“I usually only order out from Paul's, but the food is always good, servers are always pleasant, the place is clean. A bit pricey but still affordable. Corn bread is very good but not this last time I ordered. Overall great place to eat.“
“Been here 4 times. I declare take 31 to be the top one on my list of Korean food in New York! The creamy udon pasta is super delicious and is my favorite dish. The creamy sauce is very rich and you won’t get tired of it even if you eat the whole plate. We have tried all three kinds of rice balls, and our favorite is the tuna fish rice ball. The 5 big pieces are full of sincerity and are so satisfying when paired with refreshing kimchi; the honey fried chicken has a sweet coating, and the mustard sauce it comes with is even more remarkable, retaining the mustard flavor without being spicy; the yogurt-flavored Rice wine has more flavor than banana flavor! It’s especially cool; the pork neck meat will be a little fatty; the corn tortillas have caramel adhering to the corn kernels, which are sweet and crispy, especially delicious! !“
“Really nice place. Felt very welcome from the moment we walked in! There was a short wait as they were fully booked. We were sat on our table and our waiting Andre! He was amazing ! Answered all our questions and even game some recommendations !Corn bread ? the best I’ve ever had. And Andre even gave us a couple extra! ??Food overall was really good ! Chicken was brilliant!Rum punch is a must. Complemented our meal nicely ?I will ? % come back next time I’m in New York!“
“I visited Melba’s on a cold ‘spring’ Friday night around 9 pm. The restaurant was around 75-80% capacity during my visit. The hostess was very nice and gave us a few options where we could be seated. It took 15 minutes to actually be attended to, I’m not sure why there isn’t at least 2 waitresses in the large dining area, but afterwards the service improved. My date ordered their special sangria and I ordered the strawberry Henny which was great- not too sweet and definitely strong (I ordered 2 and they were pretty consistent in flavor). My dish was the honey ginger salmon, I ordered a side of Mac & cheese as well a side of collard greens. My date ordered the fried catfish with mashed potatoes and Mac & cheese. He said this is his favorite restaurant in NYC and it did not disappoint. This was probably one of the best salmons I’ve ever had in my life, the best salmon I’ve had in NYC for sure. It was so juicy and flaky, cooked medium-rare the way I like it and it was well-seasoned. The collard greens were juicy and extremely flavorful- you wouldn’t know you’re eating a strong tasting green leafy vegetable. We also had the spring rolls as an appetizer- though it was definitely very greasy (apparently they used a thinner rice paper than when my date has been here before) the filling was very flavorful and much different than any other spring rolls I’ve ever had. The Mac & cheese was decadent! It had flavor, a little spice and I could taste the pepper. Mac & cheese is hard to find well-made outside of home cooking or Jamaican restaurants so they really deserve the praise here.Overall 5/5! Highly recommended and the ambiance is very nice, beautiful artwork. The bathrooms are clean and the music playlist was great- I was singing all night and even in the bathroom (they have speakers in there too). This place is a vibe, I was close to coming back for a second night in the row to try a different dish.**Update- I returned and wasn’t very hungry so I ordered the ginger salmon again but with collard greens and sautéed spinach this time. The salmon wasn’t cooked as perfectly as the first time, more on the drier side this time but still tasty. The greens were tasty as usual ?.“
“The gomtang is a VERY basic, clear broth soup. Really does not have much taste on its own. I personally like more flavorful foods and added the house special pepper paste, which I thought really elevated this dish and brought it to another level. I highly recommend eating the gomtang with the paste.I also ordered the kimchi mandu, which were delicious and spicy. Definitely packed more flavor compared to the gomtang.I recommend making a reservation because walk ins could be a long wait. The seating is around the counter, which I enjoyed as you can watch the food being prepared in front of you.Service was great. The chefs and hosts were very nice and explained things on the menu.“
“The food and service were excellent. Appetizers were great, including the Chicken Karaage (Bites) and Squid Skewer. Beef Gyoza was tasty as well. We had 3 different types of ramen, and all were delicious. The seafood ramen was good and hearty, and the pork broth was great. The pork cutlet was really good quality, meaty and soft. The service was very nice, helpful and friendly. Overall, a great experience and we'll definitely be back.“
“The food was amazing! It was seasoned very well. The staff was friendly. We enjoyed ourselves. We had a party of 15 and they didn't miss a beat. It was a bit pricy for some items but worth it. Very large portion sizes. I will definitely be eating here again!“
