“We ordered a vegetarian 12" pizza. Came well packed and with a fair helping of all the necessary ingredients that make for a good pizza, plus the fact I had ordered an extra helping of black olives which went down very well. Wish they had included some ketchup too.“
“Love this quirky yet cozy and super-cool spot. A great thing about Troy is the old buildings there have cool nook-like spaces such as this. The wood fired wings were really good - not straight down the middle typical Buffalo wings, but very good (with top notch bleu cheese.). “Medium” had just the right amount of heat for us. Pizza was very good too. Look forward to going back. Recommend.“
“We ordered 1/2 trays of chicken parm, eggplant parm and more. Everything was perfecto and everyone loved the food. It was our first time using DeFazio's to cater and we will do it again for sure. Highly recommend and kudos to the chefs!!!! Also loved the mini cannolis and genets!!!“
“Their chicken parm is so good!! I LOVE their pizza... so does my church..though there are pizzerias nearby. I brought a 24-cut supreme pizza to last year's superbowl party and everyone still raves about it. 8 people said I can't come unless I bring that pizza..... it's that good!“
“Very tasty ?.. had the meat lovers. Big slices and lots of toppings. If you want something even better try the steak stromboli. Loaded with steak, peppers, onions and cheese. The crust/dough was amazing too. Highly recommend.. 2 ?? up. Also the place is open late.“
“Cozy breakfast spot. Delicious breakfast. Family spot. Attentive and fast service. Amazing egg Benedict with corned beef hash.Parking: They have limited spots in front of the restaurant. You can park in the big parking lot across the street.“
“This is the best pizza in Troy. Hands down. Yeah you will hear other people say this place is better, that place is better...this is the best. I have been coming here for over 25 years and have never had a slice of pizza that wasn't good. I remember when it was a pizza and a soft drink for $1.50. Still not expensive and relatively decent prices in 2024.“
“From the moment I called Al to discuss catering for an event I was planning I was impressed. He is extremely personable, answered all of my questions and had the quote over to me via text immediately after we spoke the first time and again when I later added mini cannolis to my order. He personally delivered the food to the venue and set up the chafing dishes. It was completely stress free. I returned them the next morning and he came out and got them from my car. Everyone raved about the food. I ordered chicken piccata, stuffed eggplant, rigatoni with sausage, roasted potatoes and green beans, along with delicious warm rolls with butter and of course the to die for cannolis. Multiple people asked where I got the delicious food. I was delighted to tell them to call Al Patricelli. It’s great food for a reasonable price. The big plus is the service! You can instantly tell that he cares about making your event special. It was a huge weight off my shoulders. Thanks so much to Al and his staff! Keep up the great work!“
“The strategy to winning a case in court is to follow this simple procedure: 1-Tell the jury what you are going to do. 2. Do it. 3. Summarize and tell them how you did it. This same formula works to perfection at what has been called "Troy's best kept secret." Proudly displayed on the shirts that several of the staff and chef's wear two vital commitments are proclaimed. "Comfort Food" and "Famiglia.".So there is no pretense here. This is no place for nouvelle cuisine with its miniscule portions and esoteric dishes. Rather it is an embracing, warm establishment where the care and love that are emblematic of the southern Italian culture are continually in evidence. You would expect than the storied favorites to be served up in impressive portions where flavors are married into a tasteful delight. At Testo's you have come to the right place. Elsewhere on Yelp another reviewer will state that Testo's and Verdile's are equals, with strong proponents for each. I couldn't disagree more. In fact that is like saying "I can't quite choose between a 1974 Chevy Vega and a 1973 Porsche 911 for sale at the same price. HAH! Testo's blows their supposed rival right out of the water in terms of atmosphere, service, portion size, menu choices, TASTE of the food, dedication to quality, and diner satisfaction. One time there some months ago and I will never return to the Chevy Vega. One time at the Porsche 911 and I had to return the very next day for the Friday special, having been delighted with the Thursday special of lasagna. And oh, the sauce! No wonder they bottle and sell it right there at this friendly neighborhood restaurant. It is like my Father's and maternal Grandmother's, nurtured on either sides of Mt. Etna in Sicily. A great sauce is known by its texture and a taste that is a medley of flavors that let the tomatoes sing. I have had so many mediocre to terrible red sauces served at supposed Italian restaurants that I could scream, or cry, or give up on trying to recapture what MY "famiglia" did so well and so consistently. Thank God I at last discovered this treasure still imbedded in memories of the Sunday gatherings of Italian-Americans with one foot still in the old country. These are glorious, boisterous affairs of up to twenty or more relatives. Dino Martino (Dean Martin to non-Italians) singing the songs of Naples (I shed a silent tear at "Return to me oh my darling"), or that early sixties' favorite "Volare." Now to the food, the star of all great restaurants. The lasagna was as well prepared as the sauce, creamy and stuffed with the joy of high quality ricotta (I swear some Jersey Diners use cottage cheese--an "infamnia")! Having seen a photograph of a layered apple dessert on their website, I took courage in hand (because