“Nice BBQ spot in the cut. It is a spot for to-go. When I opened the door the cook what there to greet me. I ordered BBQ Brisket Sandwich w/ Pork & Beans and Mac & Cheese. Cornbread came with it. The BBQ sauce was nice and sweet and savory. Good taste. I'll say I've taste that sauce before for sure. Brisket was a delicious and well seasoned. Mac & Cheese was okay. It should use different cheese and seasonings but I still ate it. Pork & Beans was my favoriteeee - nice sweet & smokey sauce for the pork and beans. Cornbread was not that good. Service was great! I would definitely come back and try other items on the menu. Nice location.“

“I eat their food several times a month and I am never disappointed. My favorite, their yams are fresh and always delicious. They have Wednesday shrimp special. Today I am raving about the cabbage. “Ok so it was our first time going here and we just drove from Jersey where we reside and ate here.It took longer than expected to get our food but it was well worth it . Terell the owners 19yr old son showed up and showed of with great costumer service ,excellent food and yeah he put the presentation down on our platters. I gotta say it was really refreshing to hear and see a 19 yr old holding down a restaurant by himself while mom had the day of and he did her and us justice . “My husband and I had chicken platters From the Kitchen of Lindalicious this past weekend. The food is incredible. The taste, the servings and the hospitality are beyond words. This is by far the best “REAL” soul food in the city. This is definitely a must return and prepare for a long southern comfort nap.“

“First time to Philadelphia! This was one of many! Went back 3 times during my stay! Everyone was so welcoming, nice crowd! The food was good! The bartenders was nice and helpful. Even watched a foot ball game one night. The dj played good music. It was a nice safe environment, I had a great time!“

“They used to have poetry workshops and live jazz on Sundays. I didn't see live jazz today but maybe it happened earlier in the day. I love to get the fried swai fillet that comes with 2 sides. Today I got greens and mac and cheese as sides. The mac wasn't cheesy enough. There was some cheesy flavored butter sauce on the macaroni but I needed to add my own cheese at home. The greens were really spicy but flavorful. I will come back and just get different sides and go back to some other old time favorites.“

“Here's the thing about soul food...some people can make it, some can't. Jamil's Cafe CAN make IT!!! I went there HUNGRY, HUNGRY - after a long morning of work. I ordered fried whiting, yams & cabbage. Let's just say - Jamil's is on my LIST now. Everything & I do mean EVERYTHING was ?. I love me some fish and mine was fried perfect!!!! “Selected this place because it was minority-owned by a black woman and not bad reviews. I had the whiting, mac and cheese, collard greens and sweet potato pie. I thought I would take something back to the hotel, but it was all so good that nothing was left. The extra touches were that I loved seeing the food when I made my selections, the restaurant was clean and the owner was very engaging. I highly recommend.“

“I visited Julz on Tuesday,October 3, 2023 for the first time to celebrate my daughter's 50th Birthday. It was their 1st Tuesday's jazz night and it was outstanding. I ordered the sticky wings, cabbage and mac & cheese and my sister ordered baked salmon, cabbage, rice and mac and cheese. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection.