“The ultimate brunch spot in NYC. When I tell you the manager Will looks out and the grits are top tier along with the 90/2000 music by the DJ is elite. Im not joking. The photographer Zae capture my friend and I so perfectly. And the biscuits are amazingggg along with the grits with shrimp ??. A must when visiting “
“I have been craving banana pudding for some time and didn’t want to go in the city. Every place I’ve gone in New Jersey uses soggy wafers and chalky pudding. Now THIS is banana pudding, I’m actually worried about how dangerous this can be for me. It is delicious! I haven’t had an opportunity to try other items but I certainly will. Please give it a try.“
“Great energy from the employees, food was excellent taste and efficient service. Environment was clean and enough space to accommodate more than one customer. I had Mac and cheese, string beans, candied yam, rice and black eye peas. Salute to the chef Thank “

“Everything was a 10/10 .COME HERE ! The service itself was absolutely spectacular. I went on a Wednesday night and they had on soft R&B. The stuffed shrimp with crab meat wasn’t over cooked and just the right amount, But that pan seared Chilean……Baaaabyyyyy Soooo Good and everything tasted sooo fresh ! 100% my new favorite place!SB: The bartender/server Terrell was a sweetheart and knowledgeable.“
“This is some good ole southern food?! Fried chicken 20 stars!!! I’ve been to this place 3 times already, I always get the veggie plate, which is 4 sides. I get greens, cabbage, black eye peas, & pot salad or string beans. Now normally I don’t get nobody’s pot salad because since our generational grandmothers have all passed away , no one can do it right ?…. But baby pan fried did ?.. I was impressed?. Somebody over 40 made that pot salad ?. The only thing I haven’t taste , was the Mac n cheese ( my heartburn be killing me ) I can’t do all those cheese at this age & the yams. The honey they use to put on the chicken is good ( I had mines on the side ) & the cheesecake is good good good !!!?. The staff is really friendly, from the front to the back. Very nice black owned business ❣️“
“A very special place of warmth and true Jamaican hospitality in NYC. I have hosted several events here (3 cooking classes for students and a special pre-wedding fun "game night" party) and everyone loves generous-hearted Chef Mom, the delicious food she prepares and the wide open welcoming space. What a treat to have this gem in the middle of the city.“
“Damn the food was really good. I order the fried fish with Mac n cheese and cabbage. The cabbage very flavorful and the mac n cheese is really good. The fried fish was excellent to me. almost fell asleep after i finish. the ladies at the restaurant was super nice. the lady in the back knows how to cook. will come again.“
“Fried chicken is one of my favorite guilty pleasure foods and I've wanted to try this place for a while. Finally came here over the weekend after exercising (to justify the calories) and got the 3 piece fried chicken with 2 sides and corn bread. I was thinking 3 pieces would be too much for me, but the chicken pieces were quite small. The meat was so juicy and delicious and I ended up eating everything. For my sides I got the collard greens and the okra stew. The collard greens were good, but the okra stew was delicious. I definitely could have eaten a big bowl of just that. The least impressive part of the meal was the cornbread. There was really nothing special about it and I actually didn't eat all of it.“
“Great varieties of soul food. Excellent salad and fruit bar also. Buffet style setting. Take out only. Prices reasonable.Vegetarian options: Good selection of vegetarian dishes. Both hot and cold.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair ramp available.“
“When I tell you, me, and my party of 15, had a wonderful time, the music was good the food was out of this world. All of my party guesses had no complaints that was the best food I had in my life better than my mother food. Me and my friends are planning our next meet up at Shawnee’s lol. She was a wonderful host, her and her staff they accommodated my party to the maximum.“
“Being from the south Everything about this place is amazing. I was so hurt when I ate everything on my plate. The greens, I can't stop thinking about them. And the apple cobbler, I almost cried when I ate the last bite. I was curious about the crosstown drink and tried it. It did NOT disappoint. I found my new soul food place and can't wait to return.“
“Went 3/16/2024 for my bday enjoyed myself DJ Hollywood was on the 1s n 2s music was freaking awesome wasn't able to get hookah or food servicer was busy all good next time gonna make it my business to get a hold of a servicer lol drinks were righteous I was feeling “
“Good food. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Mac and Cheese, solid. If all you care about is the food in relation to the price you pay, it is definitely a strong option. For a little more, you can get better quality food and service at Miss Mamies only half a block away tho..“
