“This is my second time to Dear Maud when visiting Hoboken. Both times I would say the dining room is very loud. The walls are made of brick, I believe and so nothing insulates the sound. The service in the bar was quick, but slightly impersonal. No one was unfriendly which is good, but it was about turnover. The happy hour menu is generous. I would definitely order the $7 pizza every time. The Manhattan I ordered off- menu was delicious. The lychee martini was on the sweeter side, but it was good. The short rib fried rice was delicious but I was not a fan of the sweet teriyaki sauce drizzled on top. Beware of the red peppers on top because those are spicy. The steak tips were really good and tender. I would go here next time only if I don’t want to walk very far from where I’m staying and if I want some decent drinks. It’s pretty hard to hold a conversation in this restaurant unless you’re speaking louder than you normally would. Great location though.“

“Highly recommend! We had our wedding at Galloping Hill Golf Course in the summer of 2025. The day was everything we could have hoped for and everything went so smooth! We worked with Emily throughout the process and she was great to communicate with. Any questions were answered right away. We wanted a venue that had both inside and outdoor options and loved that it had a covered patio for use all night. Ellis was our day of coordinator and both of our bridal attendants made the day run so smooth. Our guests loved cocktail hour and dinner. There was a great amount of food we went with the seafood station, pasta, Brazilian, and Chinese. We also did the breakfast sandwiches to go for the end of the night! The golf course made great photo backgrounds as well. We had the best time and would do it all over again if we could!“

HOWEVER… D&J Country Cooking is absolutely AMAZING. 💯 I was a little disappointed that they don’t offer dine-in, because I would’ve loved to enjoy my food hot at a table. Instead, I ended up eating it in my car. But let me tell you — it was still worth it. I ordered the fish, yams, and mac & cheese… and it was incredible. Everything was seasoned perfectly and tasted like real home cooking. When I walked in, I was welcomed by a very kind elderly woman who greeted me with eye contact, a warm attitude, and great recommendations. She was sweet, helpful, and really made me feel comfortable about trying the food. It was a true example of Southern hospitality. I’m giving this spot 9 stars. It would’ve been a full 10 if they had dine-in seating, because the food is so good it deserves to be enjoyed fresh at a table. Hopefully they consider adding a sit-down option in the future because it would really take the experience to another level. I’ll definitely be back. It was so delicious and so tasty and my main course was the homemade linguine with lump crab and corn. We adore Garlic Old Bay Shrimp appetizers, fried calamari, crab cakes, BUTTERY lobster rolls, OMG!. For our entrées, we couldn't resist going all in! Seafood Linguine in Garlic Sauce, steamed clams, mussels, grilled salmon, and lobster tails with crabmeat stuffing (seasonal). If you don't see something on the menu that piques your interest, just ask your server if they can prepare it for you. What impresses me most is Greg's attention to detail, passion, and creativity in delivering exceptional, high-quality food, ensuring each guest feels welcome and appreciated.
