“SHAKALAKA Bakery in Flushing is one of the more visually polished modern Chinese bakeries in the area and a reliable stop if you’re looking for cakes, pastries, or grab-and-go sweets that feel a bit more updated compared to traditional bakeries nearby.

The mango-based cakes are the most consistent thing here. They’re light, creamy, and built around fresh fruit rather than overly heavy frosting, which makes them easy to finish even after a full meal. The matcha cake also works well, leaning more milky than bitter, with a soft sponge that holds its structure without feeling dry. The pork floss cakes are one of the more interesting savory-sweet options, and they’re better than expected if you’re used to standard bakery versions since they don’t go overboard on sweetness.

The croissants and egg tarts are solid supporting items rather than the main reason to come. The croissants are flaky with a noticeable butter layer, and the egg tarts are best when eaten warm since the custard tightens up when cold. “I go every Monday with my husband , we love this place , the front guy desk with glasses I don’t know his name but he is so amazing he is one of the kind me and my husband loves going there because of how he is treating us nice and good customer service , my husband is a police officer and I’m a teacher so we only get 1 once a week to go on a date and every week on Monday we go to curry N wok because it’s so awesome , the food so amazing too , customer service amazing , I love the DoSa , pakora with their amazing tea , also their sambar Veda super super amazing , this place it’s my go to . “I’m literally writing this while I’m still sitting here because these guys deserve a shout-out. I’ve been to a bunch of Dave’s Hot Chicken spots, and this is easily the best one.

I was having a nightmare with the app, and Mohammed took the lead helping me figure the whole thing out. He was patient, never rushed me, and made sure everything was taken care of. Ahnaf was very helpful too, and both of them were friendly, professional, and genuinely cared about making sure I had a great experience.

The whole staff has been awesome. If you’re trying to decide which Dave’s Hot Chicken to go to, make it the 188th Street location in Queens. I’ll definitely be back.“

“The food was so delicious! I’m so thankful because I was having a terrible day and really needed something fresh.

The spanakopita slice was huge and came with lemon potatoes! The filling for the spanakopita was stuffed and the pastry was so flaky. I was actually contemplating ordering a side of the lemon potatoes but decided not to, so I was so happy to see them included with the spanakopita. The potato’s were sooo flavorful. The tzatziki had plenty of fresh cucumber and tasted amazing! I also got the lamb gyro, which is only $11 on Uber Eats… definitely a fair price. It was flavorful and packed with veggies and lamb. I thought the portions were perfect, and everything tasted great. I even have enough left over for another meal later. I will say the food was a little on the salty side, but I love sodium lol. “I’m a photographer and absolutely love visiting Youngs Farm to photograph the beautiful flowers on their property. The grounds are always so well maintained, making it such a lovely place to visit and photograph.
Their store is wonderful and has such a great variety of goodies. The prices are a little on the expensive side, but the quality of the products more than makes up for it. Their soups and breads are delicious, and their buttercup cupcakes are absolutely amazing!
I always enjoy shopping there whenever I visit. To top it all off, everyone is so kind, welcoming, and friendly. Youngs Farm is truly one of my favorite places to visit, and I highly recommend it!“

“The food was great and the staff was very patient, considering the fact that one of the individuals on my table was very loud and we sat for quite a while after finishing our meal. I did see them checking on us and I know the moved a patron away from us, but they never made us feel uncomfortable and for that I am grateful - I know my guest was a louder than usual friend. Thank you for being patient and accommodating. Food portions are big and delicious and their pancakes are really goo. I should've ordered more because everyone wanted my pancakes 🥞. We also tried the mango sticky rice drink and the jasmine matcha latte, and both were sooo good! The mango sticky rice drink is such a fun and unique combination, while the jasmine matcha latte has such a nice floral flavor.

“Hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner here and we are SO glad did - everything was perfect! Everyone could not get over how delicious all the food was. Danny worked with us to create a menu that was tailored to us and our guests and we got SO much food included in the package we did. He also worked with us to create table arrangements that worked best for our event. I was worried at first that the space only being partially private and not a true private room would be an issue but it was not at all! We really didn’t need it and were happy to still get to enjoy the Sinatra singer that plays for the restaurant that night. He even came over and sang for our party and had us dance which was not expected but a fun surprise that we loved! Overall we had a great event here and I am so happy we chose them to host it!“

“Have heard incredible things about this spot. Parked around the corner on the street before stepping into this quaint restaurant where we were seated right away for lunch. You can put your order in online or just order with the waitress who brought us iced water. For our starter we ordered the Ika which is a whole squid. It was absolutely delicious at an incredible price point. For our mains we ordered the classic ramen as well the gyokai tsukemen. You can never go wrong with the classic ramen. The broth was so rich. Was so surprised to find that dipping noodles were served here. Was feeling the fish based one. Could have ordered even more servings of the jammy egg that was done just right. Did not have any room for dessert but will be back to try the sweet potato cheesecake. Every other table around us ordered a sweet drink from the fruit teas to the sodas. Our waitress was very nice and made it easy to close out.“
