“Let me start off by saying, if you want to complain about prices, don't even walk in the door. To get the optimal experience at any restaurant, you have to pay to play. So expect to spend about $70-100 per person here, this is a spot you take someone on a knock-it-out-of-the-park date or group gathering, you can't be a cheapskate. Now, to the food. Vietnamese BBQ is an intimate experience. Order the 7 course beef so you can try everything while the staff explains and helps you cook your meat. The electric grills are of the highest quality, the same ones they use at high-end Japanese yakiniku places, so the smoky taste on your cooked beef will be perfect. If you want to order a la carte, I highly recommend the Tomahawk, Madame Prawns and Charred Uni. Like I said, this is a place where you share your meal with friends and family so all the food is portioned that way.“

“I came to this place on the recommendation of a friend, but the price wasn't bad and I personally really enjoyed the meal. I had the banh mi sandwich with spicy sauce, ham and pate. It was crispy on the outside and full of fresh ingredients on the inside, and the spiciness stimulated my salivary glands so I kept eating it. lol“

“Around 6:30 in the evening on weekdays, the store is almost full, business is pretty good, and the store also takes a lot of takeout orders.
The two of us ordered a bowl of mixed beef pho, a fried spring roll and a pork bun, and were very satisfied with everything. The fried spring rolls were very hot when they were freshly fried. They were crispy on the outside and filled with minced pork. They were delicious with the dipping sauce. There are three pork buns in a portion, and the fillings are crispy pork belly, pickled radish and sweet noodle sauce. This combination is unexpectedly harmonious and very satisfying. It is my favorite. The beef rice noodles contain beef tendons, beef slices and beef balls. There is not much meat but a lot of rice noodles. The soup is sweet and has a bit of Chinese medicine. It is just right for two people to share a bowl.“

“Very unique Vietnamese restaurant, the dishes are not like anything you'll find even in the edgier restaurants in NYC. I found the food very interesting, and I'm glad I tried it, but the flavors blended together, it lacked distinctiveness. The food is pretty shareable. The low tables on the sidewalk are cute, but didn't look very comfortable“

“Best viet food I’ve ever eaten.
First time that I thought viet food might be better than Thai food lol
Their menu is a little hard to understand and the dish I posted isn’t on it. I found out about it by asking the waitress. It’s a must order.
The fried tofu crispy thing was avoidable. Everything else was great.
We ordered the bbq meat with those noodles and man what a stellar dish.
The doghnut thing in the picture I attached was my favorite.“

“Food 9/10
Killer banh mi - amazing portion sizes for the price, every single ingredient culminated in a very holistic sandwich that had crunch, tang, spice, and savory. We went to this place after a run, and it was a great way to end the workout. Their spice is absolutely no joke, they added jalapenos and chili oil, so I was kind of dying because I requested spicy for the #1 house special. The #2 had lemongrass chicken, but both were filled with pickled veggies, cucumber, and tender meats. The bread was also a nice level of crunch, it wasn’t brick hard nor too soft.
Atmosphere 7/10
A super small store near Chinatown / Little Italy. It was nice that they had both indoor and outdoor seating, very simple but all you really could ask for to eat a good banh mi.
Service 9/10
Very friendly staff!“

“Take out only. No seating inside.
Everything that we ordered was excellent: especially the chicken cutlet sandwich. The bread was great (not too crusty), the chicken was very tender, and the sauces and veggie toppings were very flavorful. We also loved the nems and the peanut mochi! So delicious!!“

“I had their takeout so can't review the atmosphere but their food was the bomb! We had the free range chicken pho which was delicious! Light but flavorful. The chicken pieces were a mix of white and dark but not the chewy dark pieces. I also was not super thirsty right after the meal which means they don't use MSG or any other chemicals to enhance the flavor. We also got their summer rolls which super fresh and so delicious.
Packaging of the food was super tight and thoughtful- no spills.
Def will be ordering again!“

“Saigon Social is an amazing Vietnamese restaurant in the LES of Manhattan. Owned and operated by Helen Nguyen who uses her wonderful restaurant to prepare food for those in need for various organizations in NYC. She is a wonderful person and an amazing chef using her classical training to prepare amazingly authentic and forward thinking Vietnamese dishes. It’s a must visit!!!!“

“Every time I visit a new Vietnamese restaurant, I try their pho
The pho:
- Broth was very rich and flavorful
- The amount of basil and bean spouts were generous.
- The lime was perfect! Far too many places do not know how to pick limes. This place is not one of them.
- Amount of noodles are perfect
- In the Pho Sao Mai, the amount of meat is plentiful
The staff was very kind and welcoming. The space is very clean and well kept. Will be returning to try their other food options.“

“It was a really good pho, we really enjoyed the food here. Everything about it tasted authentic. One little thing about it was that there was no highchair for my baby so he sat with us. But other than that this will be my new favorite place“

Nice and pleasant atmosphere.

