“Because my family has wildly different tastes in cakes and desserts, we usually get a selection of cupcakes for birthday celebrations. I found Bull City Bake Shop through Google Maps and was able to place an order through their website in the early morning to be picked up half an hour after they opened.

The cupcakes were ready for us when we got there and my husband noticed some banana puddings in the display case. My family enjoyed every single cupcake flavor and my dad was very impressed with the banana pudding and its made-from-scratch flavors. HIGHLY recommended.

We will be coming back.

ETA: apparently I cannot leave a second review, so I will state here that I had another fabulous experience with Bull City Bake Shop. I needed to order cupcakes for a baby shower with a punk rock theme, and going in had the idea of basic cupcakes with black icing and such. The bakers explained what a bad idea black icing can be, as it leaves stains on the teeth for days, and worked with me to add decorations that blended with the theme (see photo). Everyone at the party raved about how good the cupcakes were. Bull City Bake Shop will continue to have my business at every opportunity.“

“I have had a design for my future wedding cake picked out for YEARS. This weekend, I finally saw my vision come to life. Ro created the most beautiful cake I have ever laid eyes on. It tasted delicious, she was accommodating with communication, and even helped with a request to add an extra layer. I cannot recommend Ro Cake Studio enough. “Little Barb bakery is one of the best small businesses to ever come to Durham! Barb and her team are filled with kind, talented, helpful, and creative. Individuals who are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure your treat is perfect. I have Barb and her team do my birthday cake every year and not only is it delicious and an absolute crowd pleaser, but they go above and beyond to execute my vision for whatever crazy and elaborate theme I have that year. I also love popping by to see what goodies they have in the case especially on Sundays. The Biscoff cinnamon roll has got to be the number one way to my heart! But really you can’t go wrong with trying whatever new fun creation they have made that week. also, if you pop by their storefront, they have a pay forward board, which just adds even more to the level of community they bring to this little neck of the woods. barb and her team also host cake decorating classes. I have been to a few of these and have even worked with her to host a private one and wow what an incredible afternoon!! Definitely not too stressful, but you still walk away having learned a thing or two! It was such a great way to gather with all of my girlfriends and do something hands-on with a delicious take home afterwards! all in all, I really cannot recommend little Barb’s bakery enough, truly a gem, and I couldn’t imagine working with any other bakery, moving forward. Barb and her team not only create delicious and wonderful treats, inclusive too, plenty of gluten-free options. But they also have incredible customer service, attitudes and energy. Never once have I had a run in with anybody working there that was anything less than incredible. Do yourself a favor and swing by Barbs and get yourself a treat ASAP.“
