“Chongqing Lao Zao is a restaurant where you go not only for the delicious food but for the entire experience. You walk through the entrance and it is like stepping into a whole new universe that takes place in ancient China. The staff is friendly and seating is comfortable. So many food options and a beautiful sauce bar as well. Definitely recommend the dual pot. Beware of the amount of chilis in their spicy broth. Mild is shockingly spicy but we ended up separating the chili peppers from the broth after a bit and got the tomato broth to balance it out. A small thing but we also really enjoyed the little snacks they brought out in the beginning. Watermelon seeds and I think they were broad beans? Seasoned really well. Highly suggest either grabbing a reservation or joining the waitlist early here.
Now for my standard comments. Location is clean and well kept.“

“I always come here after a long day of a work trip. Coming from a place where most hot pots are all you can eat. I was a little shocked by the prices, but once I received my order and saw the portion in the quality, I totally understood. Flavors are great and ingredients are fresh. You’re paying for a cleanliness and quality. Servers are kind and accommodating and check on you often. You don’t need to order a ton to leave here feeling very full and satisfied.“

“This authentic and yet upscale hotpot restaurant is fabulous, worth to visit again ( in which, I am returning AGAIN today with a party of 6!) Highly recommend Dolar Shop Manhattan to anyone who loves hot pot because of the following: -Excellent friendly service ( special thanks to Jason's exceptionally wonderful, attentive service, as well as the incredible professional manager Charles ) - Flavorful broth - large variety of food to choose from - high quality meat choice ( fine wagyu beef , USDA PRIME boneless short ribs, as well as fresh seafood ) Fresh and crisp veggies - clean environment“

“Another hot pot place to try that has seasonal crawfish that is so fresh, you won’t regret ordering it. Crawfish are giant with fresh garlic flavoring. The soup base is out of this world and is a must try if you are in flushing. We got the tomato and pork bone and I’m telling you, some soup makes your mouth dry because of the high msg content but this one doesn’t. Everything was fresh and the staff were top notch. I know there a lot of hot pot in flushing and there are so many good ones out there but none can say they serve fresh crawfish and 12% off high school ID for students as a promotion. I will be honest, if it wasn’t for the crawfish and the discount, it would be harder to separate as there are many good hotpot spot but for now, this would be my go to spot until the promo is over.“

“My first time trying coconut hot pot and I’ve clearly been missing out! The coconut broth was light and sweet, and way easier on the stomach than a regular hot pot.
We visited on one of the coldest days, and the restaurant was PACKED. It’s located in Downtown Flushing, literally right next to Tangram. It’s also more affordable than other coconut hot pot spots in the city, with a heartier portion too.
Shoutout to the impeccable service — our server even helped skim off the floating oil from the broth (and made me want to buy that ladle lol).
*Coconut Chicken (for two) 皇椰雞套餐 $75.95
They use cage-free chicken, and the pieces were generously sized with not too much bone. This portion was already enough to feed four. The set also comes with vegetables, plus your choice of rice or noodles. The coconut broth wasn’t heavy at all that we were basically sipping it nonstop.
*Poached Egg & Beef Clay Pot Rice 窩蛋牛肉煲仔飯 +$15
You get a discounted price if you add their claypot rice to your hot pot order. It looked very promising and delicious, especially with the runny poached egg. But I thought the rice needed a few more minutes in the clay pot to crisp up the base a bit more.
*Maxi’s Noodle Wonton 雲吞妹雲吞 $9.95
The price is pretty steep for just three wontons, but I love Maxi’s so much that I still went for it. The shrimp wontons were so plump and meaty.
*Handmade Battered Shrimp 極品鮮蝦滑 $12.95
SOOOO GOOD I am a fan of shrimp paste in a hot pot.“

“If you're craving hot pot in the LIC area, this is a solid choice. Price obviously depends how much you get; dining as a party of 4, we spent around $50pp. Everything can be requested or ordered via the iPad (including a call service button), so there's limited direct contact with staff. I like how they provide bags for jackets to make sure not ALL of your possessions come out of the restaurant smelling like hotpot.
While it makes sense to have a big table to hold all of our ingredients, I felt the distance from one end to the table to the other was large! We had to raise our voices to talk to each other.
The sauce bar has the essentials as well as 2 side dishes (altho I don't remember what they were, I didn't end up getting them) and orange slices (we ate those at the end of the meal).
There is only one bathroom for the entire restaurant, so there was a bit of a line when I had to go.“