“For someone who really loves Vietnamese food, it's not easy to find a really good Vietnamese restaurant in New Jersey. But, I finally found it.
The spring rolls ,fried chicken wings with fried garlic on top, and homemade dumplings were my absolute favorites (although the dumpling skin was thicker than usual, it was extraordinary). Of course, pho noodle soup the winner of all! It was the very different from other restaurants, with a deep-naturally flavored broth and tender beef texture. Oh it was so delicious . Can’t wait to return and try other dishes from the menu.
It's a small family-run restaurant, where you can feel right at home as you enter. If you are in Jersey and crave Vietnamese food, come to this place. (It’s also BYOB.)“

“Obao in Times Square was a great choice! Our server, Baitong, was friendly and attentive. I ordered the pho and fresh summer rolls; both were delicious. I have high standards for pho and theirs was pretty solid. Great food, great service—I’ll definitely be back! (Their drunken noodles look delicious)“

“Clean addition of a much needed viet spot in this part of Jersey City. They specialize in their local take of banh mi sandwiches. They also offer special one off items, weekly. They have all the staples: Viet coffee, avocado shake, summer rolls, spring rolls, banh mi, noodle bowls, rice dishes, and if you're lucky, pho.
Vegetarian options: There are French fries, tofu options on menu items, and green smoothies.
Kid-friendliness: Casual eatery
Wheelchair accessibility: Street level, so it's ADA compliant“

“we got the crispy calamari, beef & chicken satay, house special pho, & beef cubes with fried rice… we were impressed. I like the best of both worlds going on here. And the service was great. Price was good too, definitely worth the visit. Recommend the rice dishes and the calamari wasn’t what we were expecting but we ending up loving it - a sauce dipping calamari for sure. Will come back to try more on the menu, we want to try the lemongrass bbq next!“

“This place was clean. The servers were eager to explain the menu to a first time patron and were just very nice. The pork sandwich on a baguette that I had was topped with cucumbers and shredded carrots. It made for a wholesome meal. I really appreciated how clean they kept the woman's bathroom. I loved the aesthetician of this place too. Overall, I will definitely go back ....for so many reasons, despite the miles that part us.“

“We ordered takeout. The shaking beef 's beef was very tough. The roti was surprisingly good and the curry that came with it was delicious. The banh mi was okay. They were very busy in store and had a lot of roast meats. I might come back and try to dine in.“

“Such a cute spot! TLDR: great sandwich, customer service, value
I was craving a bahn mi while downtown and stumbled upon this shop. The spicy shredded chicken sandwich was divine. The chicken was tender, the veggies were crisp, and it was the perfect amount of spice. The bread was crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside - perfect for bahn mi!!
It was a great value for the portion size in this neighborhood.
The person who helped me at the register was very polite and kind! Definitely great customer service.
It’s definitely more of a “hole-in-the-wall” kind of place, but seems like a well kept secret. Will def have to come back and try the bubble tea combo.
Thanks Henry’s!!!“

“I visited this place for the second time and tried the Flank and Brisket Pho Noodles Soup. It truly showcases the typical flavors of Vietnamese noodle soup, but it is exceptionally delicious. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the combination of flank and brisket adds a wonderful depth to the dish. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic pho experience!
Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian noodles, but they are made with meat broth. Instead, you can choose the vegetarian stir-fried noodles.“

“We walked in for a to go order, we had the beed and chicken banmi
Pro: beef bami was nice, it was my first time to try banmi, it was also refreshing with the cucumber and some other veggies in there
Pro: chicken banmi, i like the flavor, i prefer this more than the beef and the meat was generous
Cons: chicken was dry
Cons: beef could have added more beef
I would go back and buy the chicken banmi again.“

“At this restaurant, you order up at the front, then find seating and they’ll bring you your food.
I ordered the Tai Gau — the broth was delicious and the noodles had great texture (I think they’re handmade?). I did spend a lot of time chewing the meat unfortunately but otherwise it was pretty much a 10/10 bowl of pho. I also got the lemongrass peach refresher, which I loved!
The pho took a bit of time to come out but I didn’t mind the wait—I was just especially hungry that day and eager to finally try the pho as I’ve passed by a few times in the past wanting to go in. Perhaps it was just the day I went and if not, this is just a heads-up if you’re in a rush I guess!
Overall, was it worth it? Mostly yes! The pho wasn’t very filling—at least for me—but the noodles were definitely unique and better than a lot of pho spots in the area ?
***My only other feedback is I wish they gave the lime with your order instead of pre-cutting and placing them in containers on the table to prevent them from drying up.“

“This is a small hole-in-the-wall mom and pop shop that offers tasty food. They offer pick-up service only. Ordered the banhi mi BBQ pork and it has excellent flavor and the bread was good as well. Thought it wasn’t going to be enough to keep me full, but was surprised I was not hungry at the end of the day. Great value for a good sandwich at less than $11 in midtown. Tip would be to get there before noon or order by phone because there will be a long line.“

“Pho is very very delicious! This is probably the best pho I have eaten recently. I recommend the Special Pho which has tripe in it. I have visited many times. The soup is very sweet but not the kind of MSG soup that will make your mouth dry. The rice noodles are also very chewy and have no strange taste. The beef is also delicious and not dry. I think the beef balls are just average. The spring rolls and seafood soup are also very ordinary, I recommend eating Pho. However, it is currently closed for inside use and only for takeout.“
