worked up and I felt it necessary to write a review that our experience was magnificent. Don’t be an a-hole to servers of any kind just because you’re an a-hole yourself. If you give respect, you get respect. Go to The Sugar House. Be a good customer.“

“Great food options for a smallish bar. There is a chef there during week (Tues-Fri?) who offers handwritten menu of specials. We had the baked meatballs (delicious) and the Cajun shrimp scampi (added more heat). One of our favorite places for smaller group dinners!“

“We had a lovely time on the patio with our dog at this bar. We ordered margaritas (a jalapeño one and a guava one), guacamole appetizer, & a buffalo chicken wrap entree. Everything was delicious. My first jalapeño margarita had over 20 seeds in it and they were kind enough to remake it for me without any big deal about it. The service was fantastic and we truly enjoyed our time! “I always love the laid back atmosphere here. Gives you feelings of nostalgia. This use to be one of Detroits jumping spots back in the day. It is still nice to visit and see the old dance floor, pool table and beautiful bar maid. People are friendly, you can go against some really good pool players, and if you like dancing come through. One minor draw back, they don't take debit or credit cards. Lol“

“Great vibes with a vintage feel. Drinks were fun but not ~as~ good as I was expecting. Still very enjoyable. Food was spectacular, with the lobster bun exceeding my expectations. My partner said the burger was about as good as grey ghost’s (iykyk). Chicken bites were also very yummy. The solid Alaska was a fun ending of the night. Price range was reasonable too! We had 4 drinks total with 3 things to eat and it came to $99 before tip. Overall excited to come back!“

I recommend both of them with oatmilk. The owner was super friendly with my party and I and we had a very nice conversation with her while she made our lattes. Down Under is only FOUR minutes away from the TCF, walking. There is NO reason to ever get Starbucks again while I am in Detroit for Youmacon. A definite must for all the con goers to give them a try!“

It is as if God himself has blessed the cheeses and toppings and ovens with his own hands and holy prayer. The arugula salad with the lemon vinaigrette is an angelic beginner. The roasted carrots are themselves a divinity worthy of devout worship. The Bagley Chorizo is a canonical revelation deserving of kneeling at the altar of.

“Stopped here one night with several friends. There were seven of us. I ordered the Pommes Frittes and Escargot. They were both very tasty. Since it was late only one of us ordered dinner. Our server was outstanding! Liked the atmosphere, plan to go back for dinner.“

“So good! The octopus was the best octopus dish I've ever eaten - it was so tender with a slight crisp and so flavorful. I didn't even get a picture before we dug into it. The pork collar was a great blend of textures and flavors - I got extra bread just to have a delivery vehicle for the peach conserva in this dish. The croquettes were a must too, they packed so much mushroom goodness in them. We got 3 small plates and 4 large plates, which was more than enough for 4 people. Will be coming back again.“

“We made a 6:30 pm reservation online for my wife'sbirthday. Someone called to confirm the reservation within minutes and confirmed we were celebrating a birthday. Which was strange because no one ever said Happy Birthday! That aside we had the best dinner. Our server Shelly was amazing. She gave great recommendations and history on the restaurant. We visited the restaurant under the former owners but the new owner updated everything. Shelly even let us know about the windows in the hall where we were able to see the chefs making food, and the dry aging meat was neat to see. We had crab cakes, wedge salad, French onion soup, Aged Ribeye and Halibut. We couldn't eat another bite, so we ordered the chocolate flour less cake and it was an enormous piece that we enjoyed two nights! Great evening. It was dinner and experience! I forgot to mention the jazz band was a lot of fun too!“

“I have gone to the Whitney every year for Christmas dinner. It was annual holidays to celebrate with my nieces. Last Christmas holiday we chose to take the buffet. I was extremely disappointed. All I wanted was prime rib. The server was not very friendly. She stared at me and I was very uncomfortable when I asked for the prime rib only. There was just a small end piece and she gave me a very thin slice close resembling lunch meat. I don’t understand since I paid for a complete meal and it wasn’t cheap. I could’ve gone somewhere else and had a wonderful prime rib dinner. The au jous was not warm, so that was very disappointing. I will never do the buffet again if it’s like last year. In previous years, I’ve attended the buffet and it was outstanding.“

This was actually my second time, I’ve been before for a friends birthday and we had a different menu…..the pomegranate ribs were mouthwatering delicious.
