My favorite dishes so far are the chicken biryani, chicken tikka and garlic naan. The mango lassi is refreshing, cool and tasty. Even my 11 month old baby likes it. “Having lived in Astoria almost 20 years, I've had the pleasure of dining on delicious Greek cuisine, and Taste of Gyro is one of, if not the best Greek food I've tasted. The chicken souvlaki platter has THE MOST flavorful, juicy chicken with incredible fries (that are spiced and cooked to perfection). The Branzini special I had was served with an incredible tomato based sauce that was unlike any I've tasted and out of this world delicious. Be sure to try the zucchini fritters that are fresh, succulent, and served with astounding tzatziki.Add to this, the most down to earth, friendly, and welcoming staff in a neat, clean, and quiet mom and pop environment, and you've got a place that keeps me coming back. It's just a 5 minute walk off of Ditmars and Steinway, on a quiet residential neighborhood and worth the trip. Do yourself a favor, and delight in the taste sensations they provide, and support hard working folks who put their heart and soul into everything that comes out of the kitchen.“

We enjoyed the fava beans dish, loved the liver and sweet reads, and the meatballs. Atmosphere was quiet, and the spot is small, so for a larger group-we we're 5 people, I'd make a reservation. “Herb & Olive Mediterranean is one the best Mediterranean, strike that, one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. Artistically designed with an open counter facing the street for drinks and dining, a high ceiling and plenty of open space, displays of imported delicacies, freshly prepared takeout and pastries as you walk in (we were there last night and the front was open which was great) give way to a sit down eatery reminiscent of a Greek taberna. Our server Katerina was helpful, engaging, and took a genuine interest in my group. The food is perfectly prepared by Chef Phil. His tzatziki has just the right seasonings, the beet, almond, and goat cheese salad is perfect and plentiful, the roasted veggies and lemon potatoes are fresh, crispy, and light. My roasted salmon (with an extraordinary glaze) was the most delicious I’ve ever tasted. My sister loved her pesto. And, the cocktails that we had — white wine sangria and tequila with watermelon, cucumber and lime, we’re totally refreshing. Kudos to owner Julia for this fantastic restaurant. We will be back many times!!“

“My absolute favorite Greek restaurant! They have several locations, but I like the one in Bayside the best because I find it's not as crowded as the other ones. The parking here can be a little tough but there is a municipal parking lot about 3 short blocks away and you can also take public transportation there, it is about a block away from the Bayside Long Island Railroad station. Try their steak its my favorite, but I also recommend the octopus, and their fish is always fresh and delicious, but you really can't go wrong with anything you get here. This place is always super clean, the service is always great and they pour a great drink. Now, this is an edited review from my original because i just had to mention Arif, who is the general manager. When you meet Arif you will understand why this place is so great. The guy makes you feel like family and makes sure you have a top-notch experience. Well done, Arif. What else can you ask for! “Honestly super duper impressed with the quality of food & service we received. At work we will have a catered lunch maybe once a month and it is not easy to coordinate & get great food for an office of 50+ people. But they really got it right! Food came hot, on time, and they very generously provided serving utensils, plates & cutlery. I heard they even called to make sure everything was good which I think is the first of all the resturaunts we had catered. Food: we got the greek salad, rice, lemon potatoes, chicken souvlaki, gyro, falafel, tzatziki & falafel. Everything was super fresh & delish. -- salad had big chunks of feta & some grape leaves. I do wish the salad dressing had more acid(?) because the meal was a bit heavier but overall super fresh!! -- rice to me was a little soggy but some coworkers said they liked the rice and it was super fluffy for them so i think its more about personal prefernce. -- lemon potatoes has a great lemon flavor and was not overcooked. Lemon potatoes are one of my favorite things and this definitely made the list of some of the best. -- chicken came in big chonks and was a pretty moist; and considering i took one of the top pieces from the giant tray for 50 people and it was better than i expected. Only thing is that it felt a little bland? Bit it had great sear and was plentiful! -- gyro was not too salty which is a huge deciding factor me if a greek place is good! It was NOT undercooked in any way but i personally like the burnt bits so i took some leftovers home and airfried it and it was amaaazing. -- falafel was much bigger than i expected - like a golfball? Maybe bigger? Outside was crunchy and the inside still moist and was probs the best falafel i had in monthss. I personally prefer falafel thats not as coarse but again thats a personal prefernce and did not stop me from having a bunch. -- the tzatziki was thiccc like hard to scoop thick. It was honestly amazing! We got some extra lemons so i did thin mine out a bit and i think that helped add a lot of brightness to the meal. Overall- definitely think it will be made part of the rotation and I will definitely consider ordering on my own for lunch to try some of their other menu items“

