“Zaffron Bloom is an absolute GEM in Hasbrouck Heights. The family owned restaurant offers authentic Persian cuisine cooked fresh to order. The owners are extremely kind and will always do their best to make sure the food is good and you enjoy yourself. I’ve been looking for some authentic persian food for a while and this is easily my top choice in NJ. Seriously if you are ever in the area and are considering going here it is well worth it.
The food is cooked fresh when you order so take some time to enjoy the atmosphere and menu. They have everything from homemade cultural teas to fantastic kebabs and desserts. Not to mention their food is Halal for anyone curious. Like I said before if you want to enjoy some genuine Persian food there is no where else to look!“

“We ordered for the first time tonight from Sammy, former proprietor of JuJu’s Bagels now transformed into El Toum. We ordered 4 items and they were ready for pickup in less than 25 minutes. The Mixed Kebab platter, Kofta Burger with fries, Falafel Sandwich with extra tahini sauce, and El Toum Appetizer were refreshingly homemade, tasted delicious, and proved outstanding bangs for the buck. More than enough food for a family of four with leftovers. This is a very welcome addition to a neighborhood missing this kind of fare. I highly recommend supporting this local business. Finally, we have a Mediterranean place close to home. You have to come try this place and by the way they have an outdoor in the back where you can have hookah for those who are interested.“

“Been to Levant a couple of times now and I feel i’m ready to share my experience. First time I ordered a sausage feteer to go. It was still perfectly crispy when I got it home. I like the square bottom bag and the octagonal box the feteer comes in. Today, I was in the mood for a wrap. I ordered the beef shawarma. They toasted the wrap - nice and hot on a giant panini press. It was so juicy I didn’t need the special Levant sauce. Then I thought let me dig the wrap in the sauce and wow. Tasted even better. Will be back to sample their meat pies next!“

After we were graciously seated without a reservation (try to book ahead because you really won't want to miss this place), the staff was so kind, friendly, and attentive. “Well, we visited as part of a food tour of NY. Being quite frank, if we had been by ourselves we might well have walked right past Mamoun's; it doesn't have the greatest frontage, and some might be put off.
But oh, my! Get in there and have yourself the best falafel around. We've travelled to many parts of north Africa and the Middle East and I can honestly say that this is the best falafel we have had - especially with that brutally gorgeous hot sauce (two bottles purchased to take back to the UK).

My only gripe is that this is a counter top takeout place and the payment system asks for 15/20/25% tip and dude was watching me as I tapped the buttons on the screen, so I felt pressured to tip for no service before even getting my food. Not unique to this place but that’s the only reason I’m not hustling back.“

But if you’re someone who enjoys good service like me then this is not the place. after being sat down for 15 mins the server gave the menu. After reminding 3 times, we finally got water which was bottled and we were not told about I assumed they would bring tap water and on top of that they will randomly put 15% or 18% tip irrespective of party size. Waiting for menu for 15 mins and then waiting for water not sure what kind of service one is getting and to top it off getting the drinks ordered post meal! Again if you’re a foody then this a good place to try but not for the service.“

“Yemeni food in the heart of the Bronx. Authentic, flavorful and economical. We had the Lamb Haneeth, 10/10 and also had the hummus with meat 9/10. They start you off with broth soup & salad & the bread was perfect. Cost about $20 a person and we got a few cold drinks.“

Since their spot opened, I regularly pickup or dine in with loved ones. The hot sauce is deliciously spicy, the chicken is always grilled to perfection, the rice pudding is a perfect end to the meal, and the salad+hummus combo is my absolute favorite. Also, as someone with Celiac Disease, it’s been great to have this reliably gluten free delight in my neighborhood. FIVE STARS! after having Tawook Chicken or Lamb Kabob for dinner I like to take home some Mouhamara and some hummus, especially on a Friday, for snacking. Balade helps get me through the weekend. 😄 I'm sharing a pic of some of Balade's fresh, delicious, Mouhamara on a diced up baked red potato. I had this at home this morning. It's also great on pita, or a cracker, or a slice of toast, or . . .“