“A new restaurant and bakery to the neighborhood that services Soul and Creole food. Finally had the opportunity to try it out, i ordered the Jerk Chicken lunch and Oxtail lunch with seasoned rice, candied yams and mac & cheese. Everything was delicious - i love that the meat falls off the bone of the chicken and oxtail... also the candied yams were cooked just right (not overly soggy)i was expecting bigger portions but im ok to sacrifice quantity for quality... They have a bunch of baked goods and pies that i havent tried yet. Also, they may not have everything on the menu as they are still getting going - so worth calling to see whats available that day. Im looking forward to going back and trying other plates“
“This been my caribe go-to spot for few years now. Try the smoothies I promise you wont want other smoothies after trying. The food is off da hook! I love they vegan cake, stress juice, cassava pone pudding omg!curry chick peas the kale patties trust me you wont go nowhere else!“
“Soul Food how it should taste in an old school Harlem restaurant. Very friendly staff that makes you feel home away from home. Excellent variety of southern food, salads and drinks. That is like 20 yrs back in time and light years from corporate America taking over 125th street.“
“For a first time I will say this ?DELICIOUS I mean I had to go to work and the food was still hot when I got to work the seafood bag which I was allowed to create was amazing as well as my other 4 sides (Mac n cheese collard greens yams and crab salad which was amazing) you have gained a new customer see u“
“Space is small, so a reservation is definitely needed. All run by chef and owner, Artist. That day we had the place almost all to ourselves and he made our experience one of a kind with his hospitality and attention. Eating delicious food while the guest musician played made for good vibes. We made quick friends with our dining neighbor and the whole restaurant just talked about life. Would definitely return again!“
“Some of the best fried food I’ve had without it being too greasy or salty! Freshly battered and fried - true comfort food. The candied yams were particularly fragrant and well spiced. Highly recommended!Vegetarian options: Fried okra and candied yams“
“The best restaurant of the entire trip to New York. We felt like we were at home eating dinner with our mothers. It filled the stomach and the soul. This is an obligatory stop to discover how well people eat in the United States. Great southern food.“
“The food was fantastic. Loved the vibes too. The music was on point. I felt like I was back home in Jamaica. I can’t wait to come back for more. I definitely encourage anyone who lives here in NY or visiting to check out this restaurant. Big Tings a gwaan.“
“Roberta’s featured nice indoor/ outdoor décor, good food, a stacked bar and a live DJ doing a livestream keeping the place lively when I was there on a Friday night. It’s a place to go with or without friends, to meet people or on a lil dinner date. The service was excellent, and I love that it’s a Black-owned, family run business. I highly recommend it!“
“I’ve been very impressed with the food here. Even though it’s buffet style, the meat is always extremely tender and hot. The jerk chicken is definitely the highlight, but many of the other dishes are worth it as well. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner at a reasonable “
“Devin braved the cold and wind with a smile on his face and cooked up crispy henny bbq wings(his mom’s recipe). The sauce on the wings were spectacular. The Mac and cheese with truffle oil( i think he said) hit the spot. I also had the skillet cabbage ?? my pallets was doing the happy dance. Please do your self a favor and go support him, you wont regret it.?????“
“This restaurant has replaced my kitchen! It is at the end of my street and I have gotten take out from there several days a week. The food is fresh, well prepared, the prices are more than reasonable and the portions are huge!. I have tried mainly all of the chicken dishes and most of the sides; either by myself or with friends. The macaroni pie is amazing.! he food is also set out several times a day so it always is fresh .The owner/chef is a friendly outgoing man and his staff are also very friendly. It has counter seating and a buffet presentation. It is well worth a visit.“
“I walked in there the other day and picked up my own GrubHub order from the outside of this place I had a good feeling because it looked very homey style and then when I had the smothered pork chops I thought I died and went to heaven they were so tender they fell apart in my mouth!! I’ve never had my pork chops so amazingly tender and decadent in flavor I see why this is an absolute favorite!! macaroni and cheese bangin’, Rice and peas delicious cabbage and carrot style vegetable delicious,. Collard greens yum yum“

“Loved the vibes, menu was a bit limited but I would say decent varieties to choose from. Drinks were great, Churros were ok nothing special! Mexican rice was spicy so if you enjoy some spice definitely try that out. Fish tacos were delicious. Chicken quesadillas were amazing, probably my fav item on the menu balanced seasoning and great flavor.“