the lasagna portion was indeed generous). A brilliant move on my part. It came warm and beautiful with real whipped cream and several healthy scoops of vanilla ice cream to the side. Even the coffee is top notch, always fresh and deeply flavored. I can't leave out the wonderful staff that enhances the dining experience. From the sweetest and kindness young woman you are like to meet these days, Daisha, to Testo's own Talia Shire/Connie (from 'Godfather II era, please) Lisa who guides her young servers with impeccable knowledge and a steady hand of encouragement. Unlike Verdile's bored ancients doing a "Stepin Fetchit" routine (look it up), this crew throws themselves into their responsibilities with enthusiasm and efficiency., guaranteeing that their service will be the equal to the very fine cuisine. Prices are fair and in keeping with the investment in nothing but the best ingredients. "Skimping" is simply not in the vocabulary of the two sons who make their founding father proud. My friends, this is an immersive experience in the best of classic Italian-American food and culture. You will be like family, comforted by food and feeli“
“Very good food depending on when you order and who is working. I’ve gotten food that’s incredible (which tells me how good they can do when they try) and then food that’s just ok but not what it should be. Their subs are always great, very good for the price.“
“Hill Creek Tavern has a very inviting atmosphere, great staff and is Veteran owned and operated. The food is very good and we love coming here. In the summer months, one can enjoy sitting outdoors on the patio. I highly recommend you check them out!“
“We rented the upstairs dining room for my partner's birthday - 20 people. Maeve was great helping plan (and putting up with our shifting guest list and dietary needs), Chef Jake put together an excellent tasting menu and executed it so well. Service was great, the space was perfect for the party...the night could not have gone better!“
“This is certainly one of the best places to hang out as a student of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. It can be either to grab a coffee, have a bite to eat, or just chill out with your friends. It is also a nice place to study or work. There are ample amenities for charging your laptop, playing some indoor games like table tennis, billiards, etc. There is also a pub upstairs and various meeting rooms. The Panera Bread here is also pretty good.“
“We went here tonight to celebrate my brother's birthday- his choice. The place is very small but it's comfortable. It was a busy Friday night but not once was the crowd overbearing or loud. It felt like we were all just hanging out...chilling. It was actually really awesome how it felt like that. The bartender welcomed us when he realized we were waiting for a table and the waitresses were all very genuinely friendly. Just felt like a nice little family spot you know? The food was amazing and tasted homemade and not the typical "frozen food microwaved or heated up" you find at restaurants. The pasta fagioli was to die for. So much flavor and not heavy at all. The pizza crust we had was a bit dry but the ingredients were fresh and delicious. I loved our waitress. She was truly a wonderful young lady and I'm sorry I forgot her name. Never did we feel rushed or pressured. What a new hidden gem. Thank you for a relaxing night!Parking: parking was a bit of a hassle but people snuck over to the mechanic next door or in back to park!Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant doesn't have stairs to the entrance (has handicapped parking spaces as well!) and can most likely fit a wheelchair or walker through the door- but just call ahead of time to make sure!“
“Small town spot, we stopped here for an early dinner and the food was great! We just moved to the area from Buffalo so it's nice to find a Bills backer so close to our new home, will definitely be watching a few games here when the season starts!“
“AWESOME! moved to the area, knew about Chris pizza cause only lived a couple towns over, but we needed a regular spot for the new house. not disappointed at all! this is the joint, pizza is always great. pizza is amazing, wing are GREAT (signature sauce and the white garlic parm highly recommend), customer service on point, our driver has always been the same so far and we think she is awesome (sorry it's always snowing when we call haha). an after one night kind of late having issues get ahold of them, owner reached out personally and gave us her personal contact info for any issues ever. this is the place, this is for sure our go to spot and if you live in the area it should be yours!“
“I’ve been ordering from Inferno for a couple years since I moved to Troy and I’ve always had good experiences! I really love how they give their stuff a little homemade touch. I mentioned it was my birthday and asked for a cat on my box and they came through! Totally made my night “
“After the weekend skiing at VT, we always stop at I Love NY Pizza. The pizza is made like NYC and Jersey Pizza! The sauce is perfect! Not sweet, sour, or salty! We have been going here for the past 7 years and will keep on coming every year!“
“My wife recently had to go gluten free, and we have been trying to find a good place to easily get breakfast for a date. We happened to find Birch Baked with a Google search and checked it out. We were not disappointed! We each got a breakfast sandwich and a sweet treat (she got a cookie and I got a cider donut). The food was awesome!! If I didn't know everything was gluten free, I would have had no idea. We are definitely coming back to try out other things like their pizza, hot and cold sandwiches, and the owner told us they are starting a dinner night Thursdays and Fridays with lots of great options. Top notch place filling a big need in the area.“
