“Celebrated my 33rd Wedding Anniversary with my spouse on 8/7/25. We ordered two braised beef sandwiches, a summer special, with a side of chips, the shrimp arugula salad split for two, AND the tasty, but not too sweet bread pudding!!!! OMG😋Soooo DELICIOUS. I gave all of it a 10/10 and will definitely be back to try more food items!!
Caitlin was our server and did a nice job waiting on us and telling us about the Marketplace Cafe!! It is truly a hidden surprise that is WORTH checking out!!!“

“Everything about this place is phenomenal. The food is so delicious. We tried several things off the menu and couldn’t decide what our favorite was. They were all that good. “I think a couple weeks to the menu would be needed. We noticed the same garnish with caviar on both hot and cold dishes. The caviar on the hot pork chop wasn't very pleasing. The pork chop definitely needed a pineapple salsa or sauce with it to cut through the fattiness of the chop and grits.“

“Whole menu from start to finish was creative, beautifully presented, and so freaking delicious. The octopus, sea bass and the panna cotta were my favorites. Service was attentive, and all the wines were paired incredibly well. You can tell the owners are so passionate and excited to share their family culture - as they should be! “I make it a point to visit Canard Burnside on all of my trips to Portland! The unique flavors and presentations on their menu keep me coming back for more. Had the roasted beets last night for the first time and the flavor was out of this world.“

“What a great experience. Our party of four was there for brunch. I had apple fritters with side of amazing Hungarian sausage with homemade mustard. - exceptionally good! My wife and daughter had baked pancakes with plums, the other with raisins. Very unique, very good as well. One man runs the whole restaurant from kitchen to table. Loved the experience.“

“Food and service are great. They automatically add 20% gratuity to all checks as well as a small employee wellness fee which can be removed at the customer's request. All the good items were delicious with the exception of the Basque cheesecake which did not have the texture of a Basque cheesecake. The flavor and sauce were good, but it was a rather small piece for the $11 or $12 charge. I do recommend. I will go back.“

But to reduce a dinner at Astera to only this would not do it justice. “I had a memorable dinner at Higgins Restaurant. I ordered their Oregon Mushroom Set Menu, and each dish reflected their respect for local ingredients. The wild mushroom bisque was particularly delicious, with a smooth texture and rich aroma. The waiter was very professional and attentive, explaining the background of each dish. The elegant yet relaxed atmosphere was perfect for a leisurely meal with friends or family.“

“I am rarely so pleased with a place and experience that I take the time to let the internet know.

I have certain food restrictions due to my religion, and are not able to have a lot of breakfast favorites because they often have pork. I was so happy to see eggs Benedict with veggie sausage and biscuits and gravey with non-pork options (elk and mushroom).

The drinks too! Veg bloody maries! The Rosemary Paloma was great too.

My server Mars was awesome and is great at what they do. When I mentioned it was my birthday, they said they'd cover my drink for me!

I found this place while visiting from out of state and I hope to come back again before I leave!

Got the Fresh Prince, which doesn’t come with cheese and I debated adding it, but i didn’t and I didn’t miss it! The flavors are so well balanced and delicious, the sour dough was just awesome. Everything together was phenomenal, and I immediately wanted more.“

“My son stopped at Bastions this past June 2025 and purchased 2 good sizes of your coffee cake. It was exceptional and so moist. We couldn't put our forks down! We're the ones who purchased a pecan pie from bastions last Christmas and a pumpkin pie last Thanksgiving. Both outstanding! Everything we've tried is excellent including the donuts. It's great to have a wonderful place that bakes without gluten, dairy and cane sugar! Thank you! Theresa“

“Flavorful chicken thighs- very well seasoned! Dan Dan fries are among the best I have ever had- fresh flavors and fries stayed crunchy even in all the yummy peanut sauce!! Huge portions… well too big for a lady to finish! :-) requested hot sauce in the side, glad we did as it was pretty spicy.“

“This is a beautiful spot to sit and listen to some vinyls. Loved the atmosphere and the service was top notch. Why only 4 stars? The food was lacking a little in price and in flavor. We had the burger, BLT, and chicken parm sandwich. The chicken parm sandwich was 100% fantastic but we asked for no pickles. The burger was small for the price especially compared to the price of the chicken parm sandwich. The burger was very bland and I was disappointed that adding tomato would cost extra. The BLT had more lettuce than I'd prefer. One common issue was the garlic aioli is very strong! It was so overpowering that I couldn't taste the cheese on the burger or the bacon in the BLT. The fries were delicious. I would go back again for the chicken parm sandwich. Another issue was we had to wait quite a while for our food but we didn't know about the event down the road and our server apologized so I would definitely check it out on a less busy night.“

We sat outside at the outdoor patio with our dogs and the staff was so nice. They got our dogs a bowl of water and even bit a dog treat in half themselves so they could each have a half.

“I love Dream House, but am begging… Can you bring back your kale Caesar salad? It was no joke, my favorite meal in the entire city. I dream about this salad. I tell everyone about this salad. I’ve brought people visiting Portland to Dream House for it. It’s the perfect meal. The asparagus salad is great, but the Caesar salad was life-altering. Thank you 🙏“
