“One of the guys showing folk to their tables was very rude, yeah, you know who you are! Everyone else was great and food was good. If you show up before your party don't ask to get a table and for sure when the rude table guy says you have to wait don't ask him to explain. I've eaten there many times but I think I'll go somewhere else from now on. Maybe the guy just had a bad day, who knows. I know losing my limited business won't hurt them but I'd rather be somewhere appreciated.“

“Every single interaction we had at Limones was sincere, intentional, and well executed. We were greeted and given a place to wait in the lobby with an herbal seltzer. Our server Jamie was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and gave eloquent, robust descriptions of the food as well as his recommendations we requested. We shared the lardo pizza - you should too. This is cellophane thin pork fat rendered just so to melt into incredible cheese and oven fired crust. I would go back for more this second. Every part of our meal exuded that impeccable attention to detail. A ravioli type pasta with ham cornbread and peas was the perfect Appalachian/Italian pairing. The tiramisu was thick, custardy, eggy in the lightest but creamiest way. The pistachio gelato with pistachio syrup was incredible. My only wish would’ve been to try one more dessert but we did make a 9:30 reservation so you roll the dice. That panna cotta sounded wonderful. I could not imagine anyone being less than thoroughly impressed with Limones. My husband was a chef for 20+ years and felt every aspect of a great meal was part of our meal there. 10/10 Limones.“

I’ve tried both the chicken and steak tacos, as well as the steak and pork burritos — and every single bite has been nothing short of amazing. The flavors are rich and authentic, the meat is always perfectly cooked, and everything tastes incredibly fresh. You can tell they put real heart into their food. “The food and service were fantastic! However, the reason I will return every time I visit Asheville is not actually food related. The owners fed their employees and their families the entire time they were shut down for Covid. The owner’s husband is involved in many global humanitarian projects. While I was reading the Cantina’s historical wall display, the researcher responsible for the wall came and spent about 20 minutes chatting with me about the area’s history. I was moved by life work of the people associated with the restaurant and will return in support of goodness in the world.“

“An offshoot of Mamacita’s, Taco Temple retains the same focus on homemade Mexican eats. The offerings are a bit fancier than you might find at a typical taco joint but not to the point of pretentiousness (they also have breakfast tacos for those who are up early enough). While it occupies a smallish space, Taco Temple does offer a cool vibe, including a vintage Corona machine.

My wife and I opted for a trio of tacos plus guac to go. Our order was ready on-time, and one look at the homemade blue corn tortillas made us anxious to dig in. The tacos were generally tasty and delivered distinct flavors: the loreto (tangerine-pasilla shrimp) was spicy and tangy while the Santa Barbara (ancho-brown sugar rubbed steak) was smoky and slightly sweet. The panela (panela cheese, poblano, black bean, pickled onion) included too much pickled onion and too little cheese, however. The chips, guac, and tomatillo salsa were solid complements to the meal.

Taco Temple may or may not make you a convert, but it’s worth at least one pilgrimage.“

“This is the most authentic Mexican restaurant that i’ve been to. If you’re the average American looking to get Mexican food with “chips and dip” prior to ordering, look elsewhere. No chips or salsa was provided. They do not have sweet tea, it is only bottled or can drinks. The tacos were good. The atmosphere was mediocre. I would consider this to be a manly place rather than a family restaurant. While I wasn’t displeased with the food, I most likely will not return, at least not with my family.

“The house Avocado salad was AMAZING! This very satisfying dish contained a large amount of fresh salad greens, carrots, red onion slices, tomatoes, an entire sliced avocado, and croutons. I received 2 different types of dressing - both delicious, a large serving of tortilla chips and salsa. It was really enough food for two! Service was also wonderful, and while I chose to eat outside in the sunshine, the atmosphere inside was very festive! I will definitely return to try some other offerings. !Muchas gracias!“

But what makes this place great is the food. It is more California Mex, which this former Californian misses.

Basic as it is, I almost always get the chicken burrito. Interesting blend of flavors, and just the right amount of sour cream to carry the entire meal.“

“We ordered take-out. Carnitas and Molcajete from their House Specialties. The staff was friendly and nice, they refilled one salsa bin because I asked for that one specifically! The food was wonderful. Lots of meat in the dishes. We ate only half for our dinner and will enjoy it again tomorrow! I'm not sure what happened with those that had bad experiences.
