“These people are one of a kind. They've always been sweet and thoughtful and caring. They've always taken care of me with a special order or telling me where the meat was from. They're always very clean and friendly. The pastrami from New York is out of this world It's the best in the city. I've been going here for years. If I could give them 10 stars I would.“
“BEST BURGER IN PORTLANDI’ve been coming to Roake’s with my dad since I was a kid and can be certain that this is THE BEST thing patty burger in the city. Their burgers have the perfect flavor and texture to them. Add in the scrumptious coney sauce and you’ve got magic in your mouth. The Roakeburger is my go to, but I leave off the swamp melons and onions. I’ve also been known to get a coney dog or a chili burger on occasion. Their fries are hit and miss IMO, but I come for the burgers anyway.Sketchballs flock to this place and I may visit their other location soon to see if it’s free of drug users, homeless, and gambling addicts. The lottery room Roake’s has doesn’t help.“
“I stumbled across this gem on my first night visiting Portland! The food is solid, but what really blew me away is the ambience. My friends and I received attentive and diligent service, although there was only one guy working the counter and kitchen when we arrived. From hot dogs and fries, to mozzarella sticks and more, Zack’s Shack has a lil something for most. Not to mention they have a late night bar, a moody patio filled with classic games, and trippy artwork throughout the spot!! Totally would recommend this place to anyone in town :)“
“My husband and I were heartbroken when Buddy's steaks closed. They had a great selection of vegan sandwiches and fantastic French fries. So, hubby went on a search for a Philly cheesesteak replacement. We found Master Philly and were blown away. The vegan sandwich is fantastic, crusty hot bread, just sloppy enough to eat. It comes with Fries, making it a great deal. The service was friendly and fast for a truck. We will be back, no doubt. Shukran, Ziad.Vegetarian options: We are vegan and the sandwich is fantastic. It also comes with fries, making this. great deal.“
“I came here to try the hot dogs but this day they weren't selling them so you know me .. ILL BE BACKKKK We got this yummy and different type of "sushi" it was the cucumber with a fruit wrap and chamoy it was sooooo good!! We tried some tacos and I really came to try the blue raspberry chamoy for my rim or pineapple agua Fresca We also got a cup of Esquite !“
“I once read a fine book about "bar bars." I don't remember all the criteria, but I think Beulahland comes close without quite attaining bar-bar status. It's definitely a bar, though -- something getting strangely rare in Portland, where many of the old bars either turn upscale or close. (Although with Holman's reopening, we now have at least two bars in the 28th and Burnside area, very cool.) The food menu looks quite basic, making it clear you come here for the drinks, not the food. (I have not eaten there, maybe the hot dogs or quesadillas are fabulous, I don't know.) It seems a little too big, airy and well lit, and the clientele a little too young, to be a bar bar. But during a pandemic (yes, it's still going on, folks), the airiness is quite a virtue, even if it reduces the classic bar atmosphere. There is ample sidewalk seating, covered but not heated, and very popular even during cold weather (just have another drink). There are big open windows, with seating on both sides of the window and the windowsill serving as a table, so some of your party can be inside and some out if you wish! The outdoor seating is quite lively, and gets livelier as the night goes on -- boisterous discussion, sometimes dancing happens. Check it out.“
“Everyone was talking about Franks-A-Lot and I was skeptical because I’m not a big hotdog person but after trying one I’m hooked it was the absolute best I’ve ever had and a super friendly person took my order I would definitely recommend them for a great experience!!!!!“
“The best of the best. A neighborhood institution. One of the only bars that generally stays up until 2/2:30 nightly. You will talk to interesting strangers, run into old friends, and maybe end up in a small dance party. Hot dogs are there to keep you going. Go forth and enjoy.“
“If the Ninja Turtles ate anything other than pizza, they would eat East Side Deli sandwiches (specifically the Italian). I believe this with my absolute whole heart. East Side is the type of sandwich shop you dream about... it's what every other shop in town wishes they could be. Having a bad day? Get a sandwich. Hungover after yet another failed Hinge date? Get a sandwich, add a chocolate chip cookie and a Mexican Coke. The Staff is unmatched, friendly and thoughtful and I'm pretty sure you can actually taste the love in every bite.“
“Love this place! The chicken sandwiches hit the spot and I especially like that the patties are their own blend of vegan protein. Don't skip getting fries or soft serve either. Everything I've had here has been delicious and comes out quickly.“
“Great neighborhood smashburger. During a rush takes a little while for food to come up. I appreciate the covered eating area if you want to dine in. I got the classic burger and small fries, both were great. Mostly self service from an order window.“
“I really love this bar, locally ownedMy bar tender was Ella. She made my husband the best long island ice tea , since we been together here in Portland Oregon anyways , we been together going on 13years this coming up September 1st .I had the best lemon drop on the ne side of Portland. Also I ordered breakfast biggest portions of food especially for a bar.I ordered chicken fried steak with gravy and a biscuits and gravy came with it as well as homemade breakfast potatoes and 2 over easy eggs and a order of jalapeno poppers and those were the hugest jalapeno poppers I ever seen in Portland and were delicious. Stop in here if you're looking for a friendly non judgemental non racial bar. You won't regret it. Believe me“
“This place has LEGIT corn dogs! A really good corn dog is hard to come by these days if there isn't a fair in town. My wife and I came by Sunday afternoon. It was a bit out of the way as we live in Hillsboro. After finding parking, which is challenging, we ordered and my wife makes a little wisecrack joke, "all this for a corn dog". One bite of the corn dog dipped into the honey butter and she instantly changed her tune. We are so glad we made the out of the way stop. I only wish you could get a 2nd cart out our way in Hillsboro/Beaverton. Keep up the great work!“
