“Made a reservation here a week ahead for a special occasion and was super excited to try it out. Our reservation was for 8pm and we arrived fifteen minutes early and didn’t get sat until around 8:30-8:45 but Being that I also work in the food industry and it’s Covid times, I didn’t see it as a big deal. I do wish I had snacked before hand though! They did send edamame to our table for the inconvenience once we were finally sat though which was a super nice and unnecessary gesture. Also, the ambience is lovely and super romantic. The best sushi I have ever had. So light and flavorful. We even got some dessert and I have to say the mochi doughnuts were to die for - I wish the chocolate sauce for dipping had been dark chocolate but that’s my personal preference. The only negative thing I have to say is it is a little pricey so it won’t be a regular spot for me personally but definitely a place to check out for special events or date nights.“

“Old timey, breakfast-all-day, sandwiches, or a meat & two veg place. I love the French toast, and pancakes with real blueberries in them. My partner likes the omelettes. Good old diner atmosphere. Respectable food. I'm not sure I would call it wheelchair-friendly. The ramp is steep, the doors are heavy if you don't have help, and the handicap parking is abysmal for wheelchairs. The parking in general is not good, it's always crowded. If you have other ambulatory concerns, note that the parking lot is loose gravel.“

The GM Jamie , Dining Director April and their team were very professional and took care of all detail - printed personalized drink menu and allowed decoration setup, worked a prescribed menu with us. “Have had nothing but the best experience with Rise! I place my large order Saturday night and then show up Sunday morning to pick up the food and it’s always ready and always correct. Mom got the shrimp sandwich with collard greens and mac & cheese while I got the Boricua Bowl with fried chicken. The greens were great and while I’m not really a mac & cheese person, this mac & cheese was hitting on all cylinders. Great down to earth business where the owners are in tune with all who walk through the doors to share their space. The fact they’re located at American Tobacco in downtown Durham right by the Durham Bulls baseball stadium makes it a must stop. Defintely coming back the next time I’m in Durham when I see Mom again.“

Forget everything you know about other horchatas - this one is a floral, citrusy tisane dream (best served hot imo). Service is always fast and friendly. Lots of seating.
