“Lillia Comedor provided excellent food with wonderful inventive flair as to ingredients and sauces and overall food presentation. Service was both very efficient and very friendly/ pleasant without being overly intrusive. Portions from the Chef's menu were reasonable even for big eaters such as myself. We understood that the quality of the restaurant required a high level of expense vis a vis the quality of the food artistry and the ingredients used as well as the level of service. Thus we had no issues with the price points of the food. However, unless they manage some national write up's such as Kann, which has roughly same price level ( maybe even a little higher) has received I worry that the Portland dining population may not find it accessible given the large number of chef owned mid priced (entrees $25-35) restaurants, which not of quite the same quality are often quite good. So it would be a shame as Lillia Comedor is a gem worth the expense if one's budget can afford it.“

“The restaurant was busy, and they seemed understaffed, so we were treated kindly, but slowly. The food was delicious!! But I didn’t love how much fat was left in the shredded pork. Still, it was super well seasoned and the ingredients were very high quality!!“

The tortillas are fresh, and the carne asada was absolutely incredible.

“Pros and cons to this place:

PROS:
1) The halibut tacos were to die for. The chips nicely spiced but not complimentary to my knowledge from what someone at our table said.
2) By far, the BEST Red Sangria I've ever had.
3) Liked the fact there is outside seating, even though we sat in the back. So nice if weather cooperates.

CONS:
1) Server put $38 worth of items from a relatives bill on our tab. Not sure how this could occur when you go up to the cashier to order. May or may not ever see those funds again. Certainly puts a damper on your evening having to collect from a relative.
2) Choice of tipping when using a credit card starts at 18%. When ordering in a cafeteria style set up (they do bring the food to you), in addition to paying at the register, and having to get your own water, 12% is considerably more appropriate as a starting point. 18% came across as a money grab.
3) When paying it doesn't let you see what you're paying for until AFTER you've paid. What's wrong with that picture????
3) One in our group sat there for at least 10 minutes while everyone else in our group received their cocktails/horchata. Could tell everyone felt a bit awkward about this, as they hardly touched their drinks til the final one came such a long time later, even though all were ordered at same time.
4) Flan was dry and NOT at all smooth or creamy. Left most of it behind. Can see why it was at a lower price point. Most people tend to look for dense and creamy due to considerable use of sweetened condensed milk.

Would I come back? For the love of the halibut tacos and red sangria that were so outstanding, yes. BUT, I'd watch my bill like a hawk (not sure how I'd even do that since you can't see the bill until after paying), skip the flan, and plan out my tipping a bit better.“

“We love the vibe on 23rd avenue and stopped in for lunch. All but myself ordered appetizers to share. The bacon wrapped jalapenos were awesome as were the other ones I tried, but my enchiladas were a big disappointment. The flavor was unlike any other I have eaten, and disagreeable to me. The Mexican rice was crispy and crunchy also with an odd flavor, and the black beans were mediocre. All in all, my choice was a bust. The service was good, and liked the decor, so I would probably give it another chance, but I won't be ordering the enchiladas!“
