They did an 8-inch double layered cake that was Sesame Street themed and a precious smash cake with an Elmo spoon in it! The cakes were the highlight of the party. “Amazing cheesecake! I was never the biggest fan of cheesecake but this place made me a fan. I just shared some of my key lime with family at Easter and they all loved it. I shared some minis with coworkers and they all said how much they loved it as well.The cheesecake is so light and creamy. And the crust is a very important part as well that is done perfectly. I spoke with the owner when is stopped in and she was so enjoyable to chat with. The staff was so friendly as well, even holding the door when I left as they thanked me. I will definitely go back.“

“Well, I'm hooked on this place now. Having never visited a Cafe Ceres in my 8 years living in the Twin Cities, I now know what I was missing. The ambience is calm inside. Penn can be a bit busy but sitting on the porch outside is also a good spot on a nice day. After a coffee and snack there are other businesses in the area for errands like the hardware next door. Food The pistachio croissant is perfect. It has a creme on the inside and pistachios crushed on top. I have to assume all the croissants are this good. We also had the breakfast sandwich which comes on an English muffin and they allow you to substitute meat with avocado without an extra charge which is appreciate for those avoiding meat either altogether or for that morning. Coffee So far I've only had the espresso and I would rank it in the middle of available options in the Twin Cities. It's plenty caffeinated enough yet it seems like each time I get a cortado it tastes different. If you strive for consistency, then perhaps the coffee would be more up your alley. If you like the barista's touch each time, then the espresso is good and will get you where you're trying to go.“

The location is easy to get to, even for someone who doesn't live in Minneapolis. The parking is easy, and the neighborhood feels safe. We loved the almost dark academia ambience that is inside - warm lighting, dark interior. It creates a cozy feel and makes you feel sophisticated, even if you're just trying to satisfy the Saturday morning sweet tooth like we were. Ordering was easy, and the lady gathering our items was very friendly and explained things well. We ordered a vanilla St. Honoré, pain au chocolat, croissants, and an Elise (yes, I'm saying it in a French accent to feel more fancy). The viennoiserie are baked Euro-style, meaning a bit darker than what you'd find in a regular American bakery. The many flaky layers could be seen, and there's a delightful crunch when you take a bite. The sweetness of the Elise was "just enough." We enjoyed everything except for the iced mochas. Those weren't quite as chocolatey or sweet as we're used to. If we could improve anything, it would be to give an option to have something warmed, like the pain au chocolat. It's a little spendy, but you're getting real croissants- not Costco croissants. Will definitely be coming back.“

You can get the best ham and cheese croissant in the city at Bellecor in the north loop for $6 and the best breakfast sandwich in the state for $15 there as well. We spent over $50 for a breakfast sandwich, slice of banana bread, a prosciutto croissant, an Americano and a chai tea latte… that’s a lot.
