“This is a special place. Liege waffles are very different than anything I've ever had. They are made from a yeast dough, with caramelized brown sugar inside, smallish, and served warm in a napkin so that you can take it with you while window shopping. Please note: these are not meant to be served with ice cream on top. The ice cream and waffles are both very good by themselves. The owner only serves them together because people ask for that, but I think they ask for it because they think that's how it's meant to be served. (At least, that's what we thought!)“

Had a nice chat with the owner and he informed us that many of the ingredients and milk are sourced from local farmers and helps support our area which is great. Had a friend with me who said he’d love to try but he is lactose intolerant and it turned out they also had dairy free options. Definitely recommend!“

“I always make it a point to stop by in this yogurt shop when I come to squirrel hill. It’s sooo reasonable and so practical as they weigh it, so you can get any flavor, any toppings, as much as you like. This was the cheesecake flavor, the only sugar-free option, but I loved it!! Try the lychee popping boba topping, it’s a game changer for me!! Also they always have new flavors so always look forwards to it?“

“Texas sheet cake is one of the best chocolate ice creams I've had. Lemon Bar and Banana Cream Pudding is also super yummy!! Offers to-go pints. Unfortunately, the servers added a Buttercrisp Waffle Chip, which isn't vegan, but it's easily removed (and if I had known they'd add it I would have asked for it to be omitted). Ice cream was still delicious though and definitely one of the best vegan ice creams I've had!“

Very fast customer service despite a busy day due to the hottest day in Pittsburgh in 2025.

“No seating anywhere but Rita's is great just standing around eating on a hot day.

I always get the gelati. Normally it's 50% italian ice and 50% frozen custard but I treat the ice like a topping and ask for 80% custard and only 20% ice. It's awesome they always get the ratio right. Mango is the best ice flavor. Can't go wrong with it.

Parking is rough here. Always have to park 3 streets away. Just be prepared to walk a little.“

My now husband and I both LOVE ice cream and when we decided that's what we wanted to have for our special day I knew Leonas was the choice. We got to pick from SO many of their delicious seasonal flavors - narrowing it down was the hardest part! They were SO detailed and thorough in helping me ensure the sandwiches were served appropriately. All of our guests RAVED about how perfect the ice cream was for the day and how delicious they were. It was a hilarious bonus that the pre-wrapped treats were much more portable than a slice of cake - MANY of them made it out onto the dance floor! Couldn't recommend them more as a DELICIOUS and super fun addition to any event.“
