“I tried The Brooklin Halibut House for breakfast. It is located close to two breakfast chain restaurants, so for a fish and chip speciality chain, the breakfast competition is tough.

I went for the low $5.95 special and was really pleased. Perfectly cooked, friendly, efficient service, top quality food, and the home fries were the best I have had in a long time. Hang, the owner, and his wife, are very pleasant and friendly as well.

I went back another time for breakfast with several family members. Same great food and service. And the hidden gem is that the breakfast menu is huge, with the same items as the nearby breakfast chains, at very competitive prices.

The place is spotless as well, including the washrooms. Great place overall.“

“I was plesantly surprised with this restaurant. I am always a bit hesitant with older restaurants like this, I worry about cleanliness and food quality. But I gave it a shot and I am happy I did. The service was great, everyone was friendly. I got the souvlaki dinner and it was delicious. Id say one of the top souvlaki dinners in Durham. The portions were huge, i took quite a bit home. Prices were standard for a meal like that. Overall really happy with the experience. Would come back! Thank you.“

Food was delicious. Had the eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint. Food was fresh, served with a side of fried potato. Absolutely outstanding, did not expect this.

Service was pretty good. Sat ourselves and a waitress came over immediately to start the order. Food was underway within minutes, plates and back out in 5 to 20 minutes or so. Staff was friendly.

Atmosphere is a touch dingy. Really my only complaint. They had live music, and plenty of good characters and company. Menus were a touch sticky but not terrible.

“ATTENTION ALL FISH AND CHIPS LOVERS!!! Halibut House at Bloor and Park in Oshawa is amazing!!! New owners took over about a year ago and theyre doing it right! I've been to this establishment many times over the years, often with lack luster experiences. Not this time! It was the best! I had the single piece Halibut and chips with coleslaw. The fish was portion was massive! Cooked perfectly! The battered was golden brown and flaky. The fish was moist and tasty! It was delicious. They clearly have the recipe down to a tee. The oil theyre using was definitely fresh and clean. The fries were thick and crispy. They cut them fresh daily. I love coleslaw but its hit or miss at restaurants. They nailed it at Halibut House! It was light and fresh. Made just right. Don't let me forget to mention that the owner greeted and served me himself. His wife and he took over the business and they are wonderful people! We spoke for a short while and he is a genuinely great man! Worthy note for the exceptional cleanliness of the dining area and facilities! Top marks! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the experience as a whole! Everyone in town and close by NEEDS to get over to the this place and support! I promise you won't be disappointed!“

“Wow! I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is! The young man behind the counter was very helpful in explaining the menu options. Polite, courteous. He mixed the gluten free batter to do the fish right as we ordered. The portions were huge! And steaming hot! The onion rings, also freshly battered in gluten free tempura, were as big around as my fist!! And gluten free, fresh mini doughnuts for the road!! Even the salt, pepper, ketchup and vinegar were marked gluten free! The dedication to no cross contamination with the gluten products is worth noting! (equally good. I had the regular batter, but will definitely order the gluten free next time!! My hubby needs the gluten free...) This is a certified gluten free menu!! Definitely will go again!!“

“We came here for lunch as a group. The place just opened around noon and there was no one.

We ordered only dim sum. The quality is good overall, a bit pricy but that’s expected for a casino location.

The servers didn’t seem especially friendly at first but when you get to know them they are quite nice.

I think it’s good to have some Chinese food to cater to the demographics.“
