“Ate there on my birthday. May 22. Food was great. I had the sheepshead and my husband had the oysters. Chloe, our waitress was wonderful. She treated us to a bowl of the famous chowder and chocolate cake. We loved it so much until we stopped on the way to the ferry and bought some frozen. Everything we ate was perfect..“

The fried flounder was perfectly crispy, fresh, and full of flavor, and the steak was cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and one of the best we’ve had in a long time. And the dessert? Completely to die for! The perfect ending to an amazing meal. What truly made the experience unforgettable though was Angela and Rusty themselves. They were some of the kindest, most welcoming people you could ever meet and made us feel right at home the entire time. You can truly tell how much love and care they put into both the food and the atmosphere. If you’re looking for amazing food, wonderful people, and an all-around fantastic dining experience, Rusty’s Surf and Turf is a must-visit. We will definitely be back!“

We’ve been staying on Hatteras Island for about a dozen years and we’ve hit a lot of local restaurants in search of excellent seafood. Dinky’s tops the chart. Genuinely fantastic food AND staff. I have a feeling this will be an annual stop from here on out.“

“Atmosphere and service is always good. We usually stop in for breakfast. They offer a good variety at a good price. Today I ordered eggs over medium, grits, and white toast. The food came out just above warm. My eggs were cooked hard on the outside, but the whites were not cooked all the way through. I couldn't even eat the edges they were so underdone. I broke the yolks and ate my toast with those. The toast was not warm enough to melt the butter I put on it. The grits had no flavor but the consistency was good. I had to add 2 packs of butter (again the food was not hot enough to melt room temperature butter) and salt to season. Eggs were also unseasoned. I realize that's what salt and pepper are at the table for but normally food is seasoned while it's cooked. It's just not the same. I could've sent it back and asked for it to be fixed, but I am not a fan of food returning to the kitchen once it's been brought out.“

“Seriously, these are the best, freshest, most delicious fish tacos on the Outer Banks. No matter where we stay, we ALWAYS get to Buxton Munch for fish tacos on every trip. They are well priced, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the restaurant is clean with a fun atmosphere. Buxton Munch has been our favorite lunch stop for many years and is consistently our most recommended eatery on the OBX.“

“Hey Y’all. Want to give a shout out about Pop’s. We went to lunch yesterday (July 22, 2026) and the food was amazing (sorry no pics) the crab cake sandwich was out of this world and my boyfriend had the trigger fish sandwich and was also out of this world.

The Waitress Julia was outstanding, being the only one working both inside and outside, she handled herself with the utmost respect and dignity helping everyone. Also the bartender did help her with taking orders and asking folks how everything was.

“Avon’s Froggy Dog is always a must when we’re in the OBX. The food is amazing, the service is fast and cheerful, and Liza makes the BEST Bloody Mary on the island. Go for the Sunday Brunch - you’ll be glad you did!“