“The malatang here is really good, and the service is great. There are a lot of options to choose from, so it’s easy to customize your bowl. They offer free froyo if you pay cash, and they also include a Yakult regardless of payment method, which is a nice touch. Definitely a place I’d recommend!“

“I'm really happy to have an AYCE hotpot place in the UWS! The staff here were all really friendly. There was a mix-up with a reservation issue, and the staff were very apologetic about the inconvenience, and happily accommodated us the next day. They're newly open, so we think there was just a sudden influx of new customers that they weren't expecting.
The food was delicious-- we got the spicy soup base and tomato soup base in a split pot. We only put in one order of all our ingredients, but the server reminded us that it's AYCE and that we shouldn't be shy about ordering more, which was really nice. They were much less busy on Sunday evening, so noise level was very good for conversation, and you don't feel like you need to rush for other customers to come in.
The selection of meats and veg is great, and the sauce bar has everything that I normally use for hotpot sauces!
We're definitely coming back with friends! Thank you Spice Lamb! :)“

“My girlfriend and I decided to try something new tonight, I’ve never had Hot Pot before and saw this place had 5 stars across the board so I obviously got curious and as soon as you walk in you see why. The customer service was amazing and that alone is why I would go back. I don’t remember her name but she was so helpfully showing us how things work, the menu etc. it definitely made us feel comfortable. And then on top of that the food is great, the broth is 🤤🤤🤤.
I’ll be turning!“

“Amazing Korean buffet-style shabu shabu! The veggie and side selections are extensive with tons of fresh options, and the meat choices are plentiful and high quality. Portions are very generous, the staff is super welcoming, and the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving shabu shabu, it’s very close to the experience of eating it in South Korea. Will definitely be back! 🍲🔥“

“Variety of choices and specialty soup base with ingridients in large portion. Loved the fried lotus pancake and fried pork. The sidedish bar is charged by head count as $3 per person, its reasonable with many great choices and meat cold dishes included as well. Recommend the Orange lemon tea drink to eat along with pots as the soup gets saltier with adding the soup in. Would definitely go back to try other dishes and soup base. One thing to improve is the cups and dishes, saw dusts inside the cup which might from the fan ventilation above the table. I like how their music isnt super loud.“

“A solid and very good 4/5. 💝
Great food! 🥰
Having Szechwan dry pot as an option is incredible for non-soup-wanters! 😋
A pretty safe introduction to hot pot with a few ingredients you likely haven't tried before to boot! 🪷
Overall it won't kill you with spicy so feel free to ask for extra hot! 🌶️
The sauce bar left a bit to be desired--it was low/out of everything. 😭
The vibe? Hot pot made accessible, easy, and fast! 🌸“

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Came to KPOT BBQ for the food and left raving about the entire experience. The food was great, fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you walk into a place like this. But somehow the service was even better. Shoutout to Stella, our server, who absolutely made the night. Attentive, friendly, funny, and on top of everything without ever hovering. She handled our table like a pro and cooked some of our food for us too! , even while I was clearly having the time of my life and probably making a bit of a spectacle of myself. Stella, if you’re reading this, thank you for making an already great meal unforgettable. And if by some chance you felt the same good vibes, feel free to reach out. Either way, KPOT BBQ has a customer for life.“

“I was starving before I got here. My stomach was growling so loudly it could be heard in LA. My friends and I picked the diamond tier, half spicy miso and half house broth. Spicy miso wasn't thaaaat spicy but I liked the flavor a lot. The staff is attentive they bring you more food super quickly. I got a strawberry cocktail IT WAS SYRUP. no alcohol in it , or at least I didn't taste it. I had one sip and I thought j was drinking FABULOSO cleaning agent !!!!! Obviously don't wear clothes in here that you don't want a scent trailing after you . You will be craving meat all day. I liked the shoulder it was the least fatty. However I went to my doctor and they said I have a cholesterol issue so I can't come here often otherwise I might x__x“

“Zaomen Qian in Flushing and was surprised by how affordable it is — many skewers are only $0.30 each and there’s a big variety to choose from.
They also have a promotion where you get a free diaolong beef if you spend $100. Besides skewers, you can also order dishes à la carte. I tried the oysters, fatty beef, and scallops, and everything tasted fresh.
Overall a good spot for skewers with lots of options and very reasonable prices.“

“I’m a regular here (at least twice a month!) and love this place. The mala hot pot is always flavorful, and the sweet and sour pork is so good — I order it almost every time.
FYI: if you order the sweet and sour pork, give them a little extra time since it’s made fresh. Definitely one of my go-to spots!“

