“Visited Garvan’s today for the first time for a late lunch in the Pub. We started with Mexican Street Carrots. So delicious! My husband had the traditional Irish breakfast and I had the lamb stew. Both meals were excellent. Wish we could have had dessert, but we were so stuffed. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. We’re looking forward to visiting again.”

“100% recommend novellas! We just recently celebrated our wedding there and we had the best. Time. They made the entire wedding process so easy for us, with menu items, decor, timelines, everything. You name it, they did it! Bryce, Chloe, and their entire team were so helpful and kind. So willing to step up to plate, and the food was DELICIOUS. Super affordable and convenient as well, and they answered any and every question they had. Our special day was made even better thanks to the wonderful work of their staff and the beautiful scenery of their venue. My guests and family were overjoyed and welcomed happily by all of them, and I’m incredibly grateful! This place has become like family, and we’ll be back as often as we can now because of their professionalism and kind hospitality! Thank you guys!!”

It has amazing flatbread pizza with all the gourmet toppings you can think AND they have a few dinner specials that are absolutely delicious. Lastly, everything is fresh, tasty and not overly priced. If you haven’t been here you are missing out.”

“This weekend was my first time visiting New Paltz and my girlfriend and I stopped by this place as soon as we saw pickles (I love pickled food) I bought a pineapple habanero hot sauce and a jar of their dill pickles with garlic. The hot sauce was absolutely fantastic, very spicy just as the owner warned me, but delicious and the pickles were so acidic and tart yet sweet and savory. They have lots of things like pickled jalapenos, different home made juices and mixes and a lot of sandwiches, Frank's is a must stop for anyone who likes pickled foods with good sandwiches with great sauces.”

Starbucks has nothing on Mudd except hype. You want good ☕️ and reasonably priced selection of quality products when you need a break Mudd Puddle is worth a drop in.”

“Everyone and everything is great. Best sushi I've had outside Japan, no joke. This is my new go-to Japanese place in the Hudson Valley, it's the best. Do not hesitate. I recommend the yellowtail and jalapeno plate (appetizer).”

“This place has an old-timey feel to it which I love. Prices are fair. Service is too. Selection for ice cream is pretty good. They will have at least one flavour that is non-dairy. I got a hot fudge sundae with cookie dough ice cream.
Seating is limited to a couple of seats towards the entrance.
They accept both cash and card.

Parking: There is parking on Plattekill Ave. Before 6 pm you have to pay. After it's free

Wheelchair accessibility: There is none. You have to use the stairs.”

“Right on the Walkill River/Empire State trails on the North side of New Paltz so a better more convenient location you cannot find. Place was busy and the wait was worth it.”

“Cajun food in New Paltz NY? I was skeptical, but what we had was terrific! That night the only exception was the jambalaya which seemed overcooked and dry. But everything else was great, the five of us had a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. Too full for dessert. Next time! Easy parking, inside and outside deck seating options.”

We lucked out and landed on a Tuesday in which there is a special promotion for a pie. Not that you need one because the pies at GP are astronomical (and delicious).

I stopped by with my 3yr old and pregnant wife , and we didn't have to break the piggy bank to satisfy our cravings, which were insatiable.

I believe it was the owners who served us then his team mates who were all graceful and professional.

Tell you what, I think we'll stop by again.

“I know things have to change...but seeing how the place was virtually stripped of all its character from the days of Steve's ownership just broke my old New Paltzian townie heart. I was glad to see old favorites on the menu and maybe some new ones...it wasn't really the same though. I was sad not to see the wooden booths where one *thought* private conversations could be had and the old wooden bar that had so many great moments of community shared. And the local art work too...gone. Not sure if I will return...I'll have to hold onto my memories, though perhaps I will convince my home grrrllzz to go and make new ones with me when I come to town. I am grateful that the name hasn't changed-it was hard enough when it changed from The Gay Nineties Bistro to just *The Bistro*. I am also glad there are menu items on there I know and love. I wish the owners good luck and longevity. It's really an institution and I'd hate to see it fall to ruin like so many of my cherished places of the past.”

Jerk chicken wrap is also REAL good and that sauce with it is something else. If you love Caribbean and jerk food, this place will make you happy!!”

The pork skin is my favorite part of the dish, so crunchy and the flavor is always SO RICH and good. 12-14 ish for rice beans and pork is fine for me, and the small portion is always enough for me, sometimes I have leftovers even. Overall I’m always satisfied with the food here.”

She helped pull together a custom dinner for 80+ starving rock climbers without skipping a beat. She predicted our hungry behavior better than I could!! Everyone raved about the food (pasta, salad, main dishes, gluten free pasta, cookies = delish!), and we can't wait to come back to New Paltz and work with her again in the future. “Very pleasant surprise! It was an AARP Promotion - free slice and beverage after speaking with an AARP volunteer. Never knew about Rocco's before this invitation to lunch. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our pepperoni slices and bottled iced tea. We were treated just as politely with our free meal as if we reached in our pocket to pay. We will definitely return for lunch/dinner when our travels bring us to New Paltz again!”
