“I came here to support a local women owned business for women's history month. It's a small bakery in downtown Rochester Hills located in the alley behind Main Street. Staff were friendly and helpful. I picked out a few treats to share with my women's group. I got a few treats for myself and I definitely want to come back and try some other items. I got a pistachio eclair. It was good but the inside cream was a little runny side. I would have liked to taste more of the cream but it all dripped out each time I bit into it. I can't wait to come back and explore more of their selection of bakery treats.“

“My husband bought me the hazelnut for Christmas and I just brewed the last of it. (Yes, I brewed and consumed an entire pound of coffee in less than a month; it’s just that good!) Excellent customer service and can’t wait to pick up more!“

“Great cafe located right off Main Street in Rochester, MI. I love to stop here when I visit MI! The coffee and desserts are to die for! The ambience is lively and there’s live entertainment on the weekends. My favorite is the tiramisu cheesecake. ?“

“Just had my first visit here and was completely satisfied. I had a Cinnamon tea with honey and it was delicious. I saw many things here I would love to try, and will on future visits. Looking forward to going back and experiencing the other fare they have to offer.“

“We have been to Recipes several times and enjoyed our experience. This time, not so much! After waiting 25 minutes for our drink order, we had to ask for them a second time, waitress forgot. Food was not hot, seemed like it had been sitting under warmer? Yes, it was Valentines Day but the restaurant was not busy! Better service on a crowded Sunday with the after church crowd. Very disappointed.“

“Very beautiful atmosphere, and the interior was to die for. The service was nice, but we had to wait a long time to be seated when there was no wait at all. The drinks were nice though, we had ordered mocktails. I ordered the strawberry spritz, and it tasted very sweet and delicious. We didn’t try the food, but it looked nice from reading it off the menu. I can say that some of the items are a little overpriced.“

“We had the mango cloud cake slice, blueberry cloud cake slice, tiramisu latte, and the honey lavendar latte. All were amazing and 10/10. The cake wasn't too sweet but instead a more subtle taste (my favorite), tasted like the actual fruit in its name, and had the fruit in it. The honey lavendar has a stronger taste of sweetness and lavendar. Get it iced. The tiramisu latte we got hot and it was also not sweet and a more subtle tiramisu taste. The cake slices were $6-$7 a slice. The lattes $5-$5.50. Reasonable prices. The service was great. There is a nice seating area inside and outside. Our favorite cafe/bakery place in Troy. Will come again.“

“Absolutely amazing! Got the Peanut Butter Mocha iced (which had real peanut butter in it) and the Mint Mocha iced. Also, got bacon egg and chedder bagel sandwich and sausage egg and chedder bagel. Got to choose which type of bagel plane, assigago and everything. I'm definitely going back!“

“It's hard to know that this gem is here. It's in the middle of an unpretentious plaza, and I found it by accident, looking for a quiet place to write. “We just had the best service here! And great coffee, tea, and treats! We had went on a walk and decided to treat ourselves to a coffee. After our order was ready and we went pay we found that I lost my license and id along our walk. OYE! They were so kind and patient with us with our frantic responses. They had us take our order anyway and said that they 'trust us'. Luckily, we found my id and card and went back and paid. They were still super nice when I went back in. We will be back and tell everyone else they should go as well!! You just don't have that small town feel anywhere else around here.“

“This place is amazing. Great coffee. Great food. Great bakery items. Most coffee shops have those things though. What truly set this place apart was the incredible service I (and others) received while in store. Angelina helped me out and provided some of the best service I've ever gotten in my life. The other employee who helped the people in front of me was extremely helpful figuring out what drinks would be best for a couple who was in for their first time and weren't sure what to get. “Aesthetic cafe in Lake Orion with great vibes and friendly baristas. Offers a wide selection of iced or hot coffees/teas and specialty/seasonal drinks as well as baked goods and prepackaged snacks. We ordered the chocolate chip sconookie (cross between a scone and a cookie) that was worth breaking any diets for, and the cafe con miel and Americano. Both drinks were excellent. I would've loved to see a couple of savory items on the pastry menu but we were happy with what we ended up. I now know why this is a favorite spot for my teens and their friends when they want a place to hang out or study.Parking: Street parking in front of the building and around downtown Lake Orion and lot behind the building with access to two entrances“

“I wish I’d discovered this place when it opened almost 3 years ago. It has very cozy seating and Wi-Fi. It has every type of coffee you could want, smoothies made with fresh natural ingredients and all types of sandwiches. I’m going to enjoy coming often.“

“Friendly staff and great coffee/food. I go here almost every day and am greeted with smiles without fail. They even went ahead and wrote down my order next to the cashier because I always get the same thing. On rough days, stopping in for just a few minutes at this location gives me a lift. It’s my permanent coffee spot.“