“It was an amazing Shabushabu experience, we got The Premium Course ($178 per person), where the meal was mostly served with A5 Miyazaki Wagyu.
Attentive service where the staff explained which sauce to pair with the meat. I never thought you could dip your meat into different combinations of sauces. The best pairing was the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu with Karajiru and Nori paste.
Overall, a very cozy and delicious meal.“

“Lunch special sets start daily at 11 am. I like the boiled fish set meal and the spicy hot pot set meal. Each lunch special also includes 10 extra skewers of your choice of grilled meats and a complimentary bottle of soft drink, cola, chrysanthemum tea, and hawthorn juice. Available in mild, medium, and spicy flavors. You can also choose the daily self-service meal mode. I haven't planned to try the grilled fish yet. Mala Tang is much better than Yang Guofu and Zhang Liang's. The key to delicious mala tang lies in its seasoning techniques.“

“A solid hotpot spot in Fort Lee and one of the better options in New Jersey.
The mala broth was quite spicy (which I liked), and all the vegetables, meats, and other ingredients were fresh and well-prepared.
The menu had a good variety, and the quality was consistent throughout the meal. Service was attentive, and the overall atmosphere was clean and comfortable.
Need to bring own alcohol.“

“Had lunch here yesterday and loved it so much I came back today. As a truck driver we are limited to food options on the road for obvious reasons but I’ve been parked in the area and had the opportunity to venture for food. “We haven’t been in four years. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food remains and how refreshed the restaurant look after the renovation from 2 yrs ago. The restaurant looks brighter, lighter and just more fun. The night we came for dinner, the clientele seemed younger and again more fun. That said, the star of the night remains the food. The beef in our sukiyaki was soft, and super yummy. The veggies were complimentary and rounded out the flavors of our dish. We ordered extra prime beef, and veggies and noodles. We also order more beer and sake. We totally enjoyed our evening. If you have never been or haven’t been in a while come again or come back and give it another try. You won’t be disappointed and we highly recommend.“

“My friend and I - both longtime lovers of Asian cuisine - were originally headed to another spot for lunch, but it was closed for a break until 5 PM. Hungry Monster was nearby, so we decided to give it a try - and we’re so glad we did!
Though the restaurant is small, it’s incredibly cozy and comfortable, with a mix of four-person tables and bar-style seating with stools. When we arrived, there were only a couple of teenagers sipping smoothies, so we practically had the place to ourselves. That meant we got the full attention of our wonderful waiter, Biscuit, who was very attentive and made us feel well cared for from start to finish.
We both ordered their signature dish package - I chose the soup-based seafood package, and my friend ordered the beef version. Each dish came served in a small cauldron, full of different ingredients and rich flavor. The portions were generous, so I ended up taking half of mine home. As a nice touch, they packed my leftovers in a high-quality branded bag with the restaurant’s name, which I really appreciated.
We ended our meal with drinks - mine was a refreshing grapefruit and lemon green tea, and my friend had a Mango Tea Yakult, which was fruity, creamy, and perfectly balanced.
The ambiance added to the experience. The decor combines traditional Asian elements with anime-style art, even on the bathroom door! It was fun, vibrant, and gave the place a unique personality. Pleasant background music played throughout the meal - it was noticeable enough to enhance the atmosphere but soft enough not to interfere with conversation.
Some practical notes:
• They offer delivery, and you can get a 10% discount on takeout if you pay in cash.
• They’re open every day.
• The only downside is parking - limited spots in front of the restaurant and no obvious public parking nearby. You can risk parking in the nearby plaza, but there are tow warnings posted. Thankfully, we didn’t have any trouble.
All in all, we had a wonderful lunch at Hungry Monster. The food was fantastic, the service was top-notch, and the whole experience felt welcoming and personal. We’ve been to many Asian restaurants before, and this one stood out in the best way.
If you enjoy Asian cuisine, we highly recommend Hungry Monster. We’ll definitely be coming back! 5/5 stars“

“I was craving mala xiang guo and this hit the spot. Located right of main street, this fast casual restaurant is your classic malatang spot. You fill up your bowl with the ingredients you want, weigh it, and once they cook it and it's ready, you just pick it up from the counter!
They have a variety of veggies, fish tofus, and meats for you to add to your malatang. I would say that their selection is a bit smaller than I'm used to, and a lot of their meats were already marinated (which I don't like). But, their veggie selection was good and fresh. I got their spicy mala xiang guo, and it came with a side of rice. It was good, but I felt like it wasn't spicy enough so I went to go make my own sauce. I wish there was just a bit more seasoning sauce in their mala xiang guo. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it.“
