“good value and portion of in the town richmond hill ontario. we went early for dinner thus service is better and quieter. the chicken karaage is diff from traditional ones as not using corn starch but used batted coating; surprisingly good thin coating juicy and the wasabi dressing
was matching perfectly. the beef mushroom cream sauce pasta is good too but a bit heavy on the cheese and the cream. a sharing dish. the pork loin set with the spicy demi glacéd sauce was good in generous portion and cutlet coating. somehow a bit dry on the loin. the sad was fresh; high light is the spicy sauce, we brought the leftover sauce home for other seafood dish. seating area is spacious; the music was a bit loud. a good place for dating and gathering. i will return for other dishes. cheers“

“Treat yourself to a warm sushi hug.

We’d been to Hug Sushi’s OG location years ago and finally tried this dine-in spot. Now I wish we’d come sooner! The all-you-can-eat dinner features their well-balanced house special sushi and are decently small allowing you to try more variety.

We enjoyed the hug roll (a salmon avocado roll topped w/ torched salmon + ikura), the crazy roll (with a mound of crabmeat), a BBQ eel roll and even a honey mustard roll for fun that somehow works. Other good picks were the spider roll featuring soft shell crab and the scallop sushi. The sashimi here is thick cut like it should be so you can taste real fresh umami flavours.

We were too intrigued by their sushi selection to try much else. However, grilled shrimp skewers were crisp & well-seasoned and the mango shrimp & salmon salads were refreshing starters. Tempuras were decent as well. For dessert, they have mango sago and deep fried milk which is rare for AYCE sushi but matches another good nearby spot in Maple. Everything arrived quickly.

So what’s the verdict? We’ll definitely be back again at Hug Sushi. Just overlook the lack of interior tidiness and you’re bound to enjoy too!“

“The restaurant, service and food at this restaurant was good. However the only downside is that the customers are literally asked to pay a tip. During this difficult period of the pandemic, it is hard to leave a tip. It should be optional but if you do not tip, you are sort of asked "why no tip". This becomes odd and the customer should be given the discretion to tip. This is the reason, I am giving 4 stars to this restaurant.“

“This is usually our go to, food is usually very good. However it seems like every time we go back they change everything from menus to recipes, to what they offer, down to every detail like how much dipping sauce they give you with some of the sides.
But regardless I find I always return compared to other Ramen places.

“It’s more of a mix of a Korean and Japanese izakaya. It’s Korean-owned, so I wouldn’t say the food is fully authentic Japanese, but everything I’ve tried has always tasted great. I also love their beer and umeshu.

The service was just okay - nothing special. The location is a bit difficult to get to without a car. Overall, I really enjoyed all the food I tried and would definitely come back, although it’s still a bit pricey.“

From the moment it arrived, I was truly surprised – the presentation was so beautiful and artistic, it looked like a painted masterpiece on a plate. “I came here for lunch with my coworkers and we shared a tasting box plus a few rolls on the side.

I don’t eat cucumber, so I specifically asked for no cucumber in our order and was told it could be swapped with avocado, which I really appreciated.

We were also informed it would take about 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 40–45 minutes due to the lunchtime rush. Totally understandable though, and the manager was very apologetic and even gave us a $5 coupon for our next visit along with our box.

When the food arrived, the presentation of the tasting box was absolutely WOW.. it was so beautifully done. We were honestly just too hungry at that point to admire it for long.

Unfortunately, I noticed the first roll I picked still had cucumber in it, and when we flagged it, the staff immediately looked into it. It turned out there was a miscommunication about the substitution, and most of the rolls in the box had cucumber. The manager personally came over, apologized, explained everything, and immediately took care of it by offering to remake the box without cucumber and providing a full refund, which really went above and beyond.

Despite the hiccup, the service and care from the team really stood out. Mistakes happen, especially during busy lunch hours, but the way the team responded made a big difference. I’d definitely come back again.“

After ordering, we got our soup and salad pretty quickly but waited longer for our main dishes, and even longer for our dessert. The food was ok. My husband found the seaweed in his hand roll and maki roll too soft, and I found the salmon to be a bit dense. The other sushi were average. Then the dessert, my husband liked his fried bananas, but I found the sticky rice with mango to be too sweet and the mango pieces were not ripe.
