“Had the brisket, ribs, Texas slaw and deviled eggs. Glad to find they had no sugar in the slaw or dry rubs. The food was all very good, brisket was moist and flavorful, but lacked the smoke ring and smokier flavor I love. Added to one of my return spots if I'm in the area again.“

“As someone from the South, I have high expectations for a good fluffy biscuit, and Pie n Thighs definitely delivered! We went during their week of $5 chicken biscuits, and wow my boyfriend and I were impressed :) The biscuits were fluffy and almost to the point of breaking (cause they were that well made). But the sandwich held up with the nice fried chicken. Maybe it was just a miss, but we also ordered a couple of chicken biscuits to-go, and one of them had a very small chicken cutlet. Still delicious but slightly disappointing.

I’d say skip on the sides though. We opted for the 3 sides for $18, and it was NOT worth (way too pricey for mediocre sides). But I do highly recommend a slice of pie! We got the apple pie to go, and wowie, even reheated it was amazing!“

Food was wrapped and packaged nicely. Overall the food was good. The cornbread I didn't care for. The red velvet was soft and moist. And not overly sweet. I didn't realize the frosting had nuts, which I wasn't crazy about. Overall, I would definitely come back.“

“Was in Printers Alley this weekend with my parents for the first time staying in a hotel nearby and found this place really nice and chill with good food, loads of TVs for games with a big NFL game on while we were in - We sat at the bar as a lot of the tables were reserved but Thomas was so nice and took great care of us while checking in regularly with us to make sure we were okay while also giving my parents a laugh and recommendations on what to do around the city. “I wanted to express what a delight Time Out Market location brought my daughter and I. We were on a 3 hour tour, and they stopped at DUMBO for photo opts and mentioned this place of business as a reference to where the free public restroom was. 😆 Our ears perked up because we heard pickles. After we explored the views, we went in and ordered some deep fried pickles and a pint of dill to go. Those were the best deep fried pickles we've ever enjoyed. The batter on them was unlike anything we've had and the dipping sauce was delicious. We got back to the hotel room, at 10:30 at night and devoured the entire container of pickles and drank all the juice. This was the third day that we were in NYC and we've done a lot of exploring, and that $6 pint of pickles was all we needed to refresh for our trip home the next day. “I’ve always been a fan of the Commodore so was delighted this opened up closer to me with the same menu. They make a perfect blended mint mojito, great queso, and have awesome atmosphere. There’s outdoor seating once it warms up so it’s a great place to drop by for a couple drinks and snacks! The bartenders are great and sociable and the bar has matchbooks. Don’t know what else you’d want!“

I thought at first it was going to taste like pure butter, they’re is actually a nice balance of butter, salt, and a flavor that can only be described as butterscotch I suppose. They also stack this ice cream super high, so for the price you really get your money’s worth. I also got the bag of biscuits. They were buttery and tasted really homemade. I honestly ate the whole bag in a day because they were so good. The butter they came with was also really good. I can’t wait to come back here so I can try more!“

So we got a bucket of mixed chicken, two sides of Mac and cheese, and some collard greens (they make them with black eyed peas and tomatoes; totally different from any kind of greens I ever had and I definitely was left craving more. The queso is very much on par with what you’d get at a Ninfa’s. Pricing is remarkably reasonable across the board. This is quickly becoming my favorite spot in NYC.“

Love this plated for dates it gets packed so go early sometime you have to wait for a table so just be prepared for a little wait. Beware that if you dine in, there is only a portable AC that absolutely struggled to perform; I found the temperature inside unbearably hot. I felt bad for the staff, who were fantastic.

“Texas Star serves really good breakfast options. I always order scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, and sausage (hot sausage, pork links, or patties). Breakfast is always served fresh and made to order. The bacon and sausage are bursting with flavor. The omelettes and sunny side up eggs are also tasty. The portions are very filling, I usually have leftovers that warm up well for the next day. The staff are consistently professional. The food tastes like it's home cooked and saves me from cooking when I'm not up to it. I highly recommend for breakfast.“
