I needed a dessert for a Mexican themed birthday party for 16 people and she recommended the Tres Leche cake. I picked it up the next day before the party and it was the hit of the party!!! As one of the best bakeries in the whole world, and one that my family has loved for years, it was a no brainer to order from them when it came to provide food for my grandma's funeral.

I remember walking in to pick up our (very large) order and realizing that I had the wrong pick up time. The pastries were far from ready. Given the grief of the day, I am confident I wasn't a pleasant customer, and I'm confident I didn't take responsibility for my mistake. And yet, rather than send me on my way, the owner and her employees took basically every pastry they had on the shelving and gave it to me, likely at the expense of their current business and their current customers. They then helped me bring my order to my car, and when I offered to help them carry some boxes, the owner told me she didn't want me to get my suit dirty. She said she was sorry for my loss and then went back inside.

The pastries were a hit, but they wouldn't have been possible without Black Walnut's kindness. This review is a thank you and an apology. Thank you for your kindness. I am sorry I was so out of it.

Given the extremely high quality of their food and taste at a more than reasonable price, Black Walnut is an extremely easy bakery to fall in love with. Coupled with their kindness and warmth, there really is no place on Earth that compares.“

“This place has been on my list and I am happy that I have finally came. Overall, it was a good experience for me. There were so many good pastries, such as croissants, cream donuts, cakes, and breads. I was surprised that they even have egg tarts! It was very crispy and flaky. I also got the twisted donuts, kimchi croquette, and sweet frank roll. They are all good. I really liked the kimchi croquette. I would definitely come back to try out the other pastries.“

And the atmosphere was just fun. And I do like that. There were all types of people welcome here. That made everyone feel included. WE had 5 dozen cookies and 4 dozen bars, and at this point, even with only about 80 people, there's maybe a handful of each left and they will be gone before the end of the day. “I love this place! The bakery is fantastic, but I have to practice self control and not go in there every time I come to the grocery store. The grocery store side of the place is a colorful, beautiful, place that just makes me happy when I walk inside. They sell an array of items from cooking vessels, utensils, dishes, to a whole isle of inexpensive spices, fresh produce, meats, and many things specific to Central and South American cooking and cuisine. They have a breakfast/lunch counter with a seating area where you can order an array of authentic cuisine including tacos, beans and rice, burritos and more.“
