Sushi Bars near Alpine

“The legendary Kiku Alpine STILL lives up to its name. Today's visit was a gentle reminder why I prefer the original Alpine over the secondary Paramus. To some, they might be the "same thing," but no, they're not. The atmosphere, the food, and the service are all way better in Alpine, as if the staff are being properly watched over by the responsible manager. Since the early 90s (my first visit), the food's been great, portions are generous, and the shows are always impressive.

Kiku had been one of my favorite, and it's now one of my children's favorite places to eat out.

Paramus left me with bitter taste several times over the years, including messing up the reservation TWICE and making me wait for over 45 minutes, saying that my table is being setup, until they admitted that they had messed up my reservation. Both times, I ended up going to Alpine and was served right. Weird, because I'm by biased, but things just worked out the way it did.“

It is a bit tough finding vegetarian dishes here and I wish the restaurant kept at least one or two large vegetarian dishes that arent pork/beef broth based. However, this may already be known to people before they come in, so shouldn't detract from the review. Ambiance and service were great!“

“I took my family here and it was good. The price is super affordable and the food is not bad. There are a couple new employees that do not speak English very well but some do. The atmosphere is just amazing from traditional Japanese sitting to normal tables. I will defiantly recommend this place.

“Went to Choo Choo Train with five friends. Ordered Miso Salmon entree and it was delicious. Salmon was grilled perfectly, broccoli and carrots were cooked well and still crunchy, and mashed sweet potatoes were yummy. Cannot say enough about food and attentive service. Will return...no doubt!“

“Cute little place. Always filled with locals and regulars. Evident sign that the place is good. Bumping with efficient take out orders going out all the time. Quick and efficient service. Friendly and helpful staff. And the star of the whole review is that the sushi is impeccable. Fresh, flavorful, tasty, and light. Love love love!

Kid-friendliness: Every time I have been there there have been babies and young kids.“

“Haven't been here in over a yr. The food was very good. The owner was extremely nice. We order several sushi rolls for 4, and she gave us a couple of appetizers on the house. The food was fresh and the service was good. Will most definitely be going back.“

“The sushi is very good, top in NJ. Broad variety of fish, good flavors with some really tasty flavor profiles. Their spicy scallop roll is my favorite in this area. Clearly the owner is passionate about what he's doing here. I have eaten sushi all over north jersey and will only go back to a handful of restaurants because I am very particular about food in general but with sushi in particular - this palce is one that I have gone back to once and will certainly come back again. “This is one of the truly delicious places in New Jersey. I wonder why it isn't more famous. The salmon sushi, in particular, is incredibly rich and fresh. It's not the same taste as what I've had elsewhere. The inari sushi is also very delicious, and it's worth every penny. “Probably one of the most underrated “hole in the wall” spots I’ve been to. Korean couple that owns it is extremely nice and cares about the quality and effort they put into their food. Ordered 4 special rolls and portions were much bigger than you’d expect. Salmon, eel, and tuna were very fresh“

While they do not sell alcohol, they are BYOB and provided an ice bucket for our liquor. Standout dishes include the yellowtail ponzu, otoro sashimi pizza, and spicy seared salmon. Our waiter was attentive, and the chefs even sent out a few extra treats. The interior is elegant and well-kept, though you might feel a bit underdressed. The chicken teriyaki box is a great deal served fresh with fantastic flavor and came with so many delicious sides. I also tried a couple of sushi rolls and seems like you can't go wrong with any options. I haven't had fresh cuts of fish like that anywhere else! Definitely recommend!“

“Definitely the best sushi in Bergen County. They just remodeled and the place looks great! Booths are comfy and perfect lighting. The staff is super friendly too. Now on to the food: perfectly delicious and presentation was on point!

“For the first time, I had a sushi from a Chinese restaurant and it was great. Because of my time off visiting, I was only able to do take out and this allowed me to test the place before any commitments. I was blown away with the quality of my food and quantity at the given price point. I will make sure to visit again soon for their dine-in experience!“

“I would say that this is THE BEST Japanese restaurant in Bergen county. Each sushi roll had been craftly made with very tasty and fresh ingredients. The most amazing surprise was Fire Roll which sushi rolls were presented with fire. The rolls were perfectly smoked and super delicious!!

The restaurant is cozy, clean and family & friend oriented. Nothing to compare!! All servers and sushi chefs are very friendly and great service mind.

“Seems like a great place for fresh sashimi and seafood lovers.

I have a shellfish issue myself but that didn’t stop us from trying their omakase selection for two.

For anyone else who may not be able to have shellfish, note that their cheese corn, spicy casserole, Japanese seafood pancake, the hand rolls, all have shrimp. They were able to remove shrimp only from the casserole but not the hand rolls. And of course there are many dishes with oysters/mussels.

They have their own lot with a decent amount of parking. Also looks like they have a few offerings for people who aren’t into seafood.“
