“We were instantly greeted and seated. Our server Robby was awesome. The entire staff was friendly. Chef Johnny is very talented and friendly. I love that he greets all guest and will even bring your food out himself. For starters we had the shrimp and crab cakes. They were crispy on the outside and melted in your mouth. The surprise with these was that there was whole shrimp inside. We loved it. The sauce on top was just the right amount. The salmon with saffron rice, coconut curry sauce and green apple slaw was the best salmon I've had in a while. The pairing was new for me but it worked. The salmon was juicy and perfectly cooked. When paired with everything on my plate it was like fireworks. Everything popped and was amazing. My husband had the beef strudel. Now he was thinking it was gonna be like a beef wellington but no. When he put his fork into the perfectly crispy flaky crust and into the most tender beef either of us have ever had, OMG. With the first bite all he could do was say "WOW"(sorry about how loud he was). The flavors of that plate were incredible. The blueberry cheesecake was the icing on the cake. It was perfect. Sweet but not too sweet and the smear of lemon sauce on the side elevated the flavors. The drinks. I had the rainforest and my husband had the Johnny Manhattan. When we saw how small the glasses were we were definitely worried. That feeling quickly faded with the first sip. The drinks may be small but they are strong and delicious. We had to pace ourselves with those. Overall, I give this place a 10/10 and will definitely be back again soon. Thank you to everyone there for a great time and for great service.”

“Our dining experience was fabulous! Great food, beautiful ambiance, friendly service! One small detail I noticed: the servers / wait staff are not crumbing the tables in between courses or before dessert. Small observation, however, did not take away from the experience. I thought I would mention it because crumbing is an added plus to the fine dining experience of first class service. All in all, we had a fabulous time and will return next month for my husband’s birthday.”

“Some of the best tacos we have had in Metro Detroit. Way better than Condado's. I would highly recommend, but would be apprehensive so there was always a spot ready for me. The staff was just as equally amazing too. Thank you. 10/10 all day!!”

Unfortunately the service is usually pretty bad. I don't want to feel like the waitstaff is doing me a favor by waiting on me.

We will continue to eat there for sure, but we would eat there more often if the service was better.”

“I had 5 broken teeth and 2 large abscesses and couldn't eat much of anything but was starving. I was looking for something soft to gum. Thinking tamales or beans and cheese. Of the options the flour tortilla beef birria seemed to be the best fit. I ordered those, a side of beans and, a side of consomme. Was amazing. Just on the edge of what I can tolerate heat wise (I am a wimp). Great taste. I used the consomme to make birria ramen for a later meal. (Just beef ramen, 2 sticks string cheese, and the consomme). It was also great, very satisfying.”

“At a recent family birthday celebration, I needed appetizers at the last minute. I went to the right people for help! It was no problem for Kal and Ann! They cheerfully made fresh batches of delicious hummus (two varieties) which came with chips and pita bread. I served that, along with two kinds of their fabulous soup, to my dinner guests. Everyone complimented the delicious food Kal and Ann prepared. If you haven’t tried KAL’s Lunch Bowl, located in the Royal Oak Farmers Market yet, I recommend it. You won’t be a “just another customer” ~~ You’ll be a FRIEND!”

“DOC Royal Oak for me is the best option in the Royal Oak area for espresso-based drinks. The loungey seating is better than most places but the ambient music that is always running is a great reason to sit and enjoy a coffee. Excellent selection of tunes with a wide variety ranging from old school funk to modern chill. The roasted coffee selection for purchase rates very well. And the baristas are well-trained in pulling top-tier shots to go along with perfectly frothed milk for your cappuccino or macchiato (my go-to’s)”

Plump sea scallops & tender jumbo shrimp simmered in a luscious lemon & caper cream w/ grape tomatoes. Served w/ crispy red skin potatoes, fresh vegetables and grilled garlicky toast rounds.

I ordered this entree with linguini noodles. The shrimp and scallops were great!

The cream was bland and there was no luscious lemon, caper cream. The cream was loose and I did not taste any lemon or capers (almost nonexistent and tasteless) which generally adds a nice flavor to food. Also, I did not get any grilled garlicky toast rounds.

I have ordered this entree several times before and it was DELICIOUS. I even encouraged my friend to order it and she was disappointed as well.

I will return to Lilly's because overall the food is really good. I just hope the next time I order this entree, the flavor truly fits the description and I get my garlicky toast rounds. P.S. Seth our waiter was GREAT!!!!”

“Pad Thai curry sounded nice with beef and spicy.

It wasn’t interesting dish. I’ve never had pad Thai curry and it turned out to be exactly what it sounds like pad Thai in curry sauce. It took some getting used to, but I tried to eat it. I think I like noodles that are less creamy and I have no curry. I’d like to be able to taste individual flavors of the vegetables and protein. Won’t be ordering this one again.

Quiet on a Tuesday night at dinner time. I like that the menus are at the table and the service was quick and responsive.”

This particular location was okay, I still don't think you should have somebody in there working by themselves for x amount of hours. The poor kid just did not want to be there and it was obvious. I had a four sub order and he went through the motions of making them and just kind of, blah. The parking in back was kind of creepy! but the parking in front was under construction so; I'm guessing that's why the place was dead. and if I wasn't in a "need them" kind of situation, I probably would have walked out and found a different location. It was just dark and not inviting at all. Idk.
So with that experience; and lack of yumminess, plus ridiculous prices; I don't see myself returning. Sad, because I used to LoVe subway!”

“We went here on La Feast’s 1st or 2nd day of its re-Grand Opening. There was only one waiter, who expressed he was new, who was working his tail off and was so so friendly. I am only giving 4 stars for service because I think the restaurant should set themselves up better for success when they’re doing a second grand opening. The food was fresh. The chicken wasn’t the best tasting I’ve had, wasn’t the worst. Falafel was good. Veggies were meh, I wish there was squash, pepper, onion, etc., and grilled. Seemed to be steamed. I am willing to give this place a second try and hoping to give it 5 stars!”

“I had a terrible experience with ordering on the app and being delivered by DoorDash. Long story short, the staff at the royal oak location went above and beyond to get me my food! They offered to refund me and remake my food, but the manager Kurtis was exceptional and offered to personally deliver my food to me while working at the hospital! He did not have to do that, he wouldn’t even accept a tip! They remade my food and smoothie to ensure it was fresh! It wasn’t their fault at all that DoorDash dropped the ball. The consumer service here was Amazing! Elliot was patient and kind and very helpful as well!”

Why not stop in at Royal Oak Roast? It’s a comfy place with great people watching. The coffee is wonderful and refills are a dollar. So many different coffee choices in all styles, including espresso over over Weiss vanilla ice cream!!! The kitchen, yes I said kitchen has scrumptious food that is presented beautifully with the seasonal selections. All this sound good? Well that’s not even the best part. It’s the staff. “Even at night, the patio is beautiful. The heaters were on and the drinks were delicious, I had the Bellagio almond sour and it's my new favorite drink, the whole table ordered a round after trying it.

I had the BLT and that is the most high end flavors I have the pleasure of enjoying. The bacon is thick cut and the fries had some kind of Parmesan cheese that was a huge hit.

For years the spiral cut French fries have been my favorite fries at any fast casual chain. Yesterday I was at Royal Oak and the fries have changed for the worse. There is a new batter style and they were too salty. Please bring back the old fries!!!”
