“Our entire experience was amazing. The staff were super helpful, kind and knowledgeable. They recommended dishes to us as well as what made sense for a caviar tasting. We shared one of their tastings and it was enough for 2 people. We added a few side dishes as well and were graciously gifted dessert. The space itself is beautifully decorated. Fun place to host a girls meals or group dinner as well as a date night.“

Their Dutch baby “Primadonna” pancake and lobster roll are to die for. Much of what is on the menu it’s imported from Italy of the finest ingredients. It’s always fun to take the ferry across from Manhattan to the Pepsi Cola Sign and walk a couple of blocks. They can accommodate large groups, children, pets, wheelchairs, (you name it) at their outdoor seating. Run there. 😊💕“

“Those in the know won't worry to much about 5 leaves not being rated a 4.5 or higher, why you ask? Because it really doesn't matter when the ricotta pancakes are THAT FREAKING GOOD! Seriously every 3rd person orders those pancakes. They also have a great Mocha and black kale salad. If you're not in the mood for sweet fair try the moroccan scramble which is perfect for something light but filling. I got the BLAT on my first visit and it was also good. Now if you're there for dinner been warned the burger is quite filling but it will be worth it even if you gotta waddle home.“

“I had to take one star off because this is definitely not a fine dining experience even though that is what they advertise themselves as. If it were not for the food I would have given this a two star review.

The experience was not pleasant. We were seated at a makeshift table, where the window was right behind me. My seat was the bench to the window (essentially where people sit to wait to be seated). I do not know if this is an everyday thing or because they were overbooked but this was not pleasant. The table was right next to the door, so everytime the door opens the wind blasts at us (it did not help that there was a kid that was running in and out of the restaurant). Other guests were standing right next to our table hovering right over us as we were eating and because they were waiting to be seated. For a "fine dining" restaurant there was nothing "fine dining" to it.

The food however was very good. The blending of Asian influences with a modern approach was very nice. The fried chicken was incredible. The inside was still super juicy and soft while the outside was very crispy. That was our favorite dish of the night.“

We came for the a la carte menu and the standout dishes for us were the longgonisa, the momo, the trout, and number one was the pork belly. “The food and service at Robert is always exceptional! Tonight, a friend and I went there to celebrate her birthday. Initially, we were unable to secure a table by the window facing Columbus Circle. The lovely woman at the front desk was aware of our preference and, after a few minutes at another table, was able to move us to a table very near the window. My friend and I have dietary restrictions due to food allergies, and our server could not have been more attentive and patient. We started with the Spring Minestrone soup and the Tuna Tartare. Our entrees were the Spaghetti'd Squash and the Scottish Salmon. For dessert we shared the Molten Chocolate Cake. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented! The atmosphere is serene, and the restaurant is elegant. It is the perfect dining experience!“

If you do sneak in 😂 you will find friendly people serving OUTSTANDING food (small, careful menu) in a house that Jazz built.

Jazz folks this is the real deal. Everyone else should just come and enjoy the magic of live music.

Pro tip: come early for a seat for the 1st set or arrive late to get a seat by the 2nd set (most likely).

Vegetarian options: Small menu so check beforehand. My 2 vegetarians were fine.

“5 stars are not enough to tell you how good this place is. We've been staying in the Franklin Guesthouse (hotel adjacent to Madre) for a couple of nights and decided to give Madre a shot - boy were we in for a treat! Firstly, shout out to Armando, who made us feel immediately welcomed with his warmth and energy! For food, we got the Frutti di Mare, Croquetas, Brussels Sprouts, Cornbread Madeleines (compliments from chef) and Chicken - massive MASSIVE props to Chef Bryan and his very talented team. To say that they cooked "well" would be the understatement of 2022. They absolutely blew our minds with top quality medley of ingredients, depth of flavor, and masterful execution in every way. Cocktails were fun and delectable, which added the perfect "pop" to the culinary rocket ship that Madre served up. Just when my wife and I were ready to call it a night, Chef Bryan and Armando were kind enough to bring out the Pot de Creme for us, which was the bow and ribbon on this very special dinner. My only regret of the night was not having enough stomachs to enjoy more of what Madre could serve up. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Madre!“

“There are 3 small stairs down to the front door (I’m sure there is a handicap accessible ramp somewhere but just wanted to point it out).

We dined for brunch at the outdoor patio (there’s also a space heater if needed) and street dining. The inside looked beautiful and opens to bar top seating and then dining area. We had great service but expect really pricey coffee ($7-9) and entrees ($40pp after tip without coffee).
We shared 2 dishes and both were very delicious! The eggs benedict ($27) was cooked perfectly with a rich hollandaise. I asked for the home fries cooked well done and they were absolutely crispy and lightly seasoned to perfection! The portion of the thick cooked bacon was generous. The macro Bowl ($35) was very filling with a creamy tahini dressing. The dish is presented deconstructed but forms a great bowl when mixed together! I would definitely come here if the dishes were just $10 less but a great experience overall!“

“Had the chef's tasting menu dinner with two friends. It was consensus 5 ⭐ for the food afaict. One of the friends, who typically won't visit the same restaurant twice, indicated it was so good they would consider returning. They also added onto their list the sister's restaurant of Traif.

My favorite was probably the scallop risotto, closely followed by the caprese salad.“

The wait was not long to get a table and the service was prompt, professional, courteous, and didn’t leave us in want of anything. All of our needs were met. We also got the tuna tartare to share - the portion was small and it lacked flavors. The item was unexpectedly expensive at $23. We were a bit taken aback by the prices, as they seemed to be comparable to those in Manhattan.“

“I was very impressed, moonlighting in the bartender night life for the last 20 years. I normally don’t go out to bars. My sister and myself were down at Lenox hospital for our Dads surgery. One of the desk staff at Franklin Hotel recommended Penrose! The staff, manager and bartender were so friendly. I have to say I was very happy. “Went there on a Friday night. It took a little while for us to be seated. But once we got seated, our waiter was very attentive and courteous. The food was great and so were the drinks. We had lobster spaghetti and shrimp & crab ravioli. For the drink, i had the gold digger cocktail. It's a lychee martini, ifykyk. The DJ was a vibe. They played afrobeat, R&B/hip-hop, reggae, and Spanish music. It's very loud in there, not a place for convo, but more for turning up. Definitely will be coming back.“
