50 Best Cocktail Bars near Golden Valley

“We recently tried out Lat 14 in Golden Valley and had a wonderful time!

Upon entrance the atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant with attentive service and staff.

We started with the Basil Wings, they had a delicious crispy exterior and were soft and tender inside paired with fried jalapenos and a hint of lime, definitely a highlight of the night! We also tried the Snow Crab Wontons, which did not disappoint, they were tasty and served with the Apricot Sweet Chili sauce that added a fruity sweetness that tied it all together.

To follow, we went with the Khao Soi Chiang Mai, served in a generous bowl, it was a dish that was enjoyable and had a little kick to it! The Chicken Adobo Fried rice was flavorful, served with a sunny side up egg and soy vinegar braised bone-in chicken, all very tender.

Throughout our stay we tried a few different cocktails, the Jasmine 45, by simply looking around we noticed how popular it was and I would totally recommend it, it was bubbly, sweet, and refreshing! The Mango Mojito was very good, it reminded us of a mango soda rather than a mojito. The Lat 14 Old Fashioned was perfect for slowly sipping throughout the night. Lastly, the Espresso Martini, made with a mix, we usually prefer them on the stronger side, this one was very light and smooth.

To end the night off we tried the Luq’s Scoop for dessert, it was a delicious toasted coconut ice cream served with caramelized pineapple, toasted coconut flakes, and toasted almonds. It was creamy and sweet, the perfect way to wrap up our stay!

Overall, we had a great time trying out Lat 14, we enjoyed their take on classic dishes and drinks and would totally recommend it to anyone looking to branch out and try some diverse Asian cuisine.“

“Stopped in for a late lunch on the patio. Was interested in a bitters & soda and the server recommended mixing the rhubarb and cardamom, which was delicious and refreshing. Followed that with the Chix Correa sandwich and a side salad. Wow! Really creative flavors and well-executed. Could tell everything was made from scratch and with high quality ingredients and care. “This place is 10/10 and the people are 20/10! I was there last night to celebrate my husband’s birthday and they went above and beyond with helping me pull off the surprise. When some of the balloons I had floated off, they got a ladder to get them for me. I brought a cake with me, and they provided plates and cutlery for us which I did not expect!! Everyone was absolutely incredible and I’m so grateful for all they did. THANK YOU.The drinks are amazing and the atmosphere is beautiful. Was disappointed when we saw the menu and found I had got it wrong and it wasn’t Mexican - that was until we ordered and got to try our food - absolutely phenomenal ??
Amazing American-Asian fusion snacks and plates, and the cocktails were BOMB.

Couldn’t speak more highly of the people working here, who were super nice, really attentive, and made us feel incredibly welcome.

Music choices were also fantastic, contemporary alternative pop/rock/punk with some alt-classics thrown in.

This would be a cool place to go just for the vibes, music and cocktails, but the food and the staff here make this one of my new favourite places here in the Twin Cities.

The redfish is sooo delicious and I'm not usually a "greens"fan but those southern greens alongside the fish were a match made in heaven
The charbroiled oysters were good-just make sure u squeeze the lemon as it makes them taste better
The crispy boudin balls were a hit, that sauce was yum
The cast iron jalapeño cornbread was out of this world!!!
The apple bread pudding was soo good!! I need that recipe
Now the cocktails were all delicious- the Bee Sting, Hurricane, Chicken Hawk were perfection
Service was fabulous- and this place is amazing for their price point, I'll definitely be back!!

“-Vinai MN- My friend and I wanted to try Chef Yia's restaurant due to being homesick and wanting hmong food. We were met with such great service and sat where we could see the work area. Chef Yia was so kind and started us off with a complimentary appetizer, rice Curry balls. We ordered and the food came so fast. As soon as I took a bite, my eyes started to get teary because it tasted like food from home. I started fanning myself to not cry which Chef Yia saw and asked if the food was too spicy. We then started to explain that we were not from MN and were feeling a bit homesick and how the food reminded us of home. Chef Yia then said, here let's do this. He returned with a pot of beef soup that consisted of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, beef and green onion and white rice and shared that this dish was one of those dishes that we would eat at gathering and events. We we so shocked and so at loss with his kindness and compassion. We both took a bite and immediately lighted up. It tasted like my mom's cooking 💓. As we were nearing the end of our meal, Chef Yia told us not to stuff ourselves too full and surprised us with a complimentary dessert which further awed us. We were so lost at words for Chef Yia's kindness, generosity and comfort. We chose the Lava Cake and it was soooo good! I normally don't like sweets but we devoured this 😋. 1000/10 would recommend.“

“I, quite literally, had the best meal of my life here! We shared the samosas, grilled scallops, grilled salmon, butter chicken, and a ginger chaitini. The flavor in these dishes was something I have never experienced at any other restaurant. They genuinely have a menu that caters to everyone’s likes and tastes. “My wife and I visited here on a random Tuesday during dinner service. Our waiter was amazing which i believe he is the bartender as well. He gave out great recommendations for drinks my wife had the Hibiscus Sour and I had the Hurricane both with rum. I would definitely recommend these drinks as they were perfectly blended, not too strong but also not too light.

The atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant gave a nice & relaxing mood, the music was being lightly played.

For Appetizers we decided on BBQ Shrimp and the Oysters. Both were great dishes, my wife and I enjoyed the BBQ Shrimp a tad bit more as it was cooked to perfection and it came on a bed of grits, surprisingly the ingredients blended really well despite the name.

For Dinner my wife had the Gumbo and I ordered the Jazz Fest Crawfish Monica (the pictured). I would recommend the Jazz Fest, it was light, the pasta was nice and buttery & creamy, the crawfish was cooked perfectly i would give it a 10/10. Ive had many different gumbo, it’s was definitely delicious.

“The pizza is pretty good and I would go back again. My wife and I had a pepperoni and jalapeno pie. The crust was pretty good, I would like a slight bit more chew to it, but flavorful none the less. We really liked the sauce as it wasn't too much and very flavorful. Oddly enough the pepperoni didn't have a lot of flavor, but it had a good bite through and was a good size.

They have a good local beer selection and the atmosphere was nice with a section for pickup and dine in. You can also see them making the pies.

The service was fast, attentive, and she boxed the leftover pie up for us.

Parking is a bit of a challenge, so be prepared to drive around to find a spot on adjacent streets.“