“Gang of three had a wonderful lunch at Anassa Taverna a few weeks ago, so when a dear friend came to town this was the place to go, along with my guy. Turns out he's had several happy meals here, branzino his fave. So much for a surprise! I love the grotto-like entry leading to a lavish display of fresh veggies, so inviting. Window table makes great street viewing and the noise level was cheerful, like the friendly waitstaff. Good bread and excellent tahini started us, decent white wine and spicy Virgin Mary for me. The prix-fixe is a great option...slightly smaller portions of what I would have ordered anyway: Avgolemono soup was among the best I've had, full of rice, fresh herbs and perfectly balanced; ground lamb kebabs, delightfully garlicky and deeply lamb-y (not so easy to get nowadays), accompanied by yummy herbed fries, tsaziki and excellent salad; then two tiny but delicious baklava pillows. Branzino and chicken breast also graced the table, and a hugely aromatic raspberry sorbet. We schmoozed, and were left undisturbed - truly a blessing.“

“Went here for an anniversary and had the best time! Everything was amazing! We had the Chef's Mezze Experience and it was definitely worth it because of the great food and variety of Greek dishes! We went for dinner on a warmer night in March and sat in their covered outdoor area. The ambiance made us feel like we were having dinner on a warm greek summer. They had olive trees and white tables which made it feel nice and bright. It requires at least 2 people to participate and it was definitely more than enough food to make the both of us full! We started with a greek salad, 5 spreads and some beets and olives. The pita was soft and warm and our favorite dip was the whipped feta with red peppers, but this experience allowed m to try things like a salted and cured roe dip which I surprisingly enjoyed. We then had multiple dishes consisting of fries, grilled octopus, different sausages, and hen. The grilled octopus and hen was perfectly cooked and our favorites. The drinks are also really good and I appreciate their large variety of greek wines along with multiple organic choices. The service here is also really amazing. They are helpful through the menu if you are not familiar with all of the dishes. They realized we were celebrating something provided us shots of ouzo on the house. A really nice, unexpected surprise. Absolutely coming back to try their brunch on a sunny day!“

“Everything about this place is top notch! Came here for bottomless brunch on a Saturday afternoon in February. I ordered the strapatsada and my friend ordered the burger. We both loved our dishes, I rarely order a dish without meat but it was perfect. I’m also not a fan of home fries, but these were perfect- very crunchy. The service was great and we added the bottomless option. The champagne and sangria was top notch. It’s rare to find bottomless brunch with quality drinks such as these. We sat outside, there wasn’t any wait. The inside is very cozy and modern. The waitress was great- highly recommended brunch place. I look forward to returning.“

