“After eating so much (pizza etc )we needed to eat something different, spicy and booked this gem,as it as near to our hotel. It was also our 40th wedding anniversary. We are from U.K. This was amazing perfectly cooked tasty home made authentic Indian cuisine. We had mocktails ( lavender was refreshing ). The tandoori lamb chops x4 were full meat seasoned beautifully and delicious. All other sides perfect too. Now in U.K. we hate restaurant Indian puddings they are usually bought in and awful/failure. After finding out the chef is the owner and a recipient Michelin star we were convinced to stay,try and this was the first time we have had authentic home made puddings; try Kulfi with rose water & also Indian rice pudding. The whole meal was exceptional great value and we will recommend this restaurant to anyone else visiting New York. Easy to find off Times Square /Broadway. Thanks for the rendition “ congratulations “ for our 40th. You are great ! A little gem of authenticity in big New York !“

“Absolutely amazing meal! Was recommended to us by a friend, and we recommend it to you. A quick walk from our Broadway show, the meal was a perfect night cap. The mango margaritas were the perfect combo of sweet and spice; the cauliflower appetizer was bold and perfectly crunchy; the aloo gobi was wonderfully catered to our spice level and still full of flavor; the flaan was to die for. Resturant manager Rakesh Arban did an awesome job taking care of us. The atmosphere included colorful decor, mellow ambiance, and easy to talk to one another despite a somewhat full resturant.

There are stairs down to the entrance door. There are two single stall restrooms. The price was very reasonable given it's location and portion sizes.“

“Amazing food. Loved the service given by the people around there. I really didn't expect to get such a good service at such an hour I;e 11:30am in the morning, that too on a weekday( Tuesday). The ambiance was neat and good. Highly recommend the lollipop dry and the goat dum Biryani that was suggested by the person over there. Perfect in flavours. Highly recommended for people who just loves food and flavours.“

“I brought my girlfriend to experience Indian food for the first time and this was the best spot ever! I have eaten in countless Indian restaurants and this one was by far the best in every category! Ramya, our server was so wonderful. She made recommendations and gave explanations of each item and directions on how to eat them using all the chutneys and dosas. All the dishes were delicious and fresh. The restaurant was warm and inviting! I will be back again and again with friends and family.“

“Small, hole-in-the-wall Indian spot tucked away in Cliffside Park that you could easily pass a hundred times without noticing. I decided to give it a try because of the solid Google ratings, and I wasn’t disappointed.The order was prepared quickly and overall the food was pretty good.

The tandoori chicken cubes were very tender, though they could’ve used a little something extra to really take them over the top. Still enjoyable. The lentil soup was very good and stood out.

The menu has a fair amount of options, prices are baseline for the area, and the place was clean. Definitely worth checking out if you’re nearby.“

“First time I had Indian food was a few years ago in NC, and I was NOT impressed. We were up visiting my sister in Ridgewood and we went out for fathers day dinner at Tabla. We ordered a bunch of different appetizers and entrees and we shared them all. I was absolutely impressed. I totally enjoyed EVERY item. I especially liked the curry fish with coconut milk. “Always outstanding service and willing to get my Tika masala just the right level of spicy for me. Not a beer fan but their 1947 and Taj Mahal are both super. We eat here about 4x a year and have never had a bad meal. They were even kind enough to divide our shared ice cream in three for us. Also, the portions are deceptive. Usually we end up bringing some home but if you are really hungry you might be able we to finish everything. Dishes come with rice but we always order 1-2 orders if regular or garlic naan. It's a small place but I've made reservations for 8 before. They are very accommodating.“

“We popped in last night without a booking, before our movie viewing. The staff were so accomodating and friendly! The restaurant is candle lit and cozy, with quiet, ambient music. I often struggle with sound levels in busy restaurants, but I found the lighting and the sound level were really really pleasant. We ordered, and our starter was in front of us really quickly.

The food was delicious. Complex and rich flavours. Chicken tikka BBQ was so juicy and fresh. The lamb pasanda was the star of the show, even the gravy was mouth watering. The daal, in comparison, was a little bland, we might try a different vegetarian curry next time. The naan are HUGE, fluffy and authentic. Definitely share one between two. The challenge of the lassi was not drinking it in one go, it was so yummy.“

“I ordered mild. MILD. And yet my taste buds were personally visited by the ghost of every spice in existence. Was it spicy? A little. Did I care? Absolutely not, because the lamb biryani was so good I had to sit quietly for a moment and reflect on my life choices.

The butter chicken was silky, rich, and deeply unfair to every other butter chicken I’ve ever had. The garlic naan showed up like it had something to prove — and it did. I ate way too many pieces and I would do it again without hesitation.

The mango lassi was the cooldown I didn’t deserve but desperately needed.

“In my experience, this is the best Indian restaurant hands-down journal Square. I recently moved to Harrison and I will still come to journal Square to get Indian food from here. I don’t know what it is but their chicken is the best almost every dish is just amazing. I haven’t tried every dish, so can’t really comment on every single one, but I’ve never been disappointed.
