The explanations and side by side tasting advice give a great lesson in what James Frey is trying to do with his wine. and the 18401 cellars? OMG. Don't ever stop that! :) Thanks again.“

Penner-Ash Wine Cellars Wineries • $$$
15771 NE Ribbon Ridge Rd, Newberg

“We're locals from Hillsboro and every few years we use our September anniversary as an excuse to get away from the kids and drink wine in Yamhill county. Every trip is to a different BnB and each day is spent discovering new vineyards.

This most recent trip we were keen on good wine with a view, and got no less than four separate recommendations to visit Penner-Ash. We swung by on a Saturday afternoon as walk-ins but were told they had no availability for tastings. We were offered bottle service but decided to make a reservation for Sunday morning to try again, and boy are we glad we did!

The view from the patio is absolutely amazing! The sommelier was charming and delightful! I'm a sucker for any opportunity to learn and she was an absolute treasure trove of knowledge about wine making, which meshed very well with the structure of our tasting: 3 wines, exactly identical but with different soil? Wow, I have been to dozens of these at other vineyards and never learned as much as I did here.

We will definitely make a point of returning, thanks again for such a wonderful morning!“

Chehalem Winery Tasting Room & Wine Bar Winery • $$
106 S Center St, Newberg

“I have gone a couple times now. My friend and I attended Bingo night and it was so fun! It is a beautiful space and recently enjoyed the covered patio with 2 other moms with our young babies in their strollers and felt very comfortable and relaxed. I really enjoyed the Stoller 2022 Pinot Noir and my friend had the Chehalem Valley Chardonnay. They have a refreshing cocktail menu and I liked the Lavender Lemon Drop. The pork belly BLT was delicious!!! My favorite sandwich right now. They have a veggie sandwich as well that is loaded. Everyone in the group loved the cookies. I highly recommend this spot and looking forward to checking out some of their other event nights.“

“We can't say enough good things about Natalie's! We had a barrel tasting and was really impressed with everything we tried. Jeff made the experience highly customizable, taking our initial thoughts on what we enjoy and giving us the chance to try different levels of tannin, oak, age, etc. We brought home a Barbera an Malbec and wish we could have grabbed more. Worth every penny!“

Colene Clemens Vineyards Winery •
22501 NE Dopp Rd, Newberg

“Wine was very good. I think what set them apart was their Rose, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were all worth purchasing, and we did. Seems rare for a winery to excel across multiple categories.

My only complaint is the tasting fee is expensive given you need to purchase $70 or $75 worth of product to waive just one tasting. For $35 you’re better off ordering 3-4 glasses at table for your party. The tasting pours are tiny…an ounce or less. Truly, just a taste. Go to catch the view and enjoy a glass of wine…they’re all delicious and worth the price. Don’t waste money on the tasting.“

REX HILL Wineries • $$
30835 OR-99W, Newberg

“Rex Hill Vineyards is truly perfect. I went here to celebrate my anniversary and passing my somm test, and I genuinely could not have asked for a better experience. I would name everyone that was so kind and knowledgeable but the list goes on and on, everyone that we came across that works there deserves a raise and a smooch. I can’t wait to move to Oregon simply so I can enjoy more time spent in that stunning environment. No qualms!!!“

Longplay Wine Winery •
888 Industrial Pkwy, Newberg

“Wow! What an incredible experience. We were hosted by Todd, the owner and winemaker. We were the only guests there (which is too bad because this place is great) which made it feel like a private tasting. The tasting fee is a reasonable $15 and we were given a complimentary cheese plate. The wines are all at great price points. Collectively, our party bought almost a case of wine. Don't let the industrial building fool you, this is a great find. Love the small winery vibe where you can talk to the people who actually make the wine, not just the tasting room staff. Can not recommend this winery enough. We will be back!“

Arborbrook Vineyards Wineries •
17770 NE Calkins Ln, Newberg

“I was a club member years ago when Dave and Mary opened this vineyard. I went back yesterday under the new ownership, Cooper Mountain, and it is still lovely with great tasting wines. I don’t like tannic reds or oaky Charonneys where as my boyfriend does. We both found wines we both enjoyed and some we each liked more than each other. Arborbrook continues with a very wide range of flavors!! They also are all organic and biodynamic, I highly recommend !“

Rain Dance Vineyards Winery •

“We enjoyed the location, live music, fire pit, and outdoor ambience.
Didn't feel the tasting price is fair, but we aren't local and where we are from the tasting prices are far less than in Oregon.
Wines were good. A bit too dry for our taste.
Pricey. But nice. Staff were very friendly and attentive.“