“The restaurant is in a low traffic area and seems to do decent with takeout. I haven't seen anyone sit down yet each time I went. Restaurant looks pretty clean and full of space. The folk working here are pretty nice. Portion sizes are either lunch or dinner size for your platters. Even the lunch size is a good size portion enough for one person. The dinner size is enough for two people. When we ordered the lunch size for gyro, we had a choice of either a salad or a soup for the first side which is separate from the gyro and there is a second side that goes along with the gyro, so you can pick one of the following fries, rice, lemon potatoes or grilled vegetables. The container is filled about 80% full with grilled pita. When we ordered the dinner size for gyro, its the same as lunch but you can pick two of the sides that go along the gyro. This is effectively filling your container all the way to the top at 100% filled with grilled pita. Recently it appears they increased this to up to three sides, but I imagine they will just reduce the portion size of each side if you pick three but would still fill the container full. The Greek salad is good and the soups we tried were also good. The gyros and chicken souvlaki were on point.“

“I performed at Avenue this last Friday coming from Greece, this place is a true gem in Astoria and NY. Exemplary service, excellent food, great place to play music for people to enjoy. I was impressed by the fact that apart from the Reggaeton & English songs, there were people not speaking Greek as their 1st language who enjoyed the Greek music I also played. Would love to be back at Avenue sometime, huge credit to the management and everyone running such a successful business!!! ❤️?“

“I ordered a very large delivery for an office luncheon. My coworkers are very difficult to please, and they all loved this food. The delivery driver was named Thanasis and he was the best. He called ahead of time and asked if we needed anything to keep the food warm. Then he set up all of the food for us and even gave us some tips on the best way to eat the food. Definitely will be ordering again.“

“First time ordering delivery from this restaurant. The food took over an hour to deliver, but it was worth it! I had the chicken tenders, which were crunchy and so flavorful. The grilled wings are delicious, but the charbroiled chicken was on point. I love the healthy options available here. This place is worth trying.“

“Love this place!!!!!!! I had Jimmy and his crew cater a major party we had with over 75 people and their stuff was a hit. Their spinach and cheese pies were amazing and the various desserts they catered were beyond delicious. Jimmy was awesome to deal with, I told him how many people we were having, he helped me with my order to make sure we had enough for everyone and not one thing was left over. Love dealing with people who do the right thing.“

“Recently, my wife and I discovered Symposium, a hidden gem in North Manhattan, while driving home. Its Greek sign beckoned us into an experience reminiscent of the cozy taverns in Athens, where entering feels like stepping into a secret cave or basement. Celebrating Greece’s Independence Day and the Feast of the Annunciation on March 25th, we were delighted by the traditional dishes that paid homage to these significant events, much like the celebrations back home in Greece. The highlight of our meal was the cod with garlic spread (μπακαλιάρο σκορδαλιά), a signature dish for the day, embodying the essence of Greek tradition. Our feast also included crispy octopus, kalamarakia, French fries sprinkled with feta, shrimp saganaki, a refreshing Greek salad, authentic Greek coffee, portokalopita, and the sublime galaktoboureko. Each dish transported us to Greece with its authentic flavors, as if homemade.Accompanied by a “Savvatiano” crisp, cold white Greek wine, served in an ice bucket to maintain its chill, the dining experience was elevated. The staff’s politeness and hospitality added to the warmth of the evening, and the generous aperitif of Samos wine from the manager before our departure was a gracious touch.Symposium stands out not just for its genuine Greek cuisine but also for being the sole authentic Greek restaurant above 110th Street in North Manhattan, making it a perfect choice for our family. We are grateful for the memorable evening and look forward to returning. Thank you, Symposium, for a wonderful dining experience. Until next time.“

“Been here once before and I think it was better this time. They make a great gyro and it is authentic too. Love the french fries in the gyro. All flavors just worked. The spinach pie was good but nothing special. The haloumi appetizer was good too. Being Cypriot I know halloumi well and they did it right. This is a solid spot and I would come back in a heartbeat.“

“According to my friend who lives here, Greek is the way to go when you're in astoria. So we ordered some gyros and other delicious bites from Frankys and I was not disappointed. I got the beef suvlaki plate and omg the meat was so flavorful and freshly grilled you could still taste the smoke from the fire. The white sauce was great and veggies were fresh. I'd definitely make this spot a regular stop if I lived here“
