There’s a bar, the next door over that’s owned by the same owners that’s a great non-smoking option (Zach’s). Regardless of which, if a PA team is playing they’re showing it on several television angles within the bar. There’s an ATM, cash only cigarette machine, and several lottery machines at your disposal.”

I sent my Grandson to pick up. This happens a lot. I've got the entire wrong order before too. Whoever answers the phone & takes the order needs to get it right. I'm a big fan of the market fresh honey mustard chicken wrap, and the jalapeño poppers are the bomb. I do wish there was an option to have burgers cooked well done though. The classic roast beef has a lot less beef than it used to. It's a typical eat-in experience, so we usually order through mobile for pickup and that works fine.”

“Just had a fantastic little pizza from OIP and wanted to share! I ordered a small pie with extra cheese and extra pepperoni, and it was exactly what I was craving.

The pizza was perfectly cooked – the crust was nice and crisp on the bottom, but still soft and chewy on top. The extra cheese was melted to perfection and gave that wonderful, gooey pull with every bite. And the extra pepperoni? Delicious! There was just the right amount of spice and it was clearly good quality pepperoni, not the cheap stuff.

“We always gave a lot of fun at the Bavarian. The bowling is inexpensive and the lanes are well maintained. The food is pretty good and has a decent variety. The staff is friendly. Prices are good. They bring in good entertainment. The ballroom is great for events. Our favorite is Country Store. Even though you have to have a membership, it isn't expensive. They also offer Bingo, bowling leagues, and dart competitions.

Parking: Parking is normally easy, unless there is an event in the ballroom. It can be difficult to find parking on those nights.

Kid-friendliness: Food options for kids. The bowling alley is also kid friendly.”

“Born and raised in Altoona, PA. and I know some of the Sheetz family. A Grandfather owned a dairy and several times on Christmas Eve, he brought us goodies (in the 50’s). The Sheetz “clan” is a wonderful family. I had the pleasure of shopping in the first 2 Sheetz “Kwik Shoppers” in Altoona. I know several high school class mates who have retired from Sheetz and enjoyed their time working there. Now, we just got the first Sheetz relatively close by in Michigan. Been there twice so far. In sum, the Sheetz family are a wonderful bunch. I hope Michigan enjoys Sheetz as much as Sheetz enjoys Michigan.”

“THE 2-2-7!

…….Thats what I call the excellent deal they have on 2 dozen wings at Nardo’s Cafe!

So I was in the area at a close by stationary and copy service center when Nardo’s was recommended. So I walked on over. And as I approached the door I saw a sign that said, “Try our lemon pepper wings”.

Right then and there I knew that there was something special about the cooks taste and abilities! And, in hindsight, one would think that lemon pepper wings would be a common offering. But, despite being familiar with traditional lemon pepper chicken, this was actually the first time I ever saw it offered as American Cafe style wings.

So I waked in and placed a lunch order. Though not for the wings that day. And I did strike up a conversation with the chef about the wings.

Instantly it became clear that this cook was passionate about, knowledgeable and skilled at his craft. And, during the course of the discussion, he mentioned a 2 dozen wings for $27 deal.

So I promised to return in the future to place an order. And it was only a few days till I returned to buy the wings.

I decided on the 2 dozen for $27 deal. And this price is on par and somewhat better than most establishments. Especially considering today’s economy. And an economy which, despite the valiant efforts of late, still may take a little more time to recover once the dust settles from the much needed regime change.

Anyhow, I arrived on time so as to get my wings as hot as possible. And one must consider that, if you are not dining in, you really should be punctual about arriving at the exact time scheduled to pick up your food.

And, to those that are thoroughly ignorant of food sciences, know this: Gravity and condensation are factors that affect hot foods placed in modern take out containers.

This means that, if you take your good old time to pick up an order, sauces can travel to the bottom of the foil and pool. And, in addition, water condensation can also accumulate on the upper surface of modern styrofoam take out containers. Thus, after sufficient time, one could conceivably knock loose that condensation to unwittingly dilute sauces that, again, gravitated toward the foil.

….. thats my personal opinion anyway.

But, as I spoke to the cook for the second time, I perceived that he understood well the genre of the American Cafe, the ins & outs of the business and that, at times, you simply cannot please all of the people all of the time.

But, as for me, I was very pleased with the wings. I got the lemon pepper wings and their hottest offering…..the “Pray for rain”.

Both of these are excellent in flavor and texture. But don’t take my word for it. Go to Nardo’s Cafe and, no pun intended, Judge for Yourself!”

“I ordered a party box for what I thought was yesterday and ended up ordering it for today by mistake. The staff, (Julian) were so great to my friend who went to pick it up. They made the order quickly and delivered to the party. Thank you for saving the day based on my dumb mistake!! Excellent subs as always!!!”

“First time eating at Dino's. We called in an order for a large pepperoni pizza (with onions and mushrooms), an order of mozzarella sticks, an order of onion rings, and the combo steak hoagie (large with no green/bell peppers, add, mayo and lettuce). We were very pleased with our order and the helpful staff. My mother walks with a cane and when she went in to get the order, they walked it out for her. Thank you staff! The food was delicious. The steak hoagie is the best I've had since moving to the area 12 years ago. I've tried a lot of steak hoagies at other places and they were not nearly as good. The meat-to-bun ratio was perfect and it was very filling. The bun wasn't soggy with grease and had great flavor and a nice chew. The onion rings were great. They were not soggy and had great beer batter crunch, the same for the mozzarella sticks. We got a large pizza and it was HUGE. The crust had such good flavor. My only complaint would be that they did not put enough pepperoni on it to sufficiently cover the real estate. They could be a bit more generous with the toppings. Pricing at Dino's is on par with other places in the area. I found I spent the same amount there as I did placing an order to Dominos, the difference being I got a lot more food from Dino's. For what I paid to get a large pepperoni pizza (bigger than anything Dominos serves and better tasting), mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and a really good large steak hoagie, I paid Dominos for a large pepperoni pizza, 2 salads and a brownie. The steak and cheese at Dominos can't even compare to Dino's. I'll be going back to Dino's in the future.”

If you're not spiritual you may not like the place because it's quite Christian with Bible verses hiden all over, which I think pretty neat, I had a bit of a spiritual experience here one day a ton of synchronicities just when I needed the reminder that I am not alone I have a mighty protector who watches over me, regardless of my beliefs and will use anything even the Bible to speak to me.

“Had an amazing breakfast with my friend, Moon over my hammy, and an omelet. but I'm writing about our server, she was wonderful, I'm a retired server and she brought my faith back in servers. Makala (I'm spelling that wrong, I'm sorry, but try not to loose her. when my friend grabbed the check I wanted to pay, Makala's response was awesome! Thank you sweet girl!”

“The food here is great if it's made by certain staff. As for second shift crew they can be friendly or not so friendly it's in between depends on who's working the window that day. Yesterday, I had a guy with an attitude and terrible customer service and I was friendly with him used all my manners. So it just all depends the atmosphere is kid friendly and they serve the Krabby Patty meal which in my opinion was very good. The fries were fresh and everything was given to me in a timely manner.

Parking: The Plank road and the one over near Altoona Hospital both have good parking it is easily accessible.

Kid-friendliness: They offer kids meals while also having a wide selection of foods. The staff can be good with the kids or just completely ignore them it's an in between thing.

Wheelchair accessibility: Yes it has wheelchair accessibility.”
