“Not my first review of this fabulous restaurant and it won’t be my last! Pico de Gallo was my first choice for my birthday dinner and it never disappoints! Perfect margarita and guacamole with house made crisp chips. Dinner was vegetable enchiladas filled with broccoli, mushrooms, carrots and cauliflower floret. This dish was topped with melted cheese, fresh cotillo cheese and house made tomatillo sauce. The sauce was sweet with a bit of a kick! All served by accommodating, friendly staff. Thanks for making my birthday “muy magnifico “!”

“Excellent meal served in a great atmosphere. Our waiter took time to walk us through the menu, suggest house favorites, and answer any questions we had. Ordering from each section of the menu won't leave you disappointed, we are very excited to go back and try the other menu offerings. 10/10 meal, service, and atmosphere, we'll be back again.”

“Found this spot on Google while I was upstate and thought it was worth the 20 mins drive. It was!!! The pastries are delicious, service was great and tons of options to choose from. I loved it so much I even bought a t-shirt and 2 dog baguette toys for my pups. If you’re in the Hudson Valley area, and hungry (… and rich! lol), def make a stop here”

“This restaurant is exceptional. I had one of the best meals in years. We started with the daikon salad. I then ordered the rainbow trout and my son got the katsu chicken. Everything was SO tasty. We had chocolate ganache for dessert. I highly recommend The Aviary. I’ll definitely be coming back.”

“We were out and about in Hudson today and we were a little hungry so we stopped into kitties and I had probably one of the best egg sandwiches I ever had. I highly recommend the egg sandwich with sauerkraut. The vibe in there was very comfortable iced coffee Was nice and strong. They had a great bakery selection and a lot of local products. So if you’re coming out of the train station in Hudson, I say swing by kitties you won’t be sorry.”

“Our favorite dinner place of the five dinners in Hudson. The Gemelli pasta with Wild Mushrooms was so delicious as was the swordfish with summer beans. Both were perfectly cooked and the presentation was beautiful.

We also loved the Tuscan Kale with truffle honey and Ricotta Salada.

“My kids and I visited here for lunch. It was such a cozy spot filled with the aroma of delicious food. We were instantly greeted with smiling faces as soon as we walked in. My kids had grilled cheese, I had the chicken salad sandwich. So good! Looking forward to visiting again during warmer weather, so we can enjoy the outdoor seating too!”

“Stopped here after our hike and the beer really hit the spot. Their pilsner is so refreshing and the vibe is really nice, super spacious. They don’t sell food except for light snacks but there is a food truck nearby.”

“Only gave 4 stars for food as all I order were French fries. However, the service was phenomenal!! If you go, I suggest sitting at the bar so you can enjoy the amazing bartenders! Simon, Sheena and Lorenzo were delightful and deserve all the praises! I left there feeling as if I made 3 news friends! The atmosphere is moody and it's a whole vibe not to mention the excellent craft cocktails! I cannot wait to go there again to visit my bartender friends and have some laughs with them! 5 stars just isn't enough!”

We had a smashburger and fries, the deviled eggs, and the hand cut chicken bites which I loved and were served with the tastiest ranch sauce I've ever had. “I love the service. The food is ALWAYS delicious. I’m a sucker for their omelettes. I love a good window seat and to write while I’m there. It’s always clean and everyone is friendly and I love watching all the families and regulars come in with their kids or grand parents. The coffee is good. The parking is endless and they have a ramp for anyone needing the use of it. Desserts galore in tall fridge as soon as you walk in — you can always grab that to go after you finish your meal. Large portions. Excellent prices. I love the place!!”

“We had a most extraordinary Sunday brunch at The Maker Cafe yesterday. We were there by chance, around 1 pm, and are so glad we found this lovely spot with a most attentive staff. We're not spring chickens, and we much appreciated the help getting seated, the delicious butternut squash soup, the fabulous eggplant alla parmgiana sandwich, the broccoli salad. Thanks to you all - we loved it, and we look forward to coming to the restaurant some evening soon.”

“Upper Depot hosted an informal get together for graduates of Claverack Elementary School this past Friday. The food, drinks, and staff were all awesome. I wouldn't hesitate to hold an event at this facility in the future, or just have a beer or drink (and some food) after a long day. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

“My husband and I (and pup Hamish) stopped in from our travels and we honestly had one of the best coffees and Matcha’s we have ever had! They had Little Wolf coffee for the espresso (and that’s when we knew it would be good!) AND it’s such a sweet wee shop with curated local goodies! “My husband and I had our 90-guest wedding at the Vanderbilt on 6/8/24 and it could not have been any better. We found the Vanderbilt on Airbnb when looking for a unique wedding venue, visited it in January of 2023, and booked it instantly- didn’t even see another venue. As stated in previous reviews, Henrietta made the planning process as easy as possible. We communicated mainly via email, but she allowed us to come to the space as often as we needed (I think between both of our families we were there 3 times). She also provided a list of vendors that previous wedding parties had used at the Vanderbilt, which I used for our planner, tent company, shuttle company and photographer (all great). When it came time for the tasting, we were provided with an extensive menu of food and drinks curated by Matt. We were blown away by the food. As the wedding day approached, Henrietta was easy to communicate with and flexible. She helped us plan a thorough rainy day plan B, and was the bearer of good news when she called me 2 days prior to tell me the weather looked good and we were going with plan A. The weekend of the wedding was incredible. Our families stayed in the 8 rooms upstairs Friday and Saturday night. Henrietta and Matt were in early on Saturday to get everything prepared. Their team was incredible. After the ceremony, Henrietta greeted us with champagne and a congratulations. When cocktail hour ended and we realized we were so busy that we didn’t even eat our appetizers, Henrietta put together a plate for us and brought it over. I’ve heard from a number of guests that the food was the best they’ve had at a wedding, and I agree. It’s important to note that the staff was also FUN to have around. Bartenders and servers interacted with guests and kept the energy light and fun. The next morning, Matt prepared a great breakfast (much needed) for those staying at the Vanderbilt, even including some leftovers of our banana pudding dessert from the night before. Now let’s quickly talk about the space. The Vanderbilt Lakeside is the most unique space I’ve ever seen. Each room has its own personality and is decorated meticulously and beautifully. I only had to bring in decorations for the tables, as the venue itself was already perfect. The deck was a perfect fit for our 90-person dinner. The lawn, outdoor bar, and lawn games were a hit for those who wanted to chill out rather than dance. The Bar room was the perfect size for our musicians and a dance floor. The rooms upstairs are clean, all about the same size, and all have their own bathrooms to make for a comfortable stay. Overall, I cannot recommend the Vanderbilt enough. We’re racking our brains for an excuse to host another event there. Henrietta and Matt are incredible to work with!”
