“I was very impressed, moonlighting in the bartender night life for the last 20 years. I normally don’t go out to bars. My sister and myself were down at Lenox hospital for our Dads surgery. One of the desk staff at Franklin Hotel recommended Penrose! The staff, manager and bartender were so friendly. I have to say I was very happy. Very cute and dimly lit inside with board games and pinball machines to play which I found extremely unique. The highlight of my night was meeting the bartender, Dee. She was adorable and very sweet. “Went on Friday with my girlfriend coz it wss recommended by a friend. We just walk- in coz we couldn't get the reservation. But the host was so accommodating and manage to get us a seat at the bar after waiting about 10 mins. The bartenders were amazing.

“This is a cool spot and often has a great crowd. You can catch the football games on the projector. Please be warned, they force a 20% gratuity on your bill even just sitting at the bar. Maybe they do this because people don't enjoy tipping for extremely slow service which you will probably encounter. (The bartender with the glasses is pretty good though) On top of that, they nickel and dime you with a 2.5% credit card surcharge. I have never seen that at a bar before.“

“Great small and quaint bar next to the 7 line this was like my fourth time frequenting this wine bar. The bar itself is very cozy and with unique decor. Besides serving many wines they have cocktails with unique names and beers. We were there for happy hour and had wine with a spread. We also ordered a charcuterie plate. We enjoyed playing a card game and stayed until the jazz performers played their numbers. We really enjoyed our night.“

“High expectations, but not impressed with this visit. Wednesday early dinner , 7/23/25, 5pm.
No issue with availability and service, very attentive.
Chicken dish with sauce ok, but asparagus flimsy and green bean sized while mashed potatoes served ice cream scoop and lacking in flavor.
Long awaited favorite of mine, fish and chips.
Fish better than most in area, still lacking in wow factor while the (chips) were a flimsy mess , no crisp or seasoning.
As to beer, Stella was fine but Blue Moon dark and flat.
Better luck next time.“

“A super welcoming, special gem: cheap drinks, great service and awesome indie arcade games. What else could you want? I turned up solo on a Monday night: there were bands playing, staff were super friendly and it all cost not even enough to make the minimum card spend. 100% would recommend, and I’d even travel to come back here on my next visit.“

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“
