“Northeast MPLS- what a fantastic find, this is truly a small town bakery, small batch production. Their reputation is their best PR! We tripped upon it, while on a quest this weekend to support SMALL/LOCAL businesses in MPLS.

Definitely recommend the apple fritter, no canned apples there! The lemon bars, peanut butter donuts and glazed donuts all thumbs up. New to me was the Paczkis. They stole the show in my book.

As if the pastries weren’t enough to bring us back (and they definitely are) the price was amazing! 6 “donuts” less than $17… Light, fluffy, DELICIOUS, good thing we live 5 hrs away, I’d be there everyday!

“This is a great place. The owners are cool and fun to talk to. The baked goods are very high quality and affordable. A lot of other bakeries have stuff that tastes like bland butter mixed with sugar but this place has very good flavor. Not too sweet, high quality ingredients. They also sell food such as sambusas, ful and tibbs which are fresh and tasty! The coffee is good too“

The staff were so friendly and accommodating, it felt more like stepping into someone’s home for a meal than it did a quick trip to a restaurant. “I visited last Estancia yesterday for the first time and I am so glad I did! Their baked goods are fresh and delicious (I bought many to try)! I highly recommend them. And they carry Guatemalan sweet bread which is not easy to find in the Twin Cities. I am on the Board of Directors of the Saint Paul non-profit Common Hope which helps children and families in Guatemala improve their lives through education, healthcare, improved housing and family development. This is my families Perkins of choice passing by two others much closer Perkins just to go to the Maple Grove location. Our server Taylor was attentive, polite and very in tune to our groups needs. “It was our first time visiting Tous Les Jours. They have an incredible variety of sweet and savory treats. When you first come in, you grab a tray and tongs then get each pastry item you want. There are additional cakes and macarons in the refrigerator counters where you pay. There, you can order coffee and have any items warmed up. Our food was pretty good, the coffee was really good.“

The grocery store side of the place is a colorful, beautiful, place that just makes me happy when I walk inside. They sell an array of items from cooking vessels, utensils, dishes, to a whole isle of inexpensive spices, fresh produce, meats, and many things specific to Central and South American cooking and cuisine. They have a breakfast/lunch counter with a seating area where you can order an array of authentic cuisine including tacos, beans and rice, burritos and more.“

“Right as you walk in, you greeted by all the wonderous aromas of both sweet and savory freshly baked items. I had a very hard time deciding what I wanted. I had missed the information that it was a French Asian fusion bakery, but the signs were there. Red bean buns, instructions on how to use tongs and trays correctly, but the best part was the gentlemen at the counter. They were very welcoming and polite, told me to skip the tip screen (it's rude to tip in asian cultures) and then asked for my tongs with both hands. I was almost gitty with the opportunity to use my Japanese to thank him politely. He automatically responded back in Japanese and then took a step back and smiled wide as he noticed what happened. We had a small conversation and I finally sat down to eat my lunch with my daughter. My daughter and I cleaned our table and returned our trays and with a happy smile the gentlemen wish us a good day and to see us soon. If you have never traveled to Japan, this café will only give you a glimpse, but still, it was a wonderfully surprising bonus to my day. I highly recommend a visit and to visit often!“

I needed a dessert for a Mexican themed birthday party for 16 people and she recommended the Tres Leche cake. I picked it up the next day before the party and it was the hit of the party!!! “Had the cheese jalapeno and the pork tamalas. Good flavors and sized well for $3.25. Tried chocolate donut, oreja (palmier), empanadas de piña (pinnapple turnover) and a concha (sweet bread). All pretty good, donuts are huge, could only eat half. Shared the turnover and oreja, was nice and flakey, next time will not share. Picked up some cumin, dried whole cinnamon, and dried chile. Prices are really good and people running store are friendly and helpful.“
