“We truly enjoyed a leisurely lunch today at Kelsey's Richmond Hill. We need to give a lot of the credit and thanks to our server, Sarah, who was always there when we needed her. She provided us with some excellent suggestions for food and drinks as well as impeccable service coming from a warm and friendly person. While my wife was thoroughly enjoying a cup of tea and a hearty soup with salad and a sandwich, I was just beside myself with every bite of the mushroom melt burger. The burger and fries were prepared and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend that you try this burger, especially if you love mushrooms. Treat yourself. I was also introduced to a delicious refreshing beer called Muskoka Pineapple Ninja. I've never seen it before and it appears that if I can't find anywhere else I'll have to go back. All in all, this was a perfect afternoon. Also, we have promised ourselves that we are going to do this again next week.”

It was not too busy and surprisingly in most restaurants the less customers the worse the service gets so we were really delighted when we had food and service which was 10 out of 10. Our server was Zoran and he gave us maximum level attention and care. Our food, I ordered wings and fries and my friend ordered chicken sandwich and fries, was hot and delicious. Our desserts were delightful. Thank you very much, Zoran for your excellent service and thanks to the chefs for the great Swiss Chalet food. It was a perfect dining experience and we are both so grateful.”

There were three lunch omakase options available that day, and we went with the sashimi nigiri lunch. The course started with miso soup, followed by a sashimi appetizer, then 8 pieces of nigiri and a temaki. We even got ice cream at the end. It doesn’t look like a lot, but it was surprisingly filling.
The omakase was served in a separate room that seats around 10 people (I think?). Service was attentive throughout, servers constantly checked in to make sure everything was okay and we enjoyed every part of the experience, even the lady at the door was super friendly. At $55, it’s an insane deal. No super high-end fish obviously, but the experience and setting alone make it more than worth it. Highly recommend!!”

Everything tasted clean, fresh and truly made with intention. They even surprised us with matcha ice cream at the end of our lunch, which was so sweet and thoughtful. It was a slow Friday afternoon and it turned out to be genuinely an amazing experience. I left so happy, full and wanting to come back to support them again! “For a restaurant that has been around for 20 years, the food is good, not amazing. Basically all the recommendations are fine, but venture off that list and the dishes are average if not a bit confusing in terms of taste.
Satay beef skewers was the best dish we had. Meat was tender and tasty. The sauce was is sweet, but I believe that is typical for Malaysian food? Roti with curry was also memorable because of the soft airy roti. However, the curry was warm, but not hot. We had lamb with ours and the meat was not gamey. Overall happy with the food.
Laksa was salty and lacked any fragrant coconut taste. A bit disappointing for sure. The pineapple fried rice also lacked any distinctive flavour. It’s great fried rice and they use fresh pineapple, but that is about it.
Banana roti is sweet. Roti was great, banana flavour can be a tasted, but the sweetness was a tad overpowering.
The stir fried beans were overcooked, not recommended. I wished we tried the egg plant instead.
The kitchen’s last call is at 7:30pm and they ran out of char kway teow when we ordered. I feel that dish needs to be tried if you visit. The restaurant was pretty full when we got there, but we did not need to wait in line.
Overall, for a restaurant that has been around for such a long time, it’s good. I think the taste profiles for some of the dishes could be improved.”

The restaurant offers an interesting menu, comprising of some authentic, traditional, and hard-to-find Cantonese gems made the dish selection an interesting, fun, and challenging process.
The space was comfortable even for a relatively large group, with well-spaced tables that made the meal feel relaxed and unhurried. Service was polite and attentive throughout.
Starchiva’s dim sum selection was delicious and well balanced, never overly oily or salty. The rice hand rolls, or cheung fun (手拉腸粉), were lightly rolled and delicately wrapped with just the right amount of condiments.
The standout dessert was the brown sugar honeycomb cake (黑糖蜂巢糕)—light, airy, chewy, and honeycomb-like texture, and paired especially well with the rich, smooth Hong Kong milk tea/stocking milk-tea (港式奶茶) taking one to Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng (cafes).
Overall, a pleasant dinning spot for family or group gatherings, offering well-prepared/presented food, clean and comfortable seating, and attentive service.”

It was also my first time trying savory barley soup, and it was amazing ,I’ve only ever had the sweet version before. The owner’s Kabab style is really unique and full of flavor. Everything was so delicious, and I’ll definitely be coming back!”

“Absolutely delicious sweet and savory treats. I have so many food allergies but I can safely eat the food from this bakery. i appreciate the plant based options too. I love the oat fudge bars, vanilla cakes/cupcakes, chocolate cakes/cupcakes, custom cakes, both types of quiche, the scones, brownies, spiced chocolate bar, lattes, drip coffee, cookies...geeze I guess I go there a lot. I haven't even tried everything in the bakery yet. It is a wonderful for breakfast, midday treat and dessert after dinner. I stock up on Sunday to have enough to last me until Thursday morning when the bakery reopens for the week. I am having a very hard time sticking to just one item a day. It is great for school lunch treats because it is a nut free bakery. This is important for school staff and students.”