“Came here for brunch with a group of friends and we had a great time. I ordered the blueberry Ricotta pancakes with lemon curd, potatoes, jalapeno polenta, and Earl Grey tea. The pancakes were so delicious, you didn't even need syrup. The potatoes were cooked well, but could have used more seasoning. The polenta was creamy and flavorful. My tea was enjoyable and tasted like high quality Earl Grey.The only negative is the customer service could have been better. The waiters weren't very attentive or personable. We found ourselves having to flag them down or get up and find a staff person if we wanted something. Could have just been an off day though. Totally coming back. This is an awesome place for brunch.“

“This is a really hip place.A nice place where you can read a book and enjoy a really nice beverage. It's a small place so get there early if you want somewhere to sit. They put in big tables recently which seem too big for the place, but provide a little bit more seating. They really need to expand.“

“I haven’t been to this bakery in years, and I noticed that it seems to have adopted a more corporate style compared to its previous, more personal atmosphere. It’s still nice, but I don’t feel the same sense of attachment to this place as I did before. So sad.Also, quite pricey, a smoked salmon sandwich cost $17.“

“Atmosphere is great, variety of foods, authentic flavors. The coffee is amazing, and I prefer over the major store brands. Nice amount of outlets if you are doing work, cozy, bathroom might be my only issue, but other than that, I highly recommend and enjoyed my time and will be back again. It is also great for groups and getting the pots of beverages for the table. If they had a breakfast sandwich type of item, I would say perfect, but their sweets and pastries are delicious, and even the edible flowers on the pastry I had were divine, and the quality would impress your friends.“

“I went to the bakery next door and this place sparked my interest. I went in not knowing a thing and cashier was super kind and knowledgeable, and asked just the right questions to get me what I like. I ended up getting a couple of drinks which had to be the best drinks I’ve ever had. I also got the popcorn chicken. It was juicy, crunchy, and the chicken was melt in your mouth soft. “Umai cafe is the perfect spot for lunch after a winter hike. The cafe is clean & cozy and the staff were very kind. The food was good and the chocolate avocado smoothie was decadent. The miso soup and potato salad taste fresh.The cafe has a projector to play video clips and gentle music to create a pleasant atmosphere. The cafe is tucked into the corner of a strip mall, and is situated next to a fitness studio that unfortunately has no soundproofing so for a portion of our visit the loud noise had a negative impact on the experience.I look forward to visiting again and love that there is a local spot for avocado smoothies and fresh onigiri.“

“Cute small boba shop to fight the boba tea cravings; plus they have a drive thru line. I like the glass containers that they put their drinks in. Neat idea and promoting visitors to reuse. You get 10% off drinks for containers that you bring back. We enjoyed their jasmine tea, hk style milk tea, kuma milk tea, and the 24k golden tea. Drinks were not super sweet which is a major plus. They also have toppings that are for free. Fair pricing.“

“I started going to this location after the Rochester Rd location closed. This location can feel a bit congested, especially on weekends. However, it’s nice to see how many people still enjoy shopping at bookstores! Gabrielle was very helpful and checked in the back when they didn’t have a book I was looking for. She offered to order it for me and made suggestions to other books I might like. Great customer service!“

“This was my first time at Fox and Hounds Pastry Den, but definitely not my last :) Monica was so nice and worked with me to make a giant black and white cookie! When picking the giant cookie up, I was admiring the baked goods beautifully lined up in the case and succumbed to the temptation of the bumpy cake cupcake. Both the cookie and cupcake were delicious. Between the delicious treats and Monica’s creativity and kindness, this place is a gem!“

“I'm a big fan of Ube flavored foods. And this was the first time trying cotton cake because I heard that they had Ube flavored Japanese cheesecake. The cake was moist and fluffy, wasn't too sweet, it was pretty good for a Japanese cheesecake, but the flavor didn't really have that authentic Ube taste to it. I've tried other Japanese cheesecakes and this place is good, but not as comparable to the others I've had. The employees were kind and attentive. And the place itself was very cute. They have a different variety of ice creams, pastries and cakes. The cheesecake with Nutella and pistachio was pretty tasty.“

“My family loves this place so I had to try it. The strawberry bagel bomb was delicious, the sausage egg and cheese bomb was very good. I tried their blueberry scone and while it did taste good I do not understand how it can be called a scone. It was more like a very soft blueberry biscuit. The bubble tea was overly sweet and not at all traditional bubble tea (I wasn’t expecting it to be but it was no where near as good as actual boba). The ambiance was amazing. My sister loves their hot chocolate, I didn’t try it. Their coffee with cream was a three out of five.“

“This is a lovely coffee shop. I come here often with my 3yo who calls it "the bagel spot." I also do some work here. For some reason everyone in this place seems to always be talking about theology, but as an instructor in philosophy that makes me feel more at home rather than less.“

That being said, prices have gone up, and I was shocked to spend $8 on a large frozen drink ($7 on a medium hot drink). I know that inflation is a thing, but I, sadly, can’t justify it.“
