“Grey Gardens is a marker in Toronto for me - the place I want to take friends to for a celebratory meal and where I want to retreat when I feel like a solo date, sitting at the chef’s counter.
It is rare for any restaurant to have survived the past few years intact, it is another thing entirely for one to have maintained the consistency that GG has.
On this occasion, my sisters and I wanted to celebrate the fact that all our birthdays happen to be in August. Farhad, our server, was a delight and it was our collective joy to discover that we all hail from Bombay. The perfect recommendations for wine to go with our food selections. The stand-outs - spaghetti with duck, fennel and parm, the scallop crudo with chicken fat, shrimp toast, caraflex (perfection) and the blueberry galette with corn ice cream.
Farhad brought us an extra strawberry gelato so we would have three desserts, each with a candle. And a special glass of amaro as a post-dinner digestif.
Exceptional food (and great value!!) that just makes you happy to be out on a late summer’s evening and service that makes you want to come back, again and again. Grey Gardens, you will always be famous (to me).“

“For our first night in Toronto for a girls' trip, we had dinner at Chubby's given the good reviews and me mentioning wanting to try the various Caribbean spots during our stay. The decor gives island vibes with the wooden furniture and tranquil color choice for decor. Staff were all pretty helpful, with you waiter being pretty attentive.

For my drink, I ordered the rum punch which was pretty good in the balance of flavorand alcohol content. In terms of food, the portions for my entree (Oxtail Stew) was a little smaller than I thought but or actually worked out well and was enough. The oxtail was cooked down, well seasoned and tender, but I felt like I got a lot of pieces that were just bone or pretty fatty. The other food/Likkle bites I ordered to share with one of my friends were also very good. The Pepper Shrimp definitely had a heavy kick of spice to it and tasty. I really enjoyed the Saltfish (Cod) Fritters - they were tasty, had a good chutney to go with it. The plantains were cooked perfectly so that they stayed soft.

All in all, we had a good dining experience.“

I ordered the hen of the woods salad which was one one the best salads I’ve ever had, clear as day gin cocktail was excellent. Their take on the old fashioned was one of the greatest old fashions I’ve ever had. I also ordered the rabbit leek and ramp pasta, it was a great choice not too heavy on the rabbit. Then the wild boar was the main paired w a South African cab sauv was excellent! For dessert I got the rhubarb cheese cake, it was so pretty and it taste amazing! This was my first time going here and on my list for a while. I will definitely be coming back to try the duck and venison.“

“My wife and I enjoyed the 7-course Cool Season tasting menu last night and it was hands down the best meal we’ve ever eaten! The pomelo salad and red curry sablefish were standouts for me, but every dish was beyond fantastic. They apparently change the menu about every three months so we’ll definitely be back in the spring/summer. “We visited seven lives tacos for the first time this weekend in Kensington. The lineup was huge, and they only have standing areas—probably to keep turnover high—so there’s no chance to sit and eat inside,just stand and go.

The tacos themselves are really delicious, but the way the sauces were listed was confusing. We couldn’t tell which ones were hot, and ended up with a super spicy sauce that overwhelmed our tacos. Clearer labeling would really help.

One downside is that they don’t serve beer or margaritas—just soft drinks like Coke and Fanta. I think tacos pair better with a beer or cocktail.

Overall, tasty tacos, but a few improvements could make the experience much better.“

“I live in the area and grew up getting wraps from Lazy Dasiy’s when they first opened. I usually get a BLT (10/10), yesterday I changed it up and got a son-of a-rise (10/10 too). It took some time and I wasn’t in no rush. The worker, didn’t get their name, was super kind even gave me a free fruit cup after I inquired about it! I used to work in food service and understood the wait, I truly didn’t mind. Went back this afternoon, same worker helped me and sat me down and was super kind again! It was my first time dining in and definitely will again! Didn’t wait long either!“

The Cortado was smooth and not acidic. It was nicely made and a good pick me up coffee.

The HitchHiker Lemonade was good. It had more of an orange like flavour to the lemonade. Overall, it was a good refreshing lemonade.“

“This was my friend's first time to this location. She ordered a soup and sweet potatoe fries for an appetizer and squash tacos for a main. Our server, Shell brought her regular fries. She corrected him and then he returned with the sweet potatoe fries. They were limp, burnt. Like they had be out and recooked. She told our server about them. Thought he would have offered to bring her something else or at least take it off the bill. Rest of food was great!“
