“I love this place. Fantastic martinis, fresh cigars. The lady bartender, I forgot her name although I should know it by now, is the best! As soon as I walk in the door she knows exactly what I want. I come here mostly because of her. Belicsos is the best!“

“I visited this past Valentine’s Day weekend and visited again this past Saturday night. I didn’t have a reservation but still got seated very quickly. It was a hot, muggy night and the hostess said she had a seat on the patio which I was fine with. I had a magnificent server, Florence, who was kind, thoughtful to recommend a drink to the person I was with and even when our drinks were brought out within a short time, apologized for the delay (which wasn’t necessary). I wish I could give a review on the party next to us because they were extremely rude, not only not giving consideration to others being on the patio but were also incredibly rude to Florence. One woman in particular was grandstanding in front of this group and demanded to speak to a manager. Florence and the Manager were both composed and dignified in spite of a rude patron that was looking to get her bill comped (for a party of nearly a dozen people) going so far as to threatening to have everyone at her table write a terrible review. I have worked in the service industry and so have so many people I know and love so this situation had me worked up and I felt it necessary to write a review that our experience was magnificent. Don’t be an a-hole to servers of any kind just because you’re an a-hole yourself. If you give respect, you get respect. Go to The Sugar House. Be a good customer.“

“It was quiet when we went on Friday evening, but everyone was nice. They were sadly out of the one food we really wanted to try, but The Goat cocktail made up for it. I'm always happy to try something a little more unique that ends up tasting just as good and better than widely-loved classics. I'd definitely go back to have it again.“

“We walked in to the Buhl Bar and where greeted by George and Aish they where both so friendly and so full of information. “Attened a private wedding reception on Thursday night. It was absolutely an ideal place with ambiance, classy servers and the food was awesome. It was served with wine paring. “Wonderful Coffee! The hand made syrups were probably the best I ever had. I tried two lattes, one with vanilla lavender and the other with honey cinnamon and they were great! I recommend both of them with oatmilk. The owner was super friendly with my party and I and we had a very nice conversation with her while she made our lattes. Down Under is only FOUR minutes away from the TCF, walking. There is NO reason to ever get Starbucks again while I am in Detroit for Youmacon. A definite must for all the con goers to give them a try!“

“The food and service from waitstaff is good. However, the restaurant’s policy on carry out orders is absurd and not customer friendly. After calling to place a carry out order I was advised they don’t accept them. I then asked if they would accept an order if I paid in advance over the phone. Again, I was told that I need to come in and place an order at the bar. This is inconvenient. I had to wait about 20 minutes. Management should reconsider this policy.“

“Ate in the lounge and had fantastic service. Lovely wood smoke smell in the place. Tried 4 different red wine between my wife and I, all terrific. The small plates we tried were all excellent. My favorite was the whipped salted cod and my wife loved the maitake mushrooms. The mains were also great, the halibut was our favorite. The sherry for dessert was great.

Overall, a surprisingly good meal with fun and knowledgeable wait staff. Best meal I e had had in a good while.“

- Absinthe experience: Waitstaff is very knowledgeable and it’s fun to watch. It’s STRONG and herby.
- Decor: Almost everything was custom build or original historical pieces.

Overall, this place is super comfortable and is the definition of a clean, classy pub/bar. It’s full of creativity and personality.

If you want history, the waitstaff can walk you through the renovations and history of the building going back to when it became the iconic Jacoby’s in 1904 and further to when it used to be a blacksmith shop and being originally built in the 1800’s.

“This place is a total dive, but in the best way possible! The Redneck Riviera is a hole-in-the-wall joint with a heart of gold. The beer is cheap, the music is loud, and the crowd is a mix of locals and out-of-towners looking for a good time. “My friends and I hit this bar up on the biggest bar night of the year! Thanksgiving Eve! We arrived around 10:00pm (no cover) and it was already so packed. They played great music, the DJ was seriously on point. Jack and Coke was only $6.00 and the pours = very very very strong. I was impressed with the environment. The bartenders were nice, the people around me were nice, it was just a really cool vibe! The only thing I'll say is...the bathrooms! Way too small for the amount of people allowed in that bar. “If you’re looking for a culinary experience in Detroit, Midnight Temple is the place to be! From the moment you walk in, the vibrant ambiance sets the tone for a magical evening. Loved the traditional Indian elements, creating an atmosphere that’s both warm and lively.

The food? Absolutely divine! The tikka masala, dhal makhani and biryani are a must try. Don’t skip the garlic naan, it’s the perfect complement to every bite.

“Wow!! Now this is what a Lounge should be. I walked in with a group of friends and was stunned. I was informed by the owner Donnie that on that night; Hour Magazine was attending the establishment, because the establishment was Rated Top Lounge in the State of Michigan. I was astonished by the craftsmanship of the cocktails that we ordered. The selection of Bourbon, Scotch, Tequila, and Cigars was amazing. I will definitely be coming back with multiple people to share this amazing establishment!“

“My friend took me to evening bar for the first time last night and it was a beautiful bar. Modern art deco decor and wonderful cocktails. Shiva was amazing. I had to decide between two cocktails and she described them both in detail that helped me make my decision. I decided on one and it was perfectly up my alley and just as she described. She was so friendly, quick, and attentive even with quite a few guests she was helping. 10/10 will definitely be back. Cocktails were perfectly balanced and had distinct flavors and profiles“
